Abstract

During the COVID-19 pandemic, student learning activities with respect to learning interest gradually decreased. This is due to the implementation of distance/online learning. As a result, various efforts are needed to increase students' learning motivation in every learning activity. In an effort to improve the learning process, this study aims to describe the application of educators’ roles (didactic, reflective, affective roles) and to find out the inhibiting factors faced by educators (didactic, reflective, affective roles) to enhance motivation to learn social science during the Covid-19 pandemic. The approach used in this study was a descriptive qualitative approach. The data sources in this study included primary sources and secondary sources. The primary source was interviews with social science teachers at Islamic secondary schools (MTs) in Sumbergempol District, Tulungagung. Meanwhile, secondary sources were the documents obtained at the research sites. These data were collected by conducting observation, interviews, and documentation. The results of the study indicate that: (1) The applications of educators’ roles (didactic, reflective, affective roles) to enhance motivation to learn social science during the Covid-19 pandemic are as follows: in applying the didactic role, the educators used learning resources such as textbooks and worksheets. The technique to deliver the materials was summarizing the materials in the form of Word/PDF or explaining the materials through voice notes. The instructional media used by the educators were pictures, WhatsApp, E-learning, and Google Forms. In applying the reflective role, the educators implemented the scientific learning approach. The methods used by the eudcators varied such as the lecture, question and answer, and assignment methods. The instructional models adopted by the educators were discovery learning and problem-based learning. In addition, the educators conducted evaluations at the beginning or at the end of learning to determine the level of success. In applying the affective role, the educators provided good examples and continuous advice. They also sometimes gave threats or even punishments so that students can learn their lesson. (2) The inhibiting factors faced by the educators to enhance motivation to learn social science during the Covid-19 pandemic were the internal factors including lack of learning interest and difficulty in understanding the material. Meanwhile, the external factors were financial constraints and inadequate school facilities. Abstrak Selama masa pandemi COVID-19, aktivitas belajar siswa terhadap minat belajar berangsur-angsur menurun. Hal ini dikarenakan penerapan pembelajaran jarak jauh/online. Oleh karena itu diperlukan berbagai upaya untuk meningkatkan motivasi belajar siswa dalam setiap kegiatan pembelajaran. Dalam upaya meningkatkan proses pembelajaran, penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mendeskripsikan penerapan peran pendidik (peran didaktis, reflektif, afektif) dan untuk mengetahui faktor penghambat yang dihadapi pendidik (peran didaktis, reflektif, afektif) untuk meningkatkan motivasi belajar. belajar ilmu sosial di masa pandemi Covid-19. Pendekatan yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah pendekatan kualitatif deskriptif. Sumber data dalam penelitian ini meliputi sumber primer dan sumber sekunder. Sumber primer adalah wawancara dengan guru IPS MTs di Kecamatan Sumbergempol, Tulungagung. Sedangkan sumber sekunder adalah dokumen-dokumen yang diperoleh di lokasi penelitian. Pengumpulan data dilakukan dengan melakukan observasi, wawancara, dan dokumentasi. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa: (1) Penerapan peran pendidik (peran didaktis, reflektif, afektif) untuk meningkatkan motivasi belajar IPS pada masa pandemi Covid-19 adalah sebagai berikut: dalam penerapan peran didaktis, pendidik menggunakan sumber belajar seperti buku teks dan lembar kerja. Teknik penyampaian materi adalah meringkas materi dalam bentuk Word/PDF atau menjelaskan materi melalui voice note. Media pembelajaran yang digunakan pendidik adalah gambar, WhatsApp, E-learning, dan Google Forms. Dalam menerapkan peran reflektif, pendidik menerapkan pendekatan pembelajaran saintifik. Metode yang digunakan oleh para penyuluh bervariasi seperti metode ceramah, tanya jawab, dan penugasan. Model pembelajaran yang diadopsi oleh pendidik adalah discovery learning dan problem-based learning. Selain itu, pendidik melakukan evaluasi di awal atau di akhir pembelajaran untuk mengetahui tingkat keberhasilannya. Dalam menerapkan peran afektif, pendidik memberikan contoh yang baik dan nasihat yang berkesinambungan. Mereka juga terkadang memberikan ancaman atau bahkan hukuman agar siswa dapat mempelajari pelajarannya. (2) Faktor penghambat yang dihadapi pendidik untuk meningkatkan motivasi belajar IPS di masa pandemi Covid-19 adalah faktor internal antara lain kurangnya minat belajar dan kesulitan dalam memahami materi. Sedangkan faktor eksternal adalah kendala keuangan dan fasilitas sekolah yang belum memadai.

Abstract

This article describes the types of illocutionary acts and the impact of perlocutionary acts on main characters’ dialogues in John Milne’s Novel: The Black Cat”. This study used descrpitive qualitative design. Data of this study were  dialogues in the “The Black Novel”. The study revealed that the dialogue posses five types of illocutionary acts i.e. declaratives, assertives, expressive, directives, commissives and the impact of perlocutionary act. Readers can broaden and enrich the knowledge of speech acts especially Illocutionary, perlocutionary acts;  understand what the speaker intends and know the sequence of events in speaker utterances; practice strategies of speech act in their daily life, and use literary works to learn language naturally.

Abstract

  & This  problem highlighted in this study is  the low  of reading comprehension of the students at MTsN Pucanglaban Tulungagung that is caused by (1) the students’ difficulties to understand about meaning in the text; (2) the students’difficulties to read and spell it correctly whether in spoken form or written form.; (3) the lack of vocabulary. The research design in this study was pre-experimental research with one group pre-test post-test design. This design involves only one group by using pre-test and post-test as the instrument. The sample was VIIIA class which consists of 34 students. The result showed that the students’ mean score in teaching reading comprehension before they are taught using summary technique was 84.37. While the students’ mean score after they are taught using summary technique was 90.43. By comparing significant level in t table at 0.05, it is known that t count is bigger than t table.  Summary technique can be used as an alternative teaching technique to teach reading comprehension to the students at JHS level.

Abstract

This study reports the morphological and morphonemic process of  Alay variation as a communication model among Indonesia youth. Data were analysed by using qualitative approach applying thematic framing. Data were obtained from facebook and online writing communication. The study reveals that morphological process of Alay Words consist of affixation and non-affixation. Affixation includes: Internal change, Infixation, and Core of vowel change. Non-Affixation includes:  Borrowing, Coinage, Clipping, Acronym, Multiple process,  Reduplication, and Combination Text. Morphophonemic process is categorized into Loss of Phonemes, Addition of Phonemes, and  Simple Consonant Change. This way, Indonesia youth use this variety to code and mix among their group for internet account. Alay indicates an alternative in compressing words under 160 character-limit in text messages, ignoring standard rules as method of making strong password for internet discourse and  expression of mood and feeling dealing intimate mood, such as: love, heart break, and relationship.

Abstract

This study boasted some authors’ and editorial teams’ perspectives on academic integrity and adopting coherence properties, then using some Internet-based programs such as Mendeley, Grammar Checker, Turnitin, and coherence properties are considered as media options for 95 academicians such as authors, lecturers, even students, to produce acceptable works. With the correct and honesty of scientific works, then validity can be ensured. The data were figured out by adopting a descriptive qualitative design and compiled in consideration of 4 months, beginning from arranging pre-survey and post-survey in January to April 2022. The findings affirmed that Turnitin has many benefits to check sentences that consist of plagiarism, mark with different colors, and detect the source of website and copy-paste; to check plagiarism on the students’ tasks such as thesis, homework, article, and Mendeley presents some advantages to create a citation and reference manager used by the study and academician in citing references, especially from journals; to help them create bibliography and cite what they wrote; and to collect, arrange, share, and use the references related researches. Then Grammar Checker also provides some advantages, namely to check spelling, punctuation, and grammar structure automatically; to check the mistakes such as run-on sentences, accuracy, and consistency of the text. They employed the coherence pattern of deductive and inductive paragraphs containing complete elements of the claim, support, and warrant, including several strategies; definition strategy, comparative strategy, cause-effect, problem-solution strategy, means-end, listing, and partiting strategy. The results highlight that creating appropriate, standard scientific publications, adopting applicable coherence properties and contextual academic publishing were the requirements of an academician.

Abstract

Tujuan dilakukannya penelitian ini untuk mengetahui sejarah perjalanan KH. Hamim Djazuli atau yang akrab disapa Gus Miek dalam merintis Dzikrul Ghofilin yang sampai saat ini masih dilaksanakan setiap malam jum’at kliwon. Penelitian ini adalah penelitian historis dengan menggunakan metode penelitian literatur review. Adapun hasil yang disajikan dalam penelitian ini yaitu Gus Miek adalah sosok fenomenal dan kontroversial. Ia bukan kiai “biasa”, ia kiai kembara yang menghabiskan banyak waktu di luar pesantren tanpa mengabaikan tugas pokoknya sebagai kiai pesantren. Di sepanjang hidupnya, Gus Miek telah mendirikan dua buah jam’iyah yang hingga kini diikuti oleh ribuan umat. Pertama, jam’iyyah amalan dzikir yang dinamakan Dzikrul Ghofilin dan yang kedua adalah semaan al-Qur’an yang diberi nama Jantiko Mantab. Dakwahnya pun lintas dari orang-orang pinggiran macam tukang becak dan pelacur hingga artis dan pejabat pemerintah. Menurut Gus Miek, Dekatlah kepada Allah..! kalau tidak bisa, maka dekatlah dengan orang yang dekat dengan Allah. Serta jadilah seburuk-buruknya manusia dimata manusia akan tetapi luhur dimata Allah SWT.

Abstract

This study was triggered by the emerging of the developing of UMKM in Tulungagung Regency. UMKM or Usaha Mikro Kecil dan Menengah is considered as an economic unit which needs enhancement, guiding from related stakeholders in order to enable at earning products and service to sell towards the common people or community. This study deployed a descriptive qualitative method by displaying a case study design which showed research procedure and gained descriptive data as the written text. The study’s objective was to analyze the role of PULT-UMKM in enhancing UMKM in Tulungagung Regency. The result of study showed that PULT provided various services to UMKM entrepreneurship by delivering guidance facilitate business permit such as Business Identity Number (NIB), Food Household Industry (PIRT), Halal Certification and other permits in order to support UMKM products of Tulungagung Regency, including obtaining legalization and recognition of society that those products were affordable to consume. Besides, the guidance or enhancement of marketing of UMKM products digitally as well conventionally was done by PLUT-UMKM toward any in pursuance of increasing selling volume of UMKM Tulungagung Regency. Instead of those services, PLUT-UMKM also provides UMKM entrepreneurship to establish capitalization cooperation not only from financial or depository institutions but also non depository institutions (LKNB), including any assistance of the government and the Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR).

Abstract

This research was motivated by some multicultural classroom students’ reactions to practicing writing argumentative text including the fact that Indonesia's adult literacy rate of 95% is not accompanied by the ability to recognize and adopt composed facts, which on average is very little. This research was formerly aimed to depict how multicultural classroom students react to deploying rhetorical strategies to write and advance their linguistic skills as well as cultural diversity The research approach adopted in this research was qualitative. The types of data sources in this study are documents in the form of various thesis manuscripts from a multicultural classroom of Masters’s Study programs at UIN SATU Tulungagung. The data collection technique applied to the main data source in the form of archives or written documents is to rely on the note-taking technique and administrating one online questionnaire survey to thirty-two students as well as attending an interview. In the thesis of multicultural classroom deployed seven strategies counting definition, comparison, cause-and-effect, problem-solution, means-end, listing, partition strategies were applied by students in argumentative text units which they compiled at various levels, both at the sentence unit level, paragraph unit, and essay unit; several facets of appealing the students experience in writing argumentative text also appeared promoting linguistic and cultural diverse in composing argumentative text counting 5 linguistics facets and 2 cultural diverse such as argumentative state/disputatiousness, probing and assortment criticism, adopting composing typical, recognized arrangement, pondering on preceding insight, instructors’ concentrating on awareness development, indigenous upbringing; experience of deploying rhetorical strategies in order to enhance linguistic skill counting conceptual and procedural knowledge to the same degree credibility, logic and emotion mainly deploying cognitive, social, search and metacognitive strategies.

Abstract

This research has the background that the investment risk of Bank Syariah Indonesia is a risk that is absolutely faced by Islamic banking where investment risk occurs because the bank also bears the losses of customers who are financed in profit-sharing based financing. This research aims to determine whether there are differences in the risk management of Hajj investment funds at Indonesian Sharia Banks and other Islamic financial institutions. This type of research is qualitative research. The method used is a case study. The population used is Bank Syariah Indonesia, the Tulungagung Sudirman Sub-Branch Office, which has been operating since 1 February 2021 as Bank Syariah Indonesia (BSI) because there are merger of three Islamic State-Owned Enterprises (BUMN) Islamic banks. Based on the results of research on the application of hajj fund investment risk management at BSI KCP Tulungagung Sudirman is by synchronizing or adjusting tools, methodologies, policies and standard procedures covering governance and risk management aspects of hajj fund investment used by central BSI and BSI KCP Tulungagung Sudirman, as well as Development of a risk management information system for investment in Hajj funds by taking into account the needs and availability of supporting infrastructure.
