Abstract

This study critically examines the role of Islamic education management in reducing the misalignment between graduate competencies and workforce demands in an Islamic vocational context. Conducted at Nahdlatul Ulama 1 Karanggeneng Vocational High School, Indonesia, the research investigates how managerial decisions shape graduate readiness amid the dual mission of character formation and skills preparation. Using a qualitative case study design, data were collected through in-depth interviews with six informants (school leaders, teachers, and alumni), participant observation, and analysis of national tracer study data. The findings demonstrate a dualistic pattern: management is highly effective in strengthening students’ spiritual discipline and character through structured religious and organizational programs, yet remains deficient in establishing industry partnerships and embedding digital competencies. This imbalance produces uneven employability outcomes across majors, most notably reflected in the 75.5% absorption rate in Computer Networking compared to substantially lower outcomes in other fields. These disparities indicate a persistent “holistic–utilitarian disconnect” between internal value-based practices and external labor market expectations. The study concludes that a strategic shift is necessary, emphasizing three priorities: professionalizing industry linkages across all majors, systematically integrating digital fluency within the curriculum, and implementing targeted interventions to enhance student confidence and career navigation skills. These actionable recommendations provide a management-oriented framework for Islamic vocational institutions to better harmonize spiritual formation with labor market relevance and strengthen their graduates’ competitiveness in an evolving workforce landscape.

Abstract

Tambakrejo Village, located on the southern coast of Blitar, is highly vulnerable to tsunamis. The research utilizes the Integrated Concept of Community Resilience (ICCR) framework, incorporating both internal factors, such as social, economic, and cultural capital, and external factors like disaster risk governance and disaster-based spatial planning, to assess the resilience of the community. Primary data was gathered through interviews, questionnaires, and field observations, complemented by secondary data from BPBD and BPS. The analysis, based on the ICCR framework, revealed that the community resilience in Tambakrejo is at a medium level (ICCR score ranging from 30 to 60) in Social, Economic, and Cultural Capital (SCE = 56.35) and Disaster-Based Spatial Planning (DBSP = 47.22), and a high level (score above 60) in Disaster Risk Governance (DRG = 63.49). Key findings include a lack of detailed disaster risk maps and limited mitigation infrastructure, which hinder effective disaster preparedness. However, the community shows strong potential in social cohesion and culture, with active participation in disaster risk reduction activities and a high level of awareness regarding tsunami threats. This research underscores the need for sustainable economic diversification, improved evacuation infrastructure, and better integration of spatial planning in disaster mitigation efforts including capacity-building training for local disaster response teams, community workshops on risk mapping and evacuation route planning, and the development of alternative livelihoods beyond the fisheries sector to further increase community resilience against tsunami threats.

Abstract

This study examines the internal and external factors influencing the development of Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) in Ambon City, with particular attention to business legality through the Business Identification Number (Nomor Induk Berusaha, NIB) and halal product certification. A qualitative, descriptive-analytical approach was employed, drawing on in-depth interviews, observations, and document analysis involving 20 informants comprising MSME actors and relevant stakeholders. The findings indicate that internal motivation, awareness of legal compliance, and commitment to halal principles constitute key strengths. In contrast, limited access to capital, low administrative literacy, and reliance on external facilitators emerge as significant internal constraints. Externally, free NIB registration and halal certification programs, mentoring initiatives, and improved access to financing and markets present substantial opportunities. However, these opportunities are tempered by challenges such as limited availability of halal raw materials and technical barriers associated with digital systems. A weighted SWOT analysis (Internal Factor Analysis Summary, IFAS and External Factor Analysis Summary, EFAS) identifies four strategic directions: (1) accelerating business legality and halal certification (S-O); (2) strengthening internal capacity through integrated mentoring (W-O); (3) mitigating external threats through internal discipline and regulatory adaptation (S-T); and (4) adopting defensive strategies based on business scale adjustment (W-T). The study concludes that integrating NIB registration with halal certification can enhance MSME competitiveness, expand market access, and support long-term sustainability in Ambon City.

Abstract

The digital era has transformed the way children interact with the world, including in the context of early childhood education (ECE). This study examines the principles of sound early childhood education in the digital era, including the role of technology, social interaction, and the roles of educators and parents in supporting children's learning. Emphasis is placed on the importance of balancing technology use with the development of children's socio-emotional, cognitive, and motor skills. This study uses a quantitative descriptive approach utilizing the SAMR (Substitution, Augmentation, Modification, Redefinition) framework to evaluate technology integration in ECE learning in Mojokerto. Data were collected through a Likert-scale questionnaire from 55 ECE teachers and analyzed to determine the extent to which the implementation of technology supports learning transformation. This study also employed SEM-PLS to examine the respondents' answers and the relationships between variables. More respondents were needed for the SEM-PLS analysis because the study included more than three constructs. For the SEM PLS analysis, the sample consisted of 158 ECE teachers. The results indicate that, although challenges remain in the initial stages of substituting and redesigning learning, most teachers demonstrate a high acceptance of the use of innovative technology that supports child engagement. This study provides practical and conceptual insights for educators and policymakers in designing learning strategies that align with digital development and children’s developmental needs.

Abstract

The purpose of this study is to analyze the extent to which digital training in Islamic boarding schools can improve students’ skills, expand job opportunities, and reduce unemployment in Malang City. This study uses a descriptive qualitative approach with a case study type. Primary data were obtained through in-depth interviews with students, Islamic boarding school administrators, and training instructors, as well as participant observation of digital training activities. Secondary data were obtained from Islamic boarding school documents, reports from the Malang City Manpower Office, and previous research related to unemployment and digital-based education. This study was conducted for four months, from February to May 2025. The research data were analyzed using several analytical methods, namely SWOT and Logic Model. The results show that job digitalization training in Islamic boarding schools can improve students’ technological literacy, particularly in digital marketing, basic graphic design, and online store management. Some students who participated in the training succeeded in developing digital-based micro-businesses or earning income through online freelancing. This study also found that infrastructure factors, instructor competence, and support from the local government, the business world, and alum networks greatly influenced the success of the training. Job digitalization training is one of the strategic and realistic solutions to address student unemployment in Malang City in the digital era.

Abstract

The increasing use of generative AI tools in education highlights the need to understand how they can be effectively integrated into university-level teaching and learning. Although these tools offer great promise, the absence of a transparent and ethical framework for their implementation poses real challenges in aligning them with curriculum goals. AI technologies, such as ChatGPT, have already begun to reshape the way students learn, particularly in higher education settings. This research examines how students utilize ChatGPT for academic purposes, including studying, research, and learning activities. Using a quantitative approach, the study identifies usage trends and finds that students generally feel confident using ChatGPT, with many reporting improved engagement and productivity. The lack of regulated ethical standards for ChatGPT use and lecturer interventions prohibiting irresponsible use also impact the widespread use of ChatGPT in higher education settings. This study used quantitative data analysis involving 415 students from four universities: KH Abdul Chalim University, Brawijaya University, Sriwijaya University, and Gadjah Mada University. This research examines the benefits, challenges, and ethical considerations of utilising AI-based software in academic settings, particularly in higher education.
