Abstract

Lowland rice is a commodity crop that is very influential in the survival of many people, especially inhabitants in most Asian countries, especially Indonesia. Rice is the staple food of Indonesian people, the shortage of which can result in complications for the country. In connection with this food security issue, it is necessary to make efforts to prevent food shortages. The national production capacity of rice must be increased. The long-term goal is to increase the productivity of rice plants to support Indonesia towards rice self-sufficiency. This study has a short-term objective, namely, to determine the effect of potassium fertilizer and to obtain the best dose on the growth and production of rice plants. This was a factorial experiment using a completely randomized design (CRD) with two factors: the KCl fertilizer dosage and the frequency of fertilizer application. The results showed that the best treatment was with a potassium fertilizer dosage of 150 kg ha-1 with a frequency of 2-time fertilizer application.

Abstract

Utilization of baglog waste as a growth medium for ANC worms as a raw material for making formulated fish feed provides opportunities as a side business for oyster mushroom entrepreneurs to increase income. The purpose of this service is to provide assistance to target partners, in this case oyster mushroom entrepreneurs, in utilizing ANC worm flour as a substitute for fish meal and then formulated with Trichoderma sp. fermented bran. The results of the dedication that has been carried out show that there has been an increase in partners' skills in making formulated fish fefazidah@usu.ac.ided and developing the potential of science and technology-based independent entrepreneurs who develop from mushroom businesses. After this dedication, it is hoped that the partners can continue to develop this worm farming business and the application of worm-formulated feed for fish farming which has also been developed by partners so as to create an integrated oyster mushroom-based farming center.

Abstract

spice vegetable and has long been intensively cultivated. Shallot productivity in Riau Province is relatively low due to low soil fertility. Efforts to increase shallot productivity can be done through fertilization, one of which is by applying a combination of cow manure and NPK. This research aims to determine the interaction of giving cow manure and NPK fertilizer and the influence of each factor on the growth and production of shallot from seed. The research was carried out in thr experimental garden of the Faculty of Agriculture, Riau University experimentally according to a completely randomized design (CRD), consisting of 2 factors. Factor I is cow manure with 3 levels: S0= 0 t.ha-1, S1= 7.5 t.ha-1, S3= 15 t.ha-1, and Factor II was NPK fertilizer with 3 levels: N1= 100 kg.ha-1, N2= 200 kg.ha-1, N3= 300 kg.ha-1. Thel data obtainedl were analyzed statisticallyl using analysisl of variancel and continuedl with Duncan's multiple  range testl at the 5% level using the SAS application. Parameters observed included plant height, number of leaves, number of tubers, number of tubers per hill, fresh weight of tubers per plot and weight of tubers suitable forstorage per plot. The result showed that the combination of cow manure and NPK increased the growth and production of shallots in all parameters. The combination of 15 t.ha-1 cow manure with 200 kg.ha-1 NPK fertilizer showed the best growth and production compared  to other treatments.

Abstract

Shallots are a commodity that people need to use as a food flavoring and other things whose availability in Riau is still lacking and are imported from neighboring provinces such as West Sumatra, Brebes and others, and this is an opportunity for farmers in Riau to cultivate shallots. The success of a shallot growing business is determined by the knowledge and skills of how to grow shallots, for this reason there is a need for community service activities, Community Empowerment regarding Shallot Cultivation in Sungai Pinang Village, Kubu Babussalam District. Community empowerment through shallot cultivation in Sungai Pinang Village, Kubu Babussalam District aims to increase farmer knowledge and skills as well as farmer welfare regarding shallot cultivation.

Abstract

Soybean productivity in Riau Province is low with high market demand. Thel data obtainedl were analyzed statisticallyl using analysisl of variancel and continuedl with lDuncan's multiplel range testl at the 5% llevel. The parametersl observed werel plant lheight, numberl of primaryl branches, floweringl age, harvest lage, numberl of podsl per lplant, number of pithyl pods per plant, seedl weight perl plant, weightl of 100 seedsl and seed weightl per plot. Thel results ofl the research showedl that thel administration ofl 15 t.ha-1 Trichocompost corn litter with NPK 100 kg.ha-1 showed growth and production that tended to be better compared to other treatments in all parameters, except for flowering age and harvest age parameters. Keywords: Growth, Yield, Corn Litter Trichocompost, NPK INTISARIProduktivitas kedelai di Provinsi Riau termasuk rendah dengan permintaan pasar yang tinggi, Penelitianl ini bertujuanl untuk mengetahuil pengaruh interaksil pemberian Trichokompos serasah jagung danl pupuk NPK sertal pengaruhnya masing-masing terhadapl pertumbuhan danl hasil tanamanl kedelai. Penelitianl dilaksanakan dil kebun percobaanl Fakultas Pertanianl Universitas lRiau. Penelitianl dilakukan secaral eksperimental dalaml bentuk faktoriall yang disusunl berdasarkan rancanganl acak lengkapl (lRAL). Faktorl I yaitu Trichokomposl serasah jagung yang terdiril dari 3 dosis danl faktor II yaitu pupukl NPK yang terdiri dari 3 dosis. Data yang diperoleh dianalisisl secara statistikl menggunakan analisis ragaml dan dilanjutkanl dengan ujil jarak bergandal Duncan padal taraf l5%. Parameterl yang diamatil adalah tinggil tanaman, jumlah cabang primer, umurl berbunga, umur panen, jumlahl polong perl tanaman, jumlahl polong bernas perl tanaman, beratl biji perl tanaman, bobot 100l biji danl berat bijil per lplot. Hasill penelitian menunjukkan  bahwal  pemberian Trichokompos serasah jagungl 15 t.ha-1 dengan NPK 100 lkg.ha-1 memperlihatkan pertumbuhanl dan produksil yang cenderung lebihl baik dibandingkanl dengan perlakuanl lainnya pada semua parameter, kecuali parameter umurl berbunga danl umur lpanen. Kata Kunci: Pertumbuhan, lHasil, Trichokompos Serasah Jagung, NPK

Abstract

Production of sweet potatoes in Riau Province has decreased from 9,667 tons in 2018, 8,021 tons in 2019, to 7,305 tons in 2020, due to a decrease in harvested area of 490 ha in 2018, 483 ha in 2019, and 371 ha in 2020. To increase production, efforts that can be done is by expanding the planting area by utilizing Inceptisol soil. However, Inceptisol soil has constraints in terms of its chemical and physical properties. Effort to develop sweet potatoes in Inceptisol soil is by using empty fruit bunch (EFB) ash which is a source of potassium, although farmers usually use inorganic potassium fertilizer (KCl). This research aims to determine the effect of using two sources of potassium on the growth and production of sweet potato. The research used a non-factorial completely randomized design with 5 treatments, KCl 100 kg/ha, KCl 125 kg/ha, EFB ash 1000 kg/ha, EFB ash 2000 kg/ha and EFB ash 3000 kg/ha. The data obtained were analyzed statistically using analysis of variance followed by Duncan's multiple range test at a 5% significance level. The results showed that the application of EFB ash 1000-2000 kg/ha can increase sweet potato in Inceptisol by increasing tuber weight per 2.45 m2.

Abstract

Salah satu pemanfaatan limbah baglog jamur tiram yaitu dengan memanfaatkannya sebagai media dalam pengembangan cacing dan selanjutnya menghasilkan vermikompos. Produksi vermikompos ini dilakukan sebagai upaya pemanfaatan limbah yang dihasilkan dari usaha budidaya jamur tiram yang dilakukan oleh Fakultas Pertanian Universitas Riau. Tujuan pengabdian ini yaitu untuk produksi pupuk vermikompos berbasis limbah baglog jamur tiram untuk pengembangan salah satu usaha produk intelektual kampus (UPIK) di Fakultas Pertanian Universitas Riau. Vermikompos ini memiliki kelebihan karena diperkaya dengan jamur Trichoderma sp. sehingga diharapkan dapat meningkatkan nilai jual vermikompos dan manfaatnya bagi tanaman. Hasil kegiatan pengabdian yang telah dilakukan yaitu dibangunnya rak budidaya cacing sebanyak tiga tingkatan dengan total panjang semua rak lebih kurang 30 m dengan lebar 80 cm pada pada salah satu rumah kasa di Fakultas Pertanian berukuran 3 x 3 m. Hasil inkubasi cacing pada limbah baglog telah diproduksi sebanyak 50 kg vermikompos dengan harga jual Rp 7.500,-/kg. Total pendapatan penjualan vermikompos plus Trichoderma sp. sudah mencapai Rp 375.000,-. Usaha vermikmpos ini jika terus dilakukan diharapkan dapat menjadi revenue generating bagi Univeristas Riau dalam pengembangan usaha produk intelektual kampus dibidang pertanian.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui pengaruh interaksi antara komposisi media tanam dan frekuensi aplikasi pupuk hayati terhadap pertumbuhan dan produksi tanaman jahe merah umur lima bulan. Penelitian ini menggunakan Rancangan Acak Lengkap (RAL) faktorial yang terdiri atas dua faktor yaitu media tanam dan aplikasi pupuk hayati. Berdasarkan kedua faktor tersebut diperoleh 12 kombinasi perlakuan, setiap perlakuan dengan tiga kali ulangan, sehingga didapatkan 36 satuan percobaan, setiap satuan percobaan terdiri dari dua polibag, sehingga jumlah tanaman keseluruhan adalah 72 polibag. Parameter yang diamati meliputi umur tunas, tinggi tanaman, jumlah daun, panjang daun, lebar daun, jumlah anakan, serta berat basah dan kering rimpang. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa, interaksi komposisi media tanam dan frekuensi aplikasi pupuk hayati meningkatkan tinggi tanaman, jumlah daun, jumlah anakan, bobot basah rimpang, dan bobot kering rimpang jahe merah umur lima bulan setelah tanam. Kombinasi komposisi media tanam tanah Inceptisol + pupuk kandang + pasir (2:1:1) dan aplikasi pupuk hayati dengan pemberian tiga kali memberikan hasil terbaik bagi pertumbuhan dan produksi jahe merah. Abstract

Shallots (Allium ascalonicum L.) are an important horticultural commodity used as a cooking spice and medicinal raw material (Kuswardhani, 2016). Shallot production in Riau fluctuates with a decrease in 2022 and an increase in 2023, still far from community needs. Riau has variable fertility and is low in organic matter, so increasing land productivity is very important. One solution is the use of liquid organic fertilizer (POC) from coconut water waste, which can improve the physical, chemical and biological properties of the soil. The addition of inorganic fertilizer, especially potassium, is also needed to increase nutrient availability, which plays an important role in photosynthesis and tuber growth. This research aims to determine the effect of the interaction of POC coconut water and KCl fertilizer and to obtain the best treatment combination on the growth and production of shallots. The design used was a completely randomized design (CRD) with two factors: POC of coconut water (without, 200, 250 and 300 ml.l-1) and KCl dose (100, 150 and 200 kg.ha-1). There were 12 treatment combinations repeated three times, resulting in 36 experimental units. The results of the research showed that the combination of 300 ml.l-1 POC coconut water and 200 kg.ha-1 KCl fertilizer significantly increased plant height, number of leaves, harvest age, number of tubers per cluster, tuber diameter, fresh tuber weight per plant and storable tuber weight per plot.

Abstract

Kegiatan pengabdian kepada masyarakat ini bertujuan meningkatkan pengetahuan dan keterampilan petani di Desa Sungai Majo, Kecamatan Kubu, Kabupaten Rokan Hilir dalam mengenali serta menangani gejala defisiensi unsur hara pada tanaman kelapa sawit (Elaeis guineensis Jacq.). Metode pelaksanaan mencakup ceramah, diskusi interaktif, demonstrasi lapangan, dan evaluasi berbasis pre-test serta post-test. Materi penyuluhan difokuskan pada identifikasi gejala kekurangan unsur hara esensial seperti N, P, K, Mg, dan B serta penerapan prinsip pemupukan berimbang. Hasil kegiatan menunjukkan peningkatan pengetahuan petani sebesar 80% dalam mengenali gejala defisiensi antar unsur hara. Pendekatan partisipatif mendorong peningkatan literasi agronomi dan kesadaran terhadap pentingnya pengelolaan hara berkelanjutan serta pengendalian organisme pengganggu tanaman secara ramah lingkungan. Melalui kolaborasi antara akademisi dan masyarakat, kegiatan ini berhasil memperkuat kapasitas petani menuju sistem pertanian yang adaptif, efisien, dan berkelanjutan, sehingga petani mampu mengetahui gejala defisiensi unsur hara yang terdapat pada tanaman kelapa sawit di Desa Sungai Majo, Kecamatan Kubu, Kabupaten Rokan Hilir.
