Abstract

This study aims to analyze the phenomenon of economic anomalies seen in the trend of concert ticket purchases in Indonesia despite being in the midst of deflationary conditions that take place consecutively from May to September 2024. Although people's purchasing power has decreased due to the decline in the price of goods and services, as well as the existence of symptoms of economic sluggishness, interest in music concerts from both local and international musicians continues to increase. This phenomenon has attracted the attention of researchers because it indicates a change in people's consumption patterns who prefer spending on entertainment over basic needs. This study uses a qualitative approach with in-depth interviews with a number of concert ticket consumers in various major cities in Indonesia, and field observations to understand consumer behavior in this context, as well as documentation in the form of analysis of news articles, social media, concert reviews, and economic reports. The data analysis techniques used are data condensation, data presentation, conclusion drawing and NVivo12 verification. The results of the study show that the purchase of concert tickets is more influenced by emotional needs and self-reward Although the economy is sluggish, entertainment is considered a priority by some people, leading to a change in consumption patterns that focus more on social experiences and long-term memories.

Abstract

This article deals with the arrangement of discourse, namely cohesive devices and structure of text in narrative text writing. The students` perspective is also discussed in the indicated investigation. The objectives are to capture the pupils `point of view in arranging discourse units and constructing text structure in writing. The data were taken from fourth-semester students` narrative text writing at UIN SATU Tulungagung, and interview results were analyzed. There are twelve texts analyzed in this study. This study was conducted using a descriptive method with a qualitative approach. The findings show that there are misuses in applying linguistics tending to unite instruments, including allusion, replacement, and omission of parts of a word or sentence, as well as combination. Then, some lexical cohesive devices are easier to understand than grammatical ones, especially repetition, hyponyms, and meronyms. However, students are confused about using synonyms and antonyms collectively. The implementation of narrative text structure was also achieved. In addition, from students` point of view, the elements of cohesive devices need to be studied further as a lack of understanding of the devices affects their writing skills.

Abstract

Penulisan karya ini bertujuan untuk menjelaskan Pemanfaatan Sumber Daya Alam Laut dan Pesisir Sebagai Pendukung Pengembangan Objek Wisata di Pantai Selatan (Pantai Gemah) Kabupaten Tulungagung. Latar belakang dalam penulisan karya ini adalah karena Indonesia merupakan negara yang memiliki kekayaan keanekaragaman sumber daya alam yang melimpah. Kekayaan sumber daya alam yang melimpah yang dimiliki oleh negara Indonesia dapat dimanfaatkan sebagai upaya untuk melaksanakan pembangunan ekonomi dalam rangka meningkatkan kesejahteraan masyarakat. Salah satu bentuk realisasi pemerintah dalam melaksanakan pembangunan ekonomi adalah dengan membuat Jalur Lintas Selatan (JLS) yang berada di pesisir pantai selatan Kabupaten Tulungagung. Pembangunan Jalur Lintas Selatan (JLS) di pesisir pantai selatan Kabupaten Tulungagung memberikan dampak positif bagi perekonomian masyarakat di sekitar pesisir pantai selatan, salah satunya adalah kemudahan akses menuju Pantai Gemah. Adanya Jalur Lintas Selatan (JLS) memudahkan akses menuju Pantai Gemah sehingga banyak wisatawan yang datang ke Pantai Gemah. Dengan banyaknya wisatawan yang datang ke Pantai Gemah, masyarakat sekitar memanfaatkan keadaan tersebut dengan melakukan kegiatan ekonomi seperti berjualan di kawasan Pantai Gemah.

Abstract

This study addresses the challenge of integrating moral education into English Language Teaching (ELT) in culturally diverse contexts. Using a mixed-methods approach, the research investigates the effectiveness of incorporating Qur'anic narratives into ELT to cultivate moral values among ninth-grade students at junior high school. The study involved 27 students and employed pre-test and post-test assessments, along with qualitative interviews. Findings reveal a significant improvement in students' moral reasoning and behavior, with post-test scores increasing from an average of 48.15 to 82.22. Thematic analysis identified key moral values internalized by students, including resilience, integrity, and faith. The research concludes that integrating culturally resonant narratives into ELT effectively fosters both linguistic and ethical development. These findings have important implications for curriculum development and teacher training, suggesting the need for a more holistic approach to language education that addresses both linguistic competencies and character development in culturally diverse educational settings. The study also highlights the potential of narrative pedagogy in creating meaningful learning experiences that resonate with students' cultural and religious backgrounds.

Abstract

The problem highlighted in this research is the low reading comprehension of the second semester students of English Department in State College of Islamic Studies Tulungagung that is caused by (a) the uninteresting activities in reading class; (b) the students' difficulties in understanding and retelling the ideas of the text; (c) the students' low motivation in reading habit. The theoretical review includes the nature of reading, picture series, inspiring reading, and the nature of motivation. The procedure of the research consists of identifying the problem, planning the action, implementing the action, observing the action, and reflecting the result of the research. In this research, the researcher acts as the lecturer who conducts the action research in the classroom and she is helped by her collegues. In collecting the data, the researcher uses observational technique supported with tests. In analysing the data, it was used t-test non independent, the researcher uses the observation, questionaire, interview, students ‘work supported with the video recording and photograph,then also compares the result of the students' pre-test and post-test to answer the research questions. There is significant improvement in the result of pre-test and post-test of cycle 1 and 2. In cycle 1, t0 (6.89766) is higher than tt (1.73) and in cycle 2, t0 (10.8622) is also higher than tt (1.73). From these two results, therefore, h0 is rejected and the alternative hypothesis (ha) is accepted. By retelling the ideas and summarizing the text using interesting media especially picture series can increase the students' motivation in reading class especially to improve their reading comprehension.

Abstract

The problem highlighted in this research is the low pronunciation ability of Kindergarten students in Al-Irsyad  Madiun  that is caused by (1) the uninteresting activities in learning English; (2) the students' difficulties in pronunciating English words; (3) the students' low motivation in learning. The theoretical review includes the young learners characteristics, games in language, games for young learners. The procedure of the research consists of identifying the problem, planning the action, implementing the action, observing the action, and reflecting the result of the research. In this research, the researcher acts as the teacher who conducts the action research in the classroom and she is helped by the classsroom teacher. In collecting the data, the researcher uses observational technique supported with tests. In analyzing the data, the researcher uses the field notes, teacher's diaries, students ‘work supported with the cassette recording and photograph,then also compares the result of the students' pre-test and post-test to answer the research questions. There is significant improvement in the result of pre-test and post-test of cycle 1 and 2. In cycle 1, t0 (2.55734) is higher than tt (1.73) and in cycle 2, t0 (6.765738) is also higher than tt (1.73). From these two results, therefore, h0 is rejected and the alternative hypothesis (ha) is accepted. They practice their pronunciation through taking turn and asking each other for cards to match those they have in their hands, arranging a word and sticking on alphabet, pronunciating the word, giving the meaning, hen making a sentence such as Go Fish Game and Maze Game. By conducting these games, using interesting media, creating various interesting tasks and activities can increase the students' motivation in learning English and pronunciation ability.Keywords: Improving, pronunciation, ability,  go fish and Maze games

Abstract

This research examines the two factors which effect on the raising of Indonesian morphology-syntactical interference. It aimed at delineating the potential effect of these two factors on the arising of Indonesian morphology-syntactical interference of undergraduate students majoring in English department of State Islamic Institute of Tulungagung and PGRI teacher training college of Tulungagung. 213 Javanese undergraduate students were selected based on two-step purposive sampling. To collect data, the researcher used observation and questionares in which the participants answered a set of 12 open-ended questions to measure the students’ term along with educational institution and Indonesian morphology-syntactical interference. To analyze the data, t-test on correlation and coefficient as well as linier stepwise multiple regressions were conducted through Statistical Package for Social Sciences (SPSS) version 17. Data analysis indicated that the independent variables significantly correlated with Indonesian morphology-syntactical interference. In addition, multiple regressions analysis specified different higher institution as the main contributing variable and students’ term as the second one on the arising of Indonesian interference. It also showed that students of English departments of state Islamic institution of Tulungagung got higher scores on the arising of Indonesian morphology-syntactical interference than those of PGRI teacher training college of Tulungagung. The reason may refer to the supporting environment that is higher language exposure. The results highlighted the longer the students’ term they have, the lower score on the arising of Indonesian morphology-syntactical interference they produce.

Abstract

Self Professional Development is one of the key factors in Foreign Language Learning, and therefore strategies in developing English professional college teachers should be seen as an important aspect of improving English lecturers’ role as models. This study was done through a survey to 30 EFL college teachers of PGRI Teacher Training College and State Islamic Institute of Tulungagung, a small town in East Java, Indonesia, in order to underline the basis of making a decision on improving efforts for the sake of creating English Professional Development college teachers who are influential toward the success of English teaching and learning process. The instrument -a questionnaire including three open ended questions-was developed in accordance to reviewing some related research articles about professional developing. This study reveals the fact that to be a professional English college teachers, one should develop ten professional efforts namely perceived professional identity as model; career development needs, theoretical and content knowledge; practical knowledge and professional skills; professional networking; pedagogical content knowledge; perceived benefits of ICT use to students (perceived by the teacher); perceived benefits to the college teachers (self); engaging conducting research.

Abstract

This paper displayed the students’ perspective on innovative teaching model using edmodo in teaching English Phonology as a virtual class development. The data were collected for 6 months starting from compiling proposal in March 2018 to August 2018 in the IAIN Tulungagung campus in the sense of data collection, report preparation, group meetings and most other activities carried out in the Tulungagung and Kediri areas. It involves people who have relevant information about the research theme, they are 46 students from the fourth semester in English majors who answered the pre-observation questionnaire, and post questionnaires but 46 interviewees, consisting of thirty-one women and sixteen men, were interviewed. The data was analysed using a descriptive qualitative approach. The finding revealed that the experienced students of using edmodo affected their readiness to take a part in English Phonology teaching using edmodo as a learning medium. The result of this study proved that the experienced students of using edmodo influences the fluency in learning phonology courses so they found it easier to apply Edmodo, serving as on the advantages (time-effective & efficient, not oblivious about computers, simplifying learning material, interactive, communicative, expressive, reducing cheating task, recognizing class management, creating reading habit) and disadvantages of using edmodo, similarly limited lexical items in content courses; differences in the level of competency, motivation, learning environment and background of previous learning; inadequate internet network; prefer to use gadgets for entertainment communication.

Abstract

Bullying adalah masalah sosial yang kompleks dan mendesak yang bertahan hingga hari ini. Fenomena bullying di sekolah dan lingkungan sosial anak-anak telah mendapatkan perhatian serius baik di Indonesia maupun global. Dengan meningkatnya kesadaran akan pentingnya melindungi hak asasi manusia, termasuk hak anak untuk hidup bebas dari kekerasan dan diskriminasi, penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengeksplorasi pengalaman pribadi korban perundungan dan dampaknya terhadap perkembangan psikososial mereka. Memanfaatkan pendekatan kualitatif dan desain studi kasus naratif, penelitian ini menggali narasi pribadi 10-15 peserta yang pernah mengalami perundungan, baik fisik, verbal, maupun melalui media digital. Data dikumpulkan melalui wawancara mendalam dan dianalisis menggunakan teknik analisis tematik. Temuan ini mengungkapkan bahwa sebagian besar korban bullying enggan berbicara tentang kejahatan yang mereka alami, meskipun memiliki ingatan yang jelas tentang peristiwa tersebut. Bullying dapat terjadi pada siapa saja, termasuk siswa dan guru. Setiap individu memiliki hak untuk menanggapi pengalaman mereka dengan cara yang memenuhi kebutuhan pribadi mereka, dan penting bagi kita semua untuk memastikan bahwa mereka merasa didukung, dihargai, dan dilindungi sepanjang perjalanan mereka. Pengalaman pribadi korban bullying menggambarkan dampak signifikan pada kesejahteraan psikososial.
