Abstract

Colostrum is the first milk that comes out, often yellow or can also be clear, which contains living cells that resemble white blood cells that can kill germs so that they can protect the baby's body from various infectious diseases. The theory argues that things that stimulate colostrum release, one of which is by doing lactation massage. Lactation massage is a massage along both sides of the spine. The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of lactation massage on colostrum release in postpartum mothers in the Working Area of the Bandul Health Center, Meranti Islands Regency. The type of research used in this study is quantitative research with a Pre-Experimental research design with a post-only design approach with a control group. The research time was from June to December 2025. The population in this study were 32 postpartum mothers with a sample of 32 respondents divided into 2 groups, namely 16 intervention groups and 16 control groups with a Purposive random sampling technique. The instruments used were SOPs and observation sheets. The results of the univariate study showed that the average colostrum output in postpartum mothers before being given to the intervention group was 2.25 and after the intervention was 15.88, while the average colostrum output in postpartum mothers before the control group was 1.94 and after the control group was 6.88. The results of the analysis using the paired t-test statistical test obtained a p-value = 0.000. The research output is a journal. The conclusion is that there is an effect of lactation massage on colostrum output in postpartum mothers in the working area of the Bandul Health Center, Meranti Islands Regency. Suggestions for mothers who are breastfeeding are to do lactation massage so that breast milk production increases. Keywords: Lactation Massage, colostrum production, and Post Partum mothers

Abstract

Exclusive breastfeeding is often constrained by low lactation volume among postpartum mothers, necessitating the use of locally available interventions to support successful breastfeeding. Moringa oleifera leaves are known to contain phytoestrogens, vitamins, and minerals that play a role in stimulating breast milk production. This study aimed to analyze the effectiveness of Moringa oleifera leaf extract in increasing breast milk production among postpartum mothers at PMB Rosita, Pekanbaru. This research employed a pre-experimental design with a pretest-posttest approach. A total of 12 postpartum mothers were selected as respondents. Breast milk production was measured before and after the administration of Moringa oleifera extract, and data were analyzed using a independent sample t-test. The results revealed that before the intervention, the mean breast milk production was 53.33 with a standard deviation of 17.23, and most respondents (66.7%) showed no increase. After the intervention, the mean production rose to 74.17 with a standard deviation of 19.28, with almost all respondents (91.7%) experiencing an increase. Statistical analysis showed a p-value of 0.002 (p0.05), indicating a significant difference between pretest and posttest. In conclusion, Moringa oleifera leaf extract was proven effective in enhancing breast milk production among postpartum mothers. These findings support lactation physiology theory and strengthen recent literature on the use of local plants as natural galactagogues. The intervention has the potential to serve as a complementary strategy to promote exclusive breastfeeding and improve maternal and infant health in Indonesia.Keyword : Moringa oleifera, Breast milk production, Postpartum mothers, Natural, Galactagogue

Abstract

Visits of toddlers to integrated health posts (Posyandu) are a vital effort to monitor child growth and development. However, the frequency of these visits remains suboptimal in several areas, including Posyandu Anyelir in Pantai Cermin Village, Kampar Regency. This study aimed to determine the influence of knowledge, attitude, support from health workers, the role of health cadres, and family support on toddler visits to Posyandu. A quantitative method with a cross-sectional design was applied, involving 92 mothers of toddlers as respondents. Data were collected using a structured questionnaire and analyzed using the chi-square test. The results showed that all variables had a significant relationship with the activeness of Posyandu visits: knowledge (p=0.000; OR=4.590–96.073), attitude (p=0.003; OR=1.565–10.222), support from health workers (p=0.001; OR=1.923–12.124), the role of cadres (p=0.000; OR=4.755–37.559), and family support (p=0.001; OR=1.923–12.124). It can be concluded that all these factors significantly influence the activeness of toddler visits to Posyandu. Educational interventions, strengthening the roles of cadres and health workers, and involving the family are essential strategies to increase community participation in Posyandu activities. Kata Kunci : Toddler visits, Posyandu, knowledge, attitude, family support

Abstract

Infertility is a reproductive health problem that impacts the quality of life of couples, while obesity is known to be a significant risk factor that can affect fertility through hormonal disorders, insulin resistance, and ovulation quality. This study aims to analyze the relationship between obesity and infertility in women of childbearing age at the Mercy Fertility Clinic in Pekanbaru. This study used a quantitative method with a cross-sectional analytical design, conducted in January–August 2025. The study population was all 117 women of childbearing age who visited the clinic in 2024. A sample of 91 respondents was selected using a purposive sampling technique based on inclusion criteria, namely women aged 20–45 years who were diagnosed with primary infertility and were willing to be respondents. Primary data were obtained through BMI measurements and filling out questionnaires, while secondary data came from clinic records. Data processing was carried out through editing, coding, entry, and cleaning stages, then analyzed univariately and bivariately with the Chi-Square test (α = 0.05). The results showed that 69.2% of respondents were obese and 69% experienced infertility. There was a significant association between BMI and infertility (p = 0.000). It is recommended that the Mercy Pekanbaru Fertility Clinic provide weight management services through nutritional counseling, healthy diet programs, and BMI monitoring to improve the success of pregnancy programs in women of childbearing age. Keywords: Body Mass Index (BMI), Obesity, Infertility, Women of Reproductive Age
