Abstract

Crime often occurs. The crime rate in an area will be different from that of other areas according to the characteristics of the area. The clustering carried out in this study is based on the number of reported crime rates. This study aims to cluster crime-prone areas in Yogyakarta City so that they can identify areas to seek to handle them more effectively. The method of this research is ex post facto, which is a quantitative exploratory descriptive. Data was collected through the crime documentation of Yogyakarta City, which has 15 regional units and with crime rates from 2016 to 2020. Clustering is carried out by cluster analysis of the average linkage hierarchy method because the variables are less than 100, so multi-storey clusters are more appropriately used and return to the goal, namely, to identify crime-prone areas. The research results on the crime rate in Yogyakarta City based on data in each reported police unit for five years, namely from 2016, 2017, 2018, 2019, and 2020, show that the unit area is divided into 3 clusters consisting of clusters 1, 2, and 3. Each cluster has members, namely Cluster 1, Yogyakarta City Resort. Cluster 2 consists of Gondomanan, Ngampilan, Gedongtengen, Jetis, Tegalrejo, Wirobrajan, Kraton, Mantrijeron, Mergangsan, Kotagede, Danurajan and Pakualam. Cluster 3 consists of Umbulharjo and Gondokusuman. So, cluster 1, according to the total number of 5 years, is indeed the most, but for clusters 2 and 3, it is different, so in this clustering, the underlying is the similarity between the variables owned. Crime in the city is often encountered due to the heterogeneity of the community from various fields, so practical efforts must be made to deal with it.

Abstract

Big data such as Twitter data has been widely used in social science studies, but its use in deforestation studies is still rare in Indonesia. Therefore, the purpose of this research is to find out what information can be identified through Twitter social media data. The data used in this research is quantitative Twitter data. The geotagged Twitter data was also visualized in the form of maps to help the description analysis process, which is the main analysis in this study. The results of this study show that Twitter deforestation in Pujon Sub-district, Malang Regency has an impact on the surrounding vegetation and hydrological conditions. In the implementation of deforestation countermeasures, we argue that Twitter data can be used in all phases. Twitter data in deforestation countermeasures especially its influence on vegetation and hydrology conditions. Another weakness is that the information from the Twitter data is not certain whether it represents the same demographic characteristics as the conditions in the field and the level of validity of the information that cannot be accounted for yet.

Abstract

Digital technology development during the industrial revolution 4.0 era can be a way to promote tourism. Nowadays, the concept of e-tourism (electronic tourism) has become popular in Indonesia. E-tourism in itself is an IT-based system applied in tourism sector that provides various information digitally. This research aims to describe a communication strategy in marketing Yogyakarta's tourism potential through e-tourism. This research uses descriptive-qualitative approach with library research method. The Special Region of Yogyakarta (DIY) has a vast variety of tourist attraction, ranging from historical places to shopping districts. Those tourism potential have drawn many tourists, locals and foreigners alike. As an effort to raise tourism visit, the DIY Tourism Department has implemented website and mobile based applications. Such method to promote tourism digitally is a right choice since e-tourism provides easiness for tourists in accessing tourism information as well as making activity plan.

Abstract

This paper analyzes the relationship between vegetation, surface temperature (LST), and soil dampness and their influence on climate change. This research uses 2022 Landsat 8 data to investigate the complex interactions between the three variables. The research results show that NDVI has a moderate correlation in dry months with LST (r=0.4085) and a frail correlation in wet months (r=0.0288), while NDVI and SMI have a weak positive correlation (R=0.02). This research found that changes in soil moisture and vegetation cover can affect land surface temperatures, affecting climate. Understanding the relationship between vegetation cover, surface temperature, and soil moisture or soil dampness is critical to predicting and mitigating the impacts of climate change.

Abstract

Waste management has become a significant challenge due to the increasing volume of waste driven by rapid population growth. Banyudono District, a major contributor to waste in Boyolali Regency, faces considerable difficulties in managing this waste. This community service initiative applies the Community-Based Resource (CBR) approach to empower the local community in processing organic waste and livestock manure into biogas energy. Through the implementation of biogas machines, capacity-building training, and technology guidance, the community is actively involved in the process. As a result, Dukuh Village now operates a biogas production system, and the community has gained the necessary knowledge and skills to independently manage waste and livestock manure for biogas production. This project not only addresses waste management issues but also promotes sustainable energy solutions by leveraging local resources and fostering active community participation.

Abstract

Abstract: Indonesia, as a disaster-prone country, requires effective disaster mitigation efforts. Youth participation in disaster mitigation has increased significantly over the past few decades, marked by their involvement in various preparedness activities and policy advocacy. This study aims to identify, analyze, and summarize the contributions of youth in disaster mitigation, as well as explore the supporting factors and challenges they face, through a systematic literature review. The findings indicate that youth play an important role across several scales: individual scale, pre-disaster, during disaster, post-disaster, and community scale. The factors driving youth involvement include system support, individual capacity, as well as motivation and active participation. However, there are challenges that hinder youth engagement, such as limited resources, system weaknesses, and a lack of awareness and participation from the community. This study recommends developing community-based disaster mitigation and utilizing social media as a campaign tool. These findings underscore the importance of empowering youth to play an active role in disaster mitigation in a more structured and sustainable manner.
