Abstract

            Response of plant on agroinputs such as organic fertilizer is different, depending on cultivar. Nutrient composition of organic fertilizer is also varied from one to another. The cultivar of Kipas Putih and Anjasmara were studied. The growth and yield of soybean were significantly affected by cultivar and organic fertilizer,  composted from manure and green manure using EM-4.  The growth and yield of Kipas Putih were significantly better than those of Anjasmara.  Fertilization with 12.5 ton/ha of organic matter also increased growth and yield of soybean.

Abstract

Shade is one of the obstacles in the cultivation of soybean crops in intercropping systems. This study was aimed at determining the change in the characters of agronomic and morpho-physiological leaves of soybean plants due to shade. The experiment was conducted at the Experimental Farm of Agriculture Faculty, Teuku Umar University Meulaboh in West Aceh, from August to November 2013. The experiment was arranged in a split plot design with three replications, where subplot (varieties: Anjasmoro, Kipas Merah Bireun, Grobogan, Burangrang, Sinabung, Kaba) was nested in the main plot (shade: without shade, 25% and 50% shade). The results showed that the shade and varieties exerted high significant effects on changes in agronomic characters and morpho-physiological leaf variables, except 100-seed weight and ratio of chlorophyll a/b which were not affected by shade and the amount of chlorophyll b and the ratio of chlorophyll a/b not affected by varieties. Interactions between shade and varieties were highly significant on changes in agronomic characters, except variables 100-seed weight.

Abstract

A field experiment was conducted to determine the growth responses of teak stump to NPK fertilizer that contains S nutrient. The stumps of teak were treated with Phoska fertilizer: 0, 5, 10, 15 g/plant and the fertilizer dosages were applied at 0, 5, 10, and 15 days after planting. The results of the study showed that stem diameter, stem height, and seedling height of the teak were significantly affected by the dosages and application times of Phoska fertilizer at 1, 2, 3, and 4 months after planting. The leaf numbers, leaf length, and leaf width responded significantly to Phoska fertilizer. This study found a significant interaction between the dosages and application times of Phoska fertilizer on seedling height and leaf length at one month old after planting; on stem height, seedling height, and leaf numbers at three month old; on stem diameter, stem height, seedling height, and leaf numbers at four month old after planting. The study revealed that the application of 10 g/plant Phoska applied at a planting day was the best treatment to enhance the growth of teak stump.
