Abstract

This study examines the influence of financial ratios, good corporate governance (GCG), and digital advancement on financial distress in Indonesia's banking sector, with inflation as a moderating variable.  This research employs a quantitative methodology and panel-data regression analysis to examine 185 observations from 37 active banks over 2020-2024.  The analytical methods include descriptive statistics and panel-data regression with a fixed-effects model.  The model selection is based on Chow and Hausman tests, which indicate that the fixed-effect model is more appropriate for the data under analysis.  The analysis indicates a strong fit of the regression model, evidenced by an R-squared of 86.85% and statistically significant findings at the 1% level.  The primary findings indicate that the Loan to Deposit Ratio (LDR) positively affects financial stability, whereas the operational cost-to-operational income ratio (BOPO) negatively affects financial stability.  Inflation further intensifies the adverse impacts of non-performing loans (NPL) on financial distress.  This study underscores the significance of operational efficiency and meticulous risk management in sustaining financial stability in the digital age.  The findings underscore the imperative of operational efficiency, judicious credit risk management, and responsiveness to macroeconomic conditions to maintain financial stability in the banking sector in the digital era.  This study offers critical insights for banking sector stakeholders to understand the determinants of financial distress and implement strategic measures to improve bank financial stability amid evolving economic circumstances.

Abstract

Abstract

A metaphor is a figure of speech or figurative language used to make an indirect comparison between two different things. Metaphors can be found in various media, including song lyrics. This research aims to determine the types of metaphors and their meanings in Taylor Swift's album "The Tortured Poets Department: The Anthology." A qualitative descriptive method with data tabulation as the main instrument was employed. The research steps included downloading the song lyrics, listing all the lyrics in sequence, reading them thoroughly, and then identifying and classifying the metaphors using codes before inserting the metaphors into the instruments. The research object contained all the songs on Taylor Swift's latest album, "The Tortured Poets Department: The Anthology." This study utilized the theory of Lakoff and Johnson (2003), which categorizes metaphors into three types: structural metaphors, orientational metaphors, and ontological metaphors. The research found 135 data on structural metaphors, 65 data on orientational metaphors, and 280 data on ontological metaphors. The research concluded that ontological metaphors were the most frequently found, while orientational metaphors were the least frequently found.    Keywords: Metaphor, Structural Metaphor, Orientational Metaphor, Ontological Metaphor, Song Lyrics, Taylor Swift

Abstract

This study examines the implementation of discipline focused character education in elementary schools and the challenges encountered in its application amid rapid technological and social changes. The purpose of this research is to analyze the forms of discipline, the influencing factors, the obstacles faced by schools, teachers, and students, and to identify effective strategies for strengthening discipline as a fundamental character value. Using a qualitative approach through a systematic literature review, the study analyzes journal articles, books, policy documents, and research reports published within the last ten years. Data were collected through source mapping, thematic categorization, and synthesis to obtain a comprehensive understanding of discipline development in elementary education. The findings indicate that student discipline remains inconsistent, as evidenced by habitual lateness, incomplete assignments, inattentiveness, and failure to follow school rules. These issues arise due to unclear regulations, inconsistent enforcement, weak teacher role modeling, limited parental involvement, and negative peer or media influence. The study explains that such challenges persist because students have not fully internalized discipline and because schools often focus on punitive measures rather than constructive character-building approaches. Therefore, the success of discipline implementation depends on collaborative support between schools, teachers, parents, and the broader community. The study concludes that solutions such as co-constructing classroom rules, habit-building routines, positive teacher modeling, improved classroom management, home school collaboration, and balanced reward and consequence systems significantly enhance students disciplinary behavior. These strategies have a positive impact on creating conducive learning environments, strengthening students responsibility, self-control, and moral awareness, and promoting long-term character development. Ultimately, discipline-centered character education shapes students into competent, ethical, and responsible individuals who are prepared to face future challenges.
