Abstract

Garbage is the most common thing that can be found in crowded places, such as beaches. The beach as a tourist attraction also contributes to the increasing amount of waste. Scattered garbage will affect the beauty, bota and human health. Changes in environmentally conscious attitudes can be done by providing education, outreach and direct examples. One way to make this happen is through the tridharma of community service from lecturers. The purpose of this activity is to provide education to the target audience about coastal pollution. The methods used in this education are lectures and discussions. The results of the service prove that there has been a change in the paradigm of partners before and after providing education. Public service target audiences no longer think that maintaining cleanliness is not their responsibility but a shared responsibility. The survey results after one month from the start of the service show that the beach tends to be cleaner than all. This means that service activities have added experience and an increase in the knowledge of participants/partners

Abstract

The purpose of this study is to analyze the economic potential and feasibility of goldfish farming in Patoko Village, Luwu Regency. The type of research is descriptive, while the variables of this research are the economic potential and the feasibility of goldfish farming on former paddy land. Data collection was carried out by simple random sampling through observation and interviews. The results of the study indicate that the business of cultivating carp in former rice planting fields has economic potential because it is profitable and can finance the operational needs of the business. This cultivation business is also considered feasible to be restarted based on the analysis results of OP, BCR, PP, BEP production and value, as well as the ROI value.

Abstract

Olahan pangan tradisional adalah Olahan pangan tradisional merupakan kuliner khas dari suatu suku atau disebut juga etnofood, yang dibuat dengan memanfaatkan sumber daya alam yang ada disekitarnya. Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk mengkaji etnobiologi olahan pangan tradisional berbasis kearifan lokal pada masyarakat Wotu serta menganalisis peluang wirausaha dari olahan pangan tradisional tersebut. Metode yang digunakan dalam penelitian untuk inventarisis jenis olahan pangan tradisional yaitu dengan purpose sampling menggunakan observasi dan wawancara, sedangkan analisa peluang wirausaha dilakukan dengan melihat potensi ekonominya menggunakan rumus penerimaan dan rumus pendapatan. Berdasarkan hasil penelitian, maka dapat disimpulkan bahwa olahan pangan tradisional berbasis kearifan lokal yang ditemukan di Wotu yaitu pocco, parede ikan, lawa, kapurung, dange, ongol-ongol dan barobbo. Hasil analisis potensi ekonomi pada olahan pangan tradisional di Wotu menunjukkan bahwa total penerimaan semua produk tersebut lebih besar daripada biaya yang dikeluarkan dalam proses pembuatannya. Hal tersebut menunjukkan bahwa olahan pangan tradisonal dapat mendatangkan keuntungan sehingga dikatakan memiliki peluang wirausaha.

Abstract

One of the economic values of plants is that they can be used as medicine. Indonesian people since ancient times have used plants as traditional medicine. This knowledge has been passed down from generation to generation and there are differences between regions. This is due to differences in customs and experiences of people who use traditional medicine. Based on this, it is necessary to carry out an inventory or record of plants that act as medicines so that they can be properly documented. The purpose of this study was to obtain data on the types of plants used as traditional medicine by the local community. This research was conducted in West Pussui Village, Luwo District, Kab. Polewali Mandar, West Sulawesi. The method used is explorative which is descriptive qualitative in nature. The data collection technique used Participatory Rural Appraisal (PRA), through in-depth interviews covering the types of plants that can be used as medicine, their uses and how to mix the plants used. In addition to interviews, direct observation was also carried out to see the conditions at the research location. The technique of selecting respondents was done by snowball sampling. Data from interviews and observations were then presented in the form of pictures and tables and then analyzed using descriptive qualitative. The results showed that the people of the Mandar tribe used kirinyuh, guava, soursop, jatropha banana, cocoa duck, papaya, black turmeric, moringa, coconut, secang wood, bitter melon, meniran, lime, purslane and breadfruit as traditional medicine to treat various kinds of diseases. The part of the plant that is most widely used to treat diseases is the leaf with a percentage of 50%.

Abstract

Analysis of economic potential and business feasibility is carried out so that aquaculture business actors can avoid the risk of loss, one of which is tilapia (Oreochromis Niloticus) cultivation. One of the areas that also does this cultivation is Kampung Laut, Jeruju Besar Village. The research objective was to analyze the economic potential and feasibility of tilapia cultivation in Kampung Laut. The research method is descriptive quantitative. The research variables are economic potential and business feasibility. Data collection was carried out randomly through observation and interviews with informants. Data analysis of economic potential is carried out through acceptance and income analysis, while business feasibility were analyzed through operating profit (OP), benefit cost ratio (BCR), payback period (PP), profitability, breakeven point (BEP), return on investment (ROI) formulas. The results of the study show that the tilapia farming business in Kampung Laut has economic potential because it can provide a profit of Rp. 17,820,000 every harvest period. In addition, the tilapia farming business in the research location is very feasible to restart based on the results of analysis of PCR, OP, PP, total BEP and price BEP. Key words:   Business Feasibility, Cultivation, Economic Potential, Kampung Laut, Tilapia

Abstract

Service activities are part of the tridharma lecturer. This activity is expected to increase knowledge and overcome problems faced by partners. Optimizing the benefits of natural resources is an important thing to do. This is intended so that these natural resources have high economic value. One of the abundant local natural resources at the service location is kepok bananas so diversification of processed kepok is deemed necessary. In addition, the observations also revealed that partners were only able to make fruit pie, which only lasted a maximum of three days, so the implementation team assumed that brownie pie making was something that could be taught to partners. The purpose of this service activity is to provide partner knowledge and skills through processing plantain marble cakes so they don't go sour and making brownie pies. The method used is training with the Asset-Based Community Development or ABCD approach by utilizing local natural resources. Partners in this activity were PKK Puundoho Village women. Changes in partner knowledge are measured through evaluation results before and after community service activities. The results of the dedication show that there has been an increase in partner knowledge and skills. In addition, activities have also provided new experiences for partners.

Abstract

Mempelajari mikrobiologi membutuhkan integrasi antara konsep dan skill. Salah satu cara menerapkan hal tersebut yaitu melalui pembelajaran berbasis riset. Riset dapat dilakukan di laboratorium maupun diluar laboratorium, yaitu dengan melakukan mini riset atau riset sederhana. Salah satu lingkungan yang dapat menjadi sumber belajar untuk penerapan mini riset yaitu pasar. Pasar merupakan tempat jual beli, salah satunya adalah produk pangan yang dibuat dengan bantuan mikroba. Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk menginventarisir jenis-jenis pangan yang menggunakan agen mikroba dalam proses pengolahannya yang nantinya dapat digunakan sebagai sumber belajar. Metode yang digunakan yaitu melalui survei dan observasi. Data yang diperoleh selanjutnya dianalisis secara deskriptif. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa jenis pangan yang menggunakan mikroba dalam proses pembuatannya dan ditemukan dilokasi penelitian adalah pangan fermentasi lokal dan non lokal. Olahan pangan yang sifatnya lokal yaitu terasi, tempe, acar dan tape, sedangkan yang non lokal yaitu kecap, roti, mentega, keju, nata de coco dan yaqult. Kesimpulan hasil penelitian menemukan pangan yang melibatkan mikroba dalam proses pembuatannya melalui fermentasi sehingga dapat digunakan sebagai sumber belajar pada mata kuliah Mikrobiologi materi peranan mikroba

Abstract

Utilization of natural resources around is one way to increase the economic value of these natural resources. Maximum utilization of natural resources can also improve the local community's economy. Providing education is one way to increase the knowledge and skills of the community. Due to the need for cooking oil and the desire to improve the standard of living of partners, the PKM team was conducted training with the theme of making VCO and DHT syrup for PKK mothers in Pallantikang Village, Gowa. This activity aims to improve the skills of housewives in Pallantikang Village through education on making DHT and VCO syrup as well as opportunities for businesses so as to increase family income. The method used in this activity is lecture and practice. This activity begins with giving a pretest to measure partners' knowledge. At the end of the activity, a posttest was carried out to measure the increase in partners' knowledge after being given training. The results of the dedication show that there has been an increase in the participants' knowledge. This is shown from the results of the pretest and posttest given. In addition, participants have gained new experience, so that later they can practice it to increase family income.

Abstract

Background: Enterocin in Enterococcus is coded by enterocin encoding genes namely A, B, P and L50A / B. The purpose of this study was to identify enterocin gene encoding enterococcus faecalis K2B1 probiotic candidate from Belang Toraja buffalo milk and antimicrobial activity to S. typhi. Methods: identification of enterocin gene encoding using ent A, B, P and L50A / B, partial purification using ammonium sulfate on 80 % concentration and antimicrobial activity against to Salmonella typhi using disk diffusion method. The results of PCR amplification are then sequenced and BLASTX on NCBI. Result: Antimicrobial activity of Precipitate and crude against S. typhi are 193 and 201 respectively. Identification gene encoding enterocin shows that Ent A, B and P cannot be amplified and only EntL50A / B can be amplified with a sequence size of 86 bp. The sequence of enterocin encoding genes in E. faecalis K2B1 has 94% similarity with hypothetical protein EB34_00789 E. faecalis on GenBank with accession number RBR60004.1 Conclusion: EntL50A / B E. faecalis K2B1 has a size of 86 bp and is 94% identical to the hypothetical protein EB34_00789 and Enterocin can be used as antimicrobial or bio preservative.
