Abstract

Kata kunci: Pesawat Tanpa Awak (Drone), Ancaman, Pertahanan, Perbatasan Indonesia Abstract The development of an increasingly modern era has created new forms of threats to national security and defense, including in border areas. There are spying operations with satellite devices, smuggling of foreign ships, entry of terrorism, sabotage and wiretapping of communications can occur through border areas that are not properly guarded. These threats disrupt Indonesia's security stability, this is based on the fact that Indonesia has quite complex border points with neighboring countries, but is not supported by sufficient personnel to guard each border point. For this reason, as a sovereign country, Indonesia should make strategies related to defense in the border region by following the current developments. The use of unmanned aircraft technology (drones) is one of the answers for the Indonesian people to be able to guard their border areas. For this reason, the purpose of this study is to analyze the extent to which the use of drones is so important in maintaining the defense of Indonesia's borders. This study uses qualitative methods with library research data collection techniques and focus group discussions study. Keywords: Unmanned Aerial Vehicle (Drone), Threats, Defense, Indonesian Borders

Abstract

The Strait of Hormuz, a critical maritime passageway connecting the Persian Gulf to the Arabian Sea and Indian Ocean, plays a pivotal role in global energy trade. This study examines the multifaceted challenges surrounding this strategic waterway, which varies from 55 to 95 kilometers in width. The research explores the strait's economic significance, not only for Persian Gulf nations but for the global market, as evidenced by the high density of maritime traffic. The analysis encompasses the recurring security disturbances in recent decades, including tanker attacks and piracy incidents, which compound regional security complexities. Furthermore, the geopolitical dynamics of the Strait of Hormuz are scrutinized, particularly in relation to tensions between Iran, the United States, and Gulf states. Historical conflicts, such as the Iran-Iraq War and the First Gulf conflict, are evaluated to demonstrate the strait's impact on global oil prices and economic stability. The study also addresses challenges like theft and extortion, which further complicate navigation and maritime security. By providing a comprehensive analysis of the geographical, economic, and security characteristics of the Strait of Hormuz, this research aims to elucidate the challenges in maintaining regional and international stability, emphasizing the waterway's critical role in global energy security and international trade.

Abstract

Jakarta faces a major risk of flooding. Therefore, a strategy is needed for massive disaster risk reduction. This study aims to analyze the implementation of flood risk reduction in Jakarta. The research method uses a descriptive qualitative approach with data collection through interviews, observations, and secondary data. The existing condition of the flood risk reduction system in Jakarta is built by strengthening early warnings that are developed based on the analysis of information collected from various parties. There are at least six ways used by BPBD to build a flood risk reduction system in Jakarta, namely: (1) the use of social media disseminated through the network of Regional Apparatus Organizations (OPD) and the community, (2) DWS, AWLR and AWS technology (3) SMS blasting system in collaboration with the Ministry of Communication and Information Technology (Kominfo) and using the Base Transceiver Station (BTS) network in flood-prone areas, (4) the use of volunteer radio networks, (5) the use of Simba and (6) Flood Monitoring System. Each of these methods has an important role in disseminating early warning information and helping communities to act immediately in the face of flood threats. These methods have reflected efforts to build preparedness in line with the Sendai Framework for Disaster Risk Reduction 2015-2030. The main focus of implementing these tools as instruments for data collection, risk information management, and access to location-based information as the basis for disaster risk reduction efforts.

Abstract

Climate change has emerged as a pressing global issue, significantly impacting various aspects of human life and the environment. In the context of the shipping industry, a crucial pillar of international trade, the effects of climate change are both direct and profound. By 2025, the repercussions of climate change are expected to become increasingly evident, with rising sea levels, predicted to reach between 0.3 to 1 meter by the end of the century, altering existing port topographies and shipping routes. The frequency and intensity of extreme weather events, such as tropical storms and high waves, are anticipated to rise, posing risks to vessels and potentially leading to port closures and disruptions in established shipping routes. Additionally, the melting Arctic ice is opening new shipping lanes, such as the Northern Sea Route, which, while offering faster transit between Europe and Asia, also presents significant navigational and environmental challenges. This article aims to explore these impacts in depth, focusing on how climate change will affect global shipping routes in 2025. Through the analysis of current data and case studies, it seeks to provide insights into the challenges and opportunities faced by the shipping industry in addressing the urgent issue of climate change. A better understanding of these issues is essential for stakeholders to take necessary steps to adapt and mitigate negative impacts on the environment and economy.

Abstract

A country with so many ethnicities and cultures can be likened to a double-edged sword. This is a very interesting discussion and a concern for many people. This ethnic and cultural wealth can provide beauty, diversity, and harmony if the existing differences are maintained and well-regulated. However, this can also cause problems if there is intolerance and discrimination against an ethnic or cultural group. The most undesirable scenario is when these differences cause divisions in society. This study employs qualitative methods with a descriptive-analytical approach to explore Indonesia's strategies for promoting peace education as a multicultural country in Southeast Asia. Through holistic literature studies and inductive analysis, the research identifies key strategies such as integrating peace education into formal and non-formal systems, fostering collaboration through the Pentahelix model involving academics, businesses, communities, government, and media, and embedding peace values into education curricula. The findings highlight Indonesia's challenges as a multicultural nation with peace vulnerabilities that make conflict difficult to eliminate. The research emphasizes the need to bridge the gap between the ideal goals of peace and the realities of societal conditions. By strengthening peace education, the Indonesian government can address the root causes of disunity and foster harmony. Drawing on the fourth precept of Pancasila, which underscores Indonesia’s commitment to lasting peace and social justice, the study concludes that unity in diversity can be realized through effective education strategies. Initiatives such as the "Peace School" and "Peace Village" programs exemplify the success of Indonesia's approach. Furthermore, Indonesia’s leadership in ASEAN and its commitment to building a world order based on mutual respect underline its broader role in advancing regional peace and stability. This collaborative strategy is essential for minimizing conflicts, ensuring national security, and maintaining Indonesia's unity in the face of its demographic and cultural complexities.

Abstract

The importance of an individual's citizenship status has led the international community to establish several legal instruments related to citizenship status. The right to renounce citizenship is based on the principle that individuals have the right to determine their own citizenship, subject to the reasonable requirements of the laws of the involved states. This research method employs a qualitative approach, focusing on examining the application of legal norms and principles to legal theories and doctrines. This involves identifying the policies of various states regarding the citizenship status of families who sympathize with ISIS. Consequently, the research aims to formulate policy considerations of states concerning international legal provisions
