Abstract

The objective of this study was to know the effect of the interaction of a solid compost utilization and cellulolytic microorganisms and to get the best effect on seedling growth of oil palm (Elaeis guineensis Jacq.) In the planting medium PMK in the main nursery.The experiment was conducted at the experimental farm of the Faculty of Agriculture, University of Riau from January 2015 to April 2015.The study arranged experimentally using Completely Randomized Design (CRD) factorial. The treatments consisting of two factors: the first factor utilization of solid compost consists of 4 levels as follows giving of solid compost (0, 25, 50 and 75) g/polybag plants and the second factor giving cellulolytic microorganisms consists of 3 levels as follows giving of MOS (0, 10 and 20) ml/polybag plants. Thus there are 12 combinations of treatment with repeated3timesthen obtained 36 experimental units.Parameters observed were the increase of seeds height, increase of humpconvolution, increaseofleaves, volume of root, rootshootratioanddry weightof oil palm seedlings.Data were analyzed statistically using ANOVA and followed by HSD at level of 5%.The results showed that the interaction of a solid compost utilization and giving of MOS significant effect on the overall observed parameters. Utilization of solid compost 75 g/polybag and giving MOS 20 ml/polybag showed the best result for the overall observed parameters.  Keywords : Elaeis guineensis Jacq.,solid compost, cellulolytic microorganisms

Abstract

Bioethanol’s liquid waste (vinasse) is one of organic matter that pottentialy as organic fertilizer. The objective of this research was to observe the effect of vinasse and get the best dose on seedling growth of the cocoa plant. This research used completely randomized design non factorial consists of 5 treatments, they are without bioethanol’s liquid waste, 300 ml/polybag, 600 ml/polybag, 900 ml/polybag, 1200 ml/polybag. Each unit of treatment was repeated 4 times to obtain 20 units of experiment and the experimental unit comprises 4 plants, which is two of the plants used as plant samples. Parameters observed were plant height, number of leaves, steam diameter, leaf area, root volume, the ratio of crown roots and the dry weight. The results showed that significantly affect the bioethanol’s liquid waste increase in all parameters and the best treatment can be obtained by providing a dose of bioethanol’s liquid waste 600 ml/polybag. Abstract

Orchids are very popular ornamental plant because it has a diverse kind. The flowers are used for various purposes. One way to increase the growth of Dendrobium orchid by using a mixture of planting media and fertilizer through the leaves, because the fertilizer is already contained nutrients needed by plants orchid. The study aimed to obtain the composition of planting medium with a good concentration of liquid fertilizer for the growth of Dendrobium orchid (Dendrobium sp.) and conducted experimentally at Gerai Tanaman Hias Intan Bertuah in Jl. Arifin Ahmad, Pekanbaru, Riau by using Rancangan Acak Kelompok (RAK) consist of 9 treatment (media fern, wood charcoal, coconut husk, broken bricks with Growmore concentrations of 0.5, 1. 5 and 2.5 g/liter of water) with 3 replications. Each experimental unit contained 3 plants and 81 population. The parameters measured were the number of shoots, plant height, stem diameter, leaf length and leaf number. The results showed that treatment with the composition of planting media with concentration of Growmore fertilizer had not significant effect on all parameters was observed that the number of shoots, plant height, stem diameter, leaf length and number of leaves, whereas treatment ferns planting media composition, wood charcoal, coconut fiber with Growmore 1.5 g/liter of water gives the best results for the parameters of the number of shoots, plant height and number of leaves on the growth of Dendrobium orchids (Dendrobium sp.). Abstract

The study aims to determine the effect of concentration of extracts of onion on the growth pepper cuttings and to get the best onion extract concentration. This research has been conducted at the Experimental Farm, Faculty of Agriculture, University of Riau, from February to May 2016. This study used a completely randomized design (CRD), which consist of 5 treatments onion extract (0%, 20%, 40%, 60% and 80%) and four replications. Data were analyzed using ANOVA. Parameters were observed, namely, the percentage of live cuttings, shoots emerging time, shoot length, number of leaves, number of roots, roots length, and root volume. The result showed that the concentration of red onion extract as a natural plant growth regulator had no significant effect on all parameters of the growth pepper cuttings. An onion extract concentration of 60% gives better result in all parameters.Keywords: pepper, pepper cuttings, red onion extract

Abstract

The objective of the research was to determine growth and production of baby kailan (Brassica alboglabra L.) with giving Tricho-compost empty bunch of oil palm and get the best treatment for growt hand production of baby kailan. This research was conducted at the land of the Laboratory of Plants of Agriculture Faculty, University of Riau for 2 months. The research used Randomized Block Design (RBD) consisted of 5 treatments with four replications. The Tricho-compost empty bunch of oil palm treat ments as follows: P0 : Tricho-compost empty bunch of oil palm 0 ton/ha, P1 : Tricho-compost empty bunch of oil palm 3 ton/ha, P2 : Tricho-compost empty bunch of oil palm 6 ton/ha, P3 : Tricho-compost empty bunch of oil palm 9 ton/ha and P4 : Tricho-compost empty bunch of oil palm 12 ton/ha. Data were analyzed by analysis of variance and further test DNMRT at 5% level. Parameters observed were: plant height, number of leaves, leaf area, root volume, plant fresh weight per plot and weight of crop suitable for consumption per plot. The results showed application of Tricho-compost empty bunch of oil palm significantly affect to all parameters tested. The treatment of Tricho-compost empty bunch of oil palm 12 ton/ha is the best concentration for all parameters tested. Keyword : Brassica alboglabra L., tricho-compost empty bunch of oil palm

Abstract

The research aims to determine effect of sawdust ashes combined with urea, TSP, KCl on the growth and yield of chilli (Capsicum annuum L.) on peat land. This research was conducted on May 2014 until August 2014 in the experimental garden of peatland Agriculture faculty of University of Riau, Rimbo Panjang Village, Tambang District, Kampar. Research was conducted experimentally using Randomized Block Design (RBD) factorial 3x3. Each treatment was repeated 3 times to obtain 27 experimental units. Each experimental unit consisted of 14 plants and five plants was taken as a sample plants. The first factor consists of 3 levels and the second factor is Urea + TSP + KCl (P) fertilizer consists of 3 levels. Oberserved parameters were the plant height, days to flowering, days to harvesting, fruit weight per plant, fruit weight per plot, fruit length, fruit diameter and number of fruits per-plant samples. Data were analyzed by ANOVA and further tested using Duncan`s New Multiple Range Test (DNMRT) at the level of 5%. The results shows giving sawdust ashes and urea, TSP, KCl fertilizer influenced on the plant height, fruit length, stem diameter, fresh fruit weight per-plant and fresh fruit weight per-plot. Giving sawdust ashes with dose of 12 kg/plot and urea 100 g/ plot, TSP 200 g/ plot, KCl 160 g/plot is the best dose in enhancing growth and production of chilli plants in peatland.   Keywords: chilli, peatland, sawdust ashes

Abstract

 This study aims to determine the growth and production of mustard using a planting medium composition and concentration of liquid organic fertilizer market vegetable waste with verticulture system. This researsch has been conducted at the Faculty of Agricultural Experimental Station Unit Riau University Campus Bina Widya KM 12,5 Panam Pekanbaru, for 4 months is from April to July 2017. This study used a randomized factorial block design (FBD). The first factor is the composition of the growing medium consisting of 4 levels, top soil: rice husk: sawdust. M0: top soil, M1: 3:2:1, M2: 2:3:2, M3: 1:1:3. The second factor is the concentration of liquid organic fertilizer market vegetable  waste which consits of 4 levels, P0:0 ml.liter of water-1,  P1: 150 ml.liter of water-1, P2: 300 ml.liter of water-1, P3: 450 ml.liter of water-1.The parameters those observed were: plant height, leaf number, fresh weight, consumable weight, and the root volume. The Ducan’s multiple range test at the 5% level was used for mean separations after analiysis of variance. The composition of embedding medium top soil, rice husk, sawdust (2:3:2) and the concentration of liquid organic fertilizer aste vegetable market of 300 ml.liter of water-1 significantly affected the plant height, leaf number, fresh weight and the root volume.Keywords: mustard, planting medium, liquid organic fertilizer market vegetable waste, verticulture.

Abstract

This research was intended to determine the possibility of manure application to replace inorganig fertilizer on crop growth and seed yield of soybean. A field experiment was conducted at the experimental farm of the Faculty of Agriculture University of Riau, Pekanbaru in 2013. The experiment was arranged in randomized block designwith seven treatments and three replications. The treatments were recommended rate of inorganic fertilizers (Urea 55 kg/hectare, TSP 55 kg/hectare and KCl 73 kg/hectare), chicken manure at rates of 2 tons, 3 tons and 4 tons per hectare; cow manure at rates of 10 tons, 12 tons and 14 tones per hectare. Seed of G19BE genotype was planted in a plot of 3m x 2 m with the planting space of 40 cm x 20 cm. All rates of animal manure were apllied 10 days before planting while fertilizer was applied at planting date. The results showed that inorganic fertilizer and any kinds of manure affected vegetative growth of soybean at the same manners. Application of cow and chiken  manure, in general, yielded more filled pods, more number of seeds per plant, seed weight per plant and seed yield m -2 than inorganic fertilizer application. Chicken manure ate of 4 ton hectare yielded greater seed weight per m² compared to cow manure or artificial fertilizer. This result suggests that organic manure may be utilized to replace inorganic fertilizer in soybean cultivation.           Keywords: Chicken  manure, cow manure, soybean

Abstract

The research aims to find out the effect of interaction between rice straw compost and NPK fertilizer and get the right dosage for growth and yield of eggplant optimally. The research was conducted at Experimental Garden, Faculty of Agriculture, Riau University, Pekanbaru.  The research was conducted for 5 months, from May to September 2018. The research was conducted experimentally in factorial 3 x 3 using a completely randomized design (CRD). The first factor was the dosage of rice straw compost consists of 3 levels (5, 10 and 15 ton.ha-1). The second factor was the dosage of NPK fertilizer (0, 50 and 100 kg.ha-1.). The observed parameterswere plant height, stem diameter, days of flowering, days of harvesting, fruit diameter, fruit length, fruit weight, number of fruits per plant and production per plot. The observed parameters were analyzed byvariance analysis and followed by Duncan's multiple distance test at level 5%. The results of the research showed thatrice straw compostand NPK fertilizer increased the growth of eggplant such as plant height, stem diameter, days of flowering, increased fruit weight, fruit length, number of fruits per plant, production per plot but  did not accelerate days of harvesting and did not increase fruit diameter. The treatment of rice straw compost at dosage 5, 10 and 15 tons.ha.-1 and NPK fertilizer at dosage 100 kg.ha.-1 gave better result on the growth and yield of  eggplant.Keywords: Eggplant, rice straw compost, NPK fertilizer

Abstract

The research aimed to examine the interaction of fertilizer and NPK organotriba in peat on the growth and yield of sweet corn as well as getting the best dose. Research has been carried out in the garden Experiment Riau University Faculty of Agriculture of the month of February until May 2016. This study used a randomized block design in the form of factorial consisting of two factors. The first factor is fertilizer organotriba consists of 5 levels without organotriba, 2,5 ton/ha, 5 ton/ha, 7,5 ton/ha and 10 ton/ha. The second factor is a 16:16:16 NPK fertilizer which consists of three levels without NPK, 150 kg/ha and 300 kg/ha, two factors combined to obtain 15 combined treatment and the respective foreign re-treatment at 3 times, in order to obtain 45 experimental units. Each experimental unit consisted of 32 plants, six plants sampled. Data were analyzed statistically and continued using DNMRT at 5% parameters measured were the rate of plant growth, leaf area, the ratio of editorial roots, dry weight of plant, time appear male flowers and time appear female flowers, harvesting, production per plot, heavy with the husk, weight without husk, diameter and length of the cob plant sweet corn, data results showed that administration of organotriba dose of 10 ton/ha and NPK fertilizer dose of 300 kg/ha produce weight of 10,7 ton/ha higher than that of the untreated is 2,05 ton /ha  Keywords: sweet corn, Peatland, Fertilizers Organotriba
