Abstract

Abstract

Farmer knowledge is an important factor in obtaining maximum cocoa production results. However, the majority of cocoa farmers in Bulili Village have limited knowledge of proper cultivation procedures in accordance with the Good Agricultural Practice (GAP). The cocoa farms in Bulili Village mostly have old cocoa plants and lack maintenance, which can impact the reduction in production yields. Maximum cocoa production can be achieved if farmers take good care of their crops. To achieve this, we aim to increase the knowledge of cocoa farmers in Bulili Village regarding proper cultivation procedures so that they can increase their production yields. This PKM (Community Service) activity was carried out using the Participatory Action Research (PAR) approach. The target of this activity was 15 cocoa farmers from Bulili Village who did not apply GAP. The results of the activity evaluation showed that the participants’ knowledge increased. Based on the results of the pre- and post-tests, there was an increase in the percentage of farmers with a good level of knowledge. The percentage increase in the number of farmers with a good level of knowledge of the field school activities on crop rehabilitation was 33%, in the GAP field school 47%, pest control 67%, liquid organic fertilizer 60%, and harvest and post-harvest 20%. In addition, the impact of increased knowledge has increased cocoa bean production to an average of 473.2 kg/ha/year from 395.6 kg/ha/year.

Abstract

Article Highlights:- First study on Liqcoris, an organic pesticide made from coconut waste.- 15% Liqcoris concentration effectively inhibits pests and plant pathogens.- Active compounds include phenol and carbamic acid.- Pest and fungal pathogens were isolated directly from diseased plants in a school garden.- Coconut waste-based pesticide offers practical, eco-friendly pest control solutions. Abstract:Sustainable control of plant diseases is essential to maintain biodiversity. Learning using prototypes is an effort to support students in understanding and learning science and technology in order to answer problems related to biodiversity loss. The research aimed to: 1) produce a prototype of Liqcoris organic pesticide (BLM 06) from coconut shell and shell waste, 2) measure the ability of the Liqcoris organic pesticide in inhibiting the growth of plant pathogenic microorganisms, and 3) study the content of  Liqcoris organic pesticide. The data obtained were statistically analyzed using the SAS Version 9.0 program. The analysis carried out was the analysis of variance (ANOVA). Duncan's advanced test was used at the 5% level to determine the differences among the treatments, i.e., 00 = control or without PDA + pesticide; 10 = PDA +  pesticide concentration 10%; 15 = PDA + pesticide concentration 15%, 20 = PDA + pesticide concentration 20%, and 25 = PDA + pesticide concentration 25%. Based on in vitro test, the study showed that Liqcoris concentration of 15% proved effective in killing phytopathogen fungi (P < 0.05), including Fusarium equiseti, Fusarium graminearum, Nigrospora sphaerica and Colletotrichum gloeosporioides. Treatments with various concentrations of 15%, 20%, and 25% effectively produced inhibitory values in the diameter of pathogenic fungal colonies, respectively 0.118 cm, 0.000 cm, and 0.000 cm that were significantly different from concentrations of 10% (2.7140 cm) and control 0% (5.2180 cm). Considering the economic value of production, the best concentration of organic pesticides chosen was 15%. On the other hand, in vivo test results indicated that in controlling mosaic viruses on diseased curly chili variety TM 999, without Liqcoris treatment (control), the intensity of disease attack increased by 20.22% after 6 weeks after treatment (wat). Meanwhile, after applying Liqcoris organic pesticide with a concentration of 15%, the percentage of mosaic virus attacks decreased to 2.72% after 6 wat (P < 0.05). This study showed that the content of 15% Liqcoris organic pesticide was dominated by active compound phenol (35.16%) and carbamic acid, phenyl ester (23.61%).

Abstract

This study aims to analyze raw material inventory control using the Material Requirements Planning method as raw material inventory control and to forecast inventory in 2024. The data analysis method is qualitative quantitative descriptive analysis. This analysis was carried out at CV Kopi Citarasa Persada. Efficiency data processing uses Minitab 21 and Excel. The problem in this study is related to frequent running out of raw materials due to late ordering by the company. The results of the study show that the availability of raw materials for coffee beans, packaging and stickers has a Lead Time of 4 days with the application of the Lot Sizing method, Part Period Balancing technique and the Wagner Within Algorithm which are the most efficient in obtaining minimum ordering costs in this study. Robusta ground coffee demand data for a year in 2023 produces forecast data for January and February 2024 by comparing the Moving Average and Single Exponential Smoothing techniques. The comparison results show that the Moving Average technique is suitable for forecasting raw material inventory because it has a smaller MAD value, the smaller the forecast value obtained, the more accurate it is in determining the size of the data as it was originally.   Keywords: Forecasting, Lot Sizing, Material Requirements Planning.

Abstract

Rice is a staple food for Indonesia and should be available at an affordable price. This study aims to analyze the factors causing fluctuations in rice prices, and analyze the effect of changing prices on the livelihoods of rice farmers. The farmers’ welfare was calculated using Farmer Exchange Rate (FER). The analysis was conducted using a simultaneous equation model, utilizing time series data from 2009 to 2023. This study employed Two-Stage Least Squares (2SLS) and Multiple Linear Regression techniques. The findings reveal that rice production is significantly influenced by the previous year’s rice prices and the size of the harvested area. Meanwhile, the factors affecting consumption are the rice price variable and income levels, as well as the factors influencing rice prices, which include the price of unmilled dry grain, rice production, and the highest retail price. Meanwhile, regarding the welfare of rice farmers measured by the FER, it is known that the FER in East Java has fluctuated from 2009 to 2023. The highest contributor to the rice FER occurred in 2023, reaching 115.64%, with an average FER for East Java from 2009 to 2023 of 102.86%. This indicates that the Rice FER is in a surplus state, suggesting that rice farmers are prosperous.
