Abstract

The discourse on human trafficking and the efforts to overcome it are crucial issues that has received public attention in Indonesia and all around the globe. However, different perspectives among experts, activists and organizations gave rise to different approaches in analyzing the source of the problem, what is seen as the problem, and the intervention to solve the problem. This research focuses on community organizing of women victims of human trafficking as the approach which has been implemented to challenge oppression by Mitra Wacana Women Resource Center in Kabupaten Kulon Progo, Daerah Istimewa Yogyakarta. This qualitative study is aimed to explore their perspectives on defining human trafficking and its complexities, their analysis of its causes and the intervention method. The theory of anti-oppressive is applied to analyze the data and findings within this research, which results in three main points; first, Mitra Wacana’s critical awareness raises a comprehensive perspective on the complexity of the human trafficking issue by identifying the community as victims of a discriminatory and exploitative system. Second, organizing ex-migrant workers in Pusat Pembelajaran Perempuan dan Anak/P3A (Learning Center for Women and Children) is applied as the approach to strengthen rights-based capacity for the Kulon Progo community. Third, an integrated approach against oppression within human trafficking tried to synergize three levels of personal, cultural and structural approach. In the case of human trafficking in Kulon Progo, the integrated approach consists of public education, information development, and policy advocacy on humanity issues by involving the organization of ex-migrant workers.

Abstract

Indonesia ranks fifth for the world’s most significant ginger production in 2020 after India, Nigeria, China, and Nepal. However, this does not make Indonesia a major ginger exporter in the international market. This study analyzes the position of Indonesian ginger in the global market compared to its competitors based on comparative advantage, competitive advantage, and trade specialization. The research methods used Revealed Comparative Trade Advantage (RTCA), Export Competitiveness Index (XCi), and Trade Specialization Index (ISP). The data used in this study is secondary data for the period 2006-2020 obtained from the Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) with item code 720 (ginger), which consist of the export and import value of ginger from the country concerned, the export and import value of world ginger, and also the export and import value of all goods from the country affected. The result showed that the Indonesian ginger commodity has comparative competitiveness, competitive competitiveness, and trade specialization as an exporter of ginger in the international market. RCTA analysis shows an average value of 0,538, making Indonesia the country with the lowest comparative competitiveness among other competitors. XCi analysis indicates that Indonesia has the highest competitive competitiveness compared to its competitors, with an average value of 1,351. ISP analysis shows that Indonesia tends to be an exporter of ginger with an average value of 0,29 and is in the growth stage. Indonesia has the potential to develop the competitiveness of ginger exports in the international market by optimizing the utilization of existing resources and improving the quality of ginger. The competition for ginger exports in the global market is currently very tight, so for further research, it is recommended to analyze non-traditional markets that can be used as a potential to develop the Indonesian ginger export market.

Abstract

SEAMEO BIOTROP produces daily waste from oyster mushroom baglog (Pleurotus ostreatus), dry organic waste that contains little water, such as dry leaves, grass straw, and citronella distilled waste. Managing oyster mushroom baglog waste, leaf waste, grass straw, and citronella distilled waste independently at SEAMEO BIOTROP as organic compost BIOPOS (BIOTROP Compost) is an environmentally friendly practice and can provide benefits both economically and ecologically. Apart from being carried out to protect biodiversity from decline, this study can also keep the soil system healthy and sustainable. The aim of this research is to: (1) make BIOPOS organic compost through the use of oyster mushroom baglog, leaf waste, leaf straw, and citronella distilled waste; (2) determine the influence of various types of BIOPOS organic compost (KT1, KT2, KT3) on the chemical content of compost. Research stages include: (1) creating BIOPOS organic compost, (2) measuring the chemical content of BIOPOS organic compost, and (3) measuring the effectiveness of BIOPOS. During the storage period of 30 dam up to 180 dam, BIOPOS organic compost which still contains N (0,54%), P (36,8%), K (7,23%) and complies with SNI 19-7030-2004 quality standards is KT3. In measuring C-Organic value, BIOPOS code KT2 with a storage period of 30 dam gained C-Organic amount of 28,36%, satisfying quality standards. The application of BIOPOS KT1, KT2, and KT3 with a pH range of 8,2- 8,3 high pH can be used to correct problems that often occur in acidic soils and is not effective when applied to sub-optimal alkaline soils because it will cause soil pH to increase sharply. Key words: BIOPOS, citronella distilled waste, grass straw, leaf waste, oyster mushroom baglog waste

Abstract

One of the leading producers and exporters of cassava in the world is Indonesia. Jember Regency is one of the highest cassava production centers in East Java, with an annual production capacity of 9,492 tons. This processed tape food product, typical of Jember Regency, is produced from the high supply of cassava. There is a need to find processed cassava products considering the high interest in tape products because of their unique quality, so this product is much more popular as souvenirs or souvenirs typical of Jember. The research aims to perfect marketing tactics and determine how the marketing mix (7P) influences consumer decisions in purchasing processed cassava products from UD Purnama Jati Jember. Questionnaire methodology is a technique for collecting information through statements or questions asked to respondents. Because the p-value is smaller than 0.05, product, price, place, and employees influence the results of consumer purchasing decisions at UD Purnama Jati. However, because the p-value is more significant than 0.05, we can rule out the possibility that factors related to the product process, physical evidence, or advertising influence consumers' final purchasing decisions
