Abstract

Exploration is a mini form of research. The results of mini research can be used as teaching material. Exploratory activities will make a person more active and thorough. The aim of this research is to inventory the plants in the forest of Pontianak Digulis Park and conduct a literature study on the benefits of the plants found. Sampling was carried out observationally, and the type of research was descriptive. This research consists of two stages. The first stage of research includes identification using books of key determinations and benefits of plants found using literature studies. The second stage of research is analyzing its potential as teaching material or learning resource in the Megabiodiversity course. The research data was then documented and analyzed qualitatively. The results of the research found that there were 19 types of plants at the research location, namely durian, cengkodok, prawn pinch, banyan tree, orchid, bird's nest fern, mahogany, Bintangor, mangosteen, fern, banana tree, jampang, white teak, kekopian, hanjuang, red shoots, taro , fruit loh and laban. This type of plant has been widely studied and has a role. The role of the plants used indicates that the results of this research can be used as a learning resource in the Tropical Megabiodiversity course.

Abstract

Tempoyak is a traditional food resulting from spontaneous fermentation of durian fruit. This fermentation involves the help of LAB which is present naturally. Tempoyak is often found in traditional markets and is a type of ready-to-eat food. The aim of this research is to analyze the feasibility of consuming Tempoyak from several traditional markets in Pontianak based on its nutritional (proximate), antioxidant and microbiological content. Tempoyak sampling was carried out in several traditional markets in Pontianak. The methods used to analyze nutrients are the Kjehdal method, gravimetry and solvent extraction, antioxidants using DPPH, while analyzing microbial pollutants using Standard Plate Count, MPN and qualitative using a specific microbial growth medium by looking at the color indicators formed. The results of the analysis show that the tempoyak circulating in the Pontianak Traditional Market complies with SNI and the number of Coliforms and E. coli in the samples exceeds SNI, the samples do not contain S. aureus and Salmonella contaminants. The results of the analysis show that the tempoyak circulating in the Pontianak Traditional Market complies with SNI based on its nutritional and antioxidant content, and the number of Coliforms and E. coli in the samples exceeds the SNI so it is not suitable for consumption, even though the samples do not contain S. aureus and Salmonella contaminants

Abstract

Antibiotic resistance is a global problem in the health sector. The level of antibiotic resistance that occurs can be caused by several influencing factors, including 6 isolates of rhizosphere bacteria that were successfully isolated from the rhizosphere of the Avicenia marina plant. The purpose of this study was to isolate and determine the best minimum inhibitory concentration of rhizosphere bacteria of the A. marina plant and its effectiveness in inhibiting pathogenic bacteria S. aureus. This study is a quantitative research method using the isolation and characterization of rhizosphere bacteria, antagonistic test of rhizosphere bacteria and test of the results of the extraction of filtrate of rhizosphere bacteria culture of A. marina plants. The results of this study were (1) five of the isolates of bacteria that were successfully isolated were included in the Bacilus type and 1 isolate of bacteria included in the Cocobasil type; (2) there were 3 of the 6 isolates that could inhibit the growth of pathogenic bacteria S. aureus with an inhibition range of 10.04-4.42 mm; (3) Rhizosphere bacterial isolate (TN 1) is an isolate with the best inhibition diameter and is categorized as strong, namely 10.04 mm; (4) ethyl acetate extract of Rhizosphere bacterial isolate culture filtrate (TN 1), has a minimum inhibitory concentration of 0.50% against pathogenic bacteria S.aureus with an inhibition diameter of 7.18 mm which is better when compared to the positive control using chloramphenicol.

Abstract

Cassava is a type of secondary crop which contains more complex carbohydrates than rice, making it safer and healthier. However, cassava tubers are not long-lasting and break down more quickly, so handling is needed to maximize the benefits while increasing the economic value of cassava. One way is by processing songkong into MOCAF flour. The aim of this PKM is to increase knowledge, understanding and skills for partners and at the same time as an effort to improve the partners' economy through optimizing the function of cassava into flour. The partners in this activity are women from the transmigrant farmer group in Rasau Jaya Village, totaling 30 people. The PKM method used is community empowerment through education and the ABCD method. The results of observations and tests showed that this activity was proven to increase participants' knowledge and enthusiasm. This is because education is provided in an interesting way and looks more real. This PKM activity was also successful because of positive support from partners

Abstract

Salah satu sumber daya lokal yang memiliki potensi untuk dikembangkan yaitu singkong. Namun singkong cenderung cepat mengalami pembusukan. Selain itu, konsumsi singkong sebagai bahan pangan pokok cenderung lebih rendah daripada beras, sehingga singkong kerapkali menumpuk dan membusuk hingga merugikan petani. Singkong dapat diubah menjadi tepung MOCAF, sehingga dapat mensubstitusi penggunaan terigu. Mitra pada kegiatan ini yaitu wanita kelompok tani transmigrant. Pemilihan Lokasi dikarenakan kelompok tersebut merupakan petani singkong, namun belum memiliki pengetahuan dan keterampilan mengenai diversifikasi olahan tepung MOCAF. Tujuan kegiatan yaitu untuk memberikan pengetahuan dan keterampilan mitra mengenai olahan pangan berbahan tepung singkong atau MOCAF. Metode yang digunakan dalam PkM ini yaitu edukasi dan metode Asset Based Community Development (ABCD). Edukasi berupa potensi MOCAF sebagai pengganti tepung dan lebih sehat, edukasi digital marketing dan praktek diversifikasi olahan MOCAF yaitu bolu pisang MOCAF dan brownies MOCAF. Hasil PkM menunjukkan bahwa setelah edukasi, pengetahuan dan keterampilan mitra menjadi lebih meningkat. Berdasarkan kegiatan yang telah dilakukan, maka dapat disimpulkan bahwa PkM ini telah dapat meningkatkan pengetahuan masyarakat, sekaligus sebagai sebuah solusi dalam menangani ketergantungan masyarakat terhadap penggunaan tepung terigu. Pelatihan ini juga menjadi inovasi yang efektif guna meningkatkan jenis olahan pangan yang bernilai ekonomi sehingga dapat meningkatkan perekonomian masyarakat. Disarankan agar kegiatan ini dapat mengawal mitra hingga mitra mampu memasarkan produk MOCAF secara online.

Abstract

West Kalimantan, renowned for its abundant biological natural resources, often utilizes them in local food production through fermentation, representing indigenous knowledge passed down through generations. The involvement of microbes in changing a substrate to produce certain products is related to the use of microbes in life, and is one of the themes in the Microbiology course. The aim of this research is to inventory the types of traditional foods typical of West Kalimantan, and their relation to learning Microbiology. Data collection techniques to obtain facts are carried out through observation, interviews and documentation with sources. Data analysis was carried out in a qualitative descriptive manner. The research results showed that the types of traditional food found at the research location were cincalok, wet shrimp paste, salted mustard greens, tempoyak, jasam, and mandai. Based on the research results, it was concluded that there are six traditional food products which constitute local wisdom of ethnic groups in Pontianak. The process of making these food products utilizes bacteria that are naturally present, which means it involves the concept of microbiology, which indicates that it can be used as a learning resource for microbiology courses in the form of modules.

Abstract

Kegiatan pengabdian kepada masyarakat ini dilaksanakan untuk menumbuhkan pengetahuan dan pemahaman ibu-ibu dalam memanfaatkan benda-benda yang tidak terpakai dapat diolah menjadi produk yang memiliki nilai tambah dan sangat bermanfaat yang diistilahkan dengan Upcycle. Kegiatan pelatihan pembuatan pot dari kain bekas ini dilakukan untuk melatih masyarakat dapat memanfaatkan kain bekas yang dapat menjadi produk yang memiliki nilai seni yang tinggi. Kegiatan pelatihan dimulai dari tahapan menyiapkan bahan seperti handuk bekas, semen, ember bekas, kayu pengaduk. Tahapan selanjutnya melakukan eksperimen bersama mitra dimulai dari mencampur adonan semen dengan air lalu dicelupkan kain ke dalamnya, kemudian mengatur bentuk pot yang diletakkan di atas ember bekas sebagai cetakan. Langkah selanjutnya adalah proses pengeringan dan dilanjutkan dengan pengecatan. Kelompok sasaran yang ikut dalam kegiatan ini adalah ibu-ibu dan remaja putri yang gemar menanam bunga. Jumlah peserta yang hadir adalah 12 orang. Dari kegiatan pelatihan ini, menghasilkan 7 pot bunga yang dicat sedemikian rupa dengan bentuk beraneka ragam seperti lingkaran, model kursi, dan segi empat. Pelaksanan kegiatan ini dapat menumbuhkan jiwa enterpreneur bagi warga melalui kreativitas yang dimiiliki yang nantinya akan tumbuh peluang untuk memasarkan hasil kreasi mereka serta mengurangi pengeluaran untuk membeli pot bunga. Hasil akhir dari kegiatan ini berupa karya tulis yaitu laporan akhir dan publikasi artikel ilmiah

Abstract

Pemberian antibiotik untuk mengatasi infeksi mikroba telah menyebabkan terjadinya kasus resistensi. Oleh sebab itu, diperlukan suatu senyawa antimikroba yang dapat menghambat pertumbuhan patogen, namun bersifat lebih aman. Telah diperoleh isolat dari pangan fermentasi melayu yaitu Isolat DTP1. Tujuan penelitian ini yaitu untuk menguji aktivitas antimikroba isolat DTP1, aktivitas hemolisis dan identifikasi molekuler isolat tersebut. Metode yang digunakan yaitu eskperimental, yang diawali dengan isolasi mikroba dari sampel, uji antimikroba, uji hemolisis agar darah dan identifikasi molekuler. Data yang ditemukan selanjutnya disajikan dalam bentuk tabel dan gambar, lalu dianalis secara deskriptif. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa isolat DTP1 mampu menghambat pertumbuhan E.coli (10,06 mm) dan S.aureus (10,63 mm). Isolat DTP1 berdasarkan uji hemolisis darah bersifat non hemolitik atau bersifat aman. Hasil identifikasi molekuler menggunakan sekuens 16S rDNA ditemukan bahwa isolat ini memiliki panjang berkisar 1550 bp dan  99,1% similar dengan B.subtilis. Hasil penelitian dapat disimpulkan bahwa isolat DTP1 yang ditemukan pada penelitian ini yaitu Bacillus subtilis. Bakteri tersebut memiliki aktivitas antimikroba terhadap S. aureus dan E. coli dan bersifat gamma hemolitik atau non patogen.

Abstract

Inventarisasi tumbuhan  obat  tradisional  merupakan tahap  skrining awal untuk membantu menemukan tumbuhan yang potensial digunakan sebagai obat dimasa mendatang sekaligus sebagai upaya konservasi terhadap suatu jenis sumber daya alam. Salah satu suku yang masih menggunakan tumbuhan sebagai obat yaitu Suku Dayak di Mandor Kalimantan Barat. Akan tetapi, penelitian mengenai tumbuhan obat tradisional Suku Dayak yang ada di Desa Mandor Kecamatan Mandor Kalimantan Barat belum pernah diteliti dan dilaporkan. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menginventarisi jenis dan bagian tumbuhan yang paling banyak digunakan sebagai obat tradisional oleh Suku Dayak Mandor. Pengumpulan data dilakukan menggunakan wawancara dan observasi pada responden. Data yang diperoleh selanjutnya dianalisis secara deskriptif kualitatif. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa terdapat 26 jenis tumbuhan obat tradisional yang digunakan oleh Suku Dayak di lokasi penelitian, antara lain bajakah, bawang dayak, sirih merah, pinang merah, serai wangi, sambung nyawa, jahe merah, jeringau merah, kencur, kelor, kumis kucing, ciplukan, meniran, ketepeng, jambu biji, tanaman jarak, miyana, pepaya, sirsak, mengkudu, krokot, kunyit, bandotan, boborongan, pegagan, dan tembelekan. Bagian tanaman yang paling banyak digunakan yaitu daun. Pengetahuan penggunaan tumbuhan obat oleh Suku Dayak telah banyak yang sesuai dengan etik atau data sains berdasarkan kajian literatur penelitian fitofarmaka.

Abstract

Taro flour is a form of diversification of taro tubers, and can be used as an alternative to replace the use of wheat flour. The purpose of this study was to determine the proximate characteristics of taro flour that has been processed simply as a basis for information for handling processed taro flour products. This study was conducted at the Fisheries Cultivation Laboratory of Pontianak State Polytechnic. The method used was the simple production of taro flour. The resulting flour was then analyzed for its proximate content. Determination of protein content was carried out using the kjeldahl method, determination of ash and water content was carried out using the thermogravimetric method, determination of fat content using a Soxhlet apparatus, and determination of carbohydrate content using the by difference method. The results of the study showed that the ash content in taro tubers was 2.57%, water content 11.90%, fat 1.95%, carbohydrate 77.58%, and protein 4.5%. Based on the research results, it was concluded that the high carbohydrate content indicates that this flour can be used as a substitute for wheat flour, the low water content indicates that processed products made from this flour can last a long time, the lowfat content indicates that processed products made from this flour are very suitable for a low-fat diet.
