Abstract

Indonesia, as the world's fourth-largest shrimp exporter, has experienced a decline in export volume caused by disease outbreaks. This disease is a challenge because shrimp do not have adaptive immunity and rely heavily on innate immunity to survive against pathogens. Therefore, it is necessary to carry out early detection of diseases to reduce cultivation losses. Detection of disease agents in small quantities that have not caused symptoms of disease can be done using PCR tools. Real- Time PCR is widely used because of its fast, accurate visualization results, highly sensitive levels and techniques, and its analysis is qualitative and quantitative. This study only conducted qualitative detection using real-time PCR to determine the presence or absence of pathogens in whiteleg shrimp without quantifying the level of infection. The study included sample preparation, sample extraction, and sample amplification. The number of samples was 75 with WSSV, EMS, and EHP disease test parameters. The number of EHP test parameters was the most tested parameter with 42 tests, then EMS at 22 tests, and finally WSSV with 11 tests. The disease test parameters identified as positive EHP were 16 (38.10%), negative EHP were 26 (61.90%), negative EMS were 22 (100%), and negative WSSV were 11 (100%). Based on Fisher's Exact Test analysis, EHP disease was detected significantly more than EMS and WSSV (p < 0.05). These three parameters are a challenge for farmers  because they can cause economic losses.

Abstract

Benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH) is a usually abnormality in elderly men. This study aims to explain the influence between residence factors and lymphocyte levels on the incidence of BPH. This study used an analytic observational research design with a cross sectional approach. The population in this study were medical records of histopathology preparations at the PA Laboratory of PKU Muhammadiyah Surakarta Hospital. The sample in this study was medical records of histopathology preparations with a diagnosis of prostate tumor from 2021 to 2024 using the principle technique of total sampling. The research instruments used in this study were laboratory medical records and medical record units at PKU Muhammadiyah Surakarta Hospital. Data analysis techniques in this study include univariate analysis, bivariate analysis using the Chi Square test, and multivariate test using logistic regression test. The results of this study found that there is a significant influence between residence factors and the incidence of benign prostate hyperplasia (P=0.02; OR=7.00). There is no significant correlation between lymphocyte level (%) and the incidence of benign prostate hyperplasia (P=0.040; OR=0,957). The residence variable has a greater influence on the incidence of benign prostate hyperplasia than the lymphocyte level factor.

Abstract

Introduction: Programmatic assessment (PA) has emerged as a transformative framework in medical education, emphasizing longitudinal evaluation, meaningful feedback, and data-informed decision-making to enhance learner development. Its role extends beyond competency measurement, contributing to broader educational goals such as strengthening health literacy and health promotion competencies—core attributes for future healthcare professionals. This bibliometric and narrative review aimed to map global research trends, influential contributors, and thematic patterns in programmatic assessment while synthesizing evidence on its potential to advance health literacy and health promotion competencies in medical education. Methods: A comprehensive search was conducted in Scopus database for articles published between 1977 and 2025. Inclusion criteria of eligible studies were those addressing programmatic assessment in medical or health professions education—including portfolios, decision processes, or programmatic feedback—and explicitly linking these approaches to health literacy or health promotion competencies. The dataset comprised 822 records and a final sample of 166 publications eligible for bibliometric analysis. Bibliometric indicators were analysed using VOSviewer, including publication trends, author networks, organizational and country contributions, and keyword co-occurrence. Narrative synthesis integrated empirical findings on PA implementation and its educational outcomes. Results: A total of 1092 authors, 502 organizations, and 44 countries contributed to 1737 indexed keywords, of which 167 met inclusion thresholds. Thematic clustering identified four dominant domains: feedback and learning analytics, competency-based assessment, digital and AI-supported assessment, and professional identity formation. Recent literature emphasizes PA’s capacity to cultivate reflective practice, communication skills, and health advocacy—key components of health literacy and promotion. Conclusion: Programmatic assessment represents an integrative and evidence-driven approach that not only enhances learning and assessment quality but also fosters essential competencies in health literacy and promotion, aligning medical education with 21st-century public health priorities.

Abstract

Hypertension remains a global health problem experienced by the world's population, as evidenced by its high prevalence and mortality rate. For 90-95% of hypertension sufferers, the cause of hypertension was reported as unknown. However, there are several risk factors associated with hypertension, notably genetic factors, age, gender, diabetes mellitus, lifestyle and diet, as well as lipid and uric acid profiles. This study aims to analyze uric acid and propyl lipid levels with hypertension severity. The study employed a quantitative research design. Data were collected through purposive sampling, yielding a total sample of 110 participants. The dataset was subsequently analyzed using logistic regression test. Based on the logistic regression statistical test, the following results were obtained: uric acid levels (p-value <0.05; OR >1; CI did not exceed 1); triglyceride levels (p-value >0.05; OR >1; CI exceeded 1); total cholesterol levels (p-value >0.05; OR <1; CI exceeded 1); and low-density lipoprotein levels (p-value >0.05; OR >1; CI exceeded 1). Thus, it can be concluded that abnormal uric acid levels significantly affect the severity of hypertension. Abnormal triglyceride levels and low-density lipoprotein levels show a tendency to increase the risk of hypertension severity but are not yet statistically significant. There is a tendency for abnormal total cholesterol levels to be less risky for severe hypertension compared to normal total cholesterol levels, but this disparity is not significant. Nevertheless, the probability of all variables with abnormal levels possessed a 12% risk of hypertension severity remains.
