Abstract

Kegiatan Pengabdian kepada Masyarakat telah dilaksanakan di Desa Kelapa Lima. Kegiatan ini bertujuan untuk memberikan informasi dan pengetahuan kepada masyarakat tentang bahaya penyakit demam berdarah dengue dan upaya pencegahannya melalui pemanfaatan potensi tanaman pengusir nyamuk. Tanaman pengusir nyamuk dapat ditemukan di pekarangan rumah sehingga masyarakat dapat menyediakan lahan di pekarangan rumahnya untuk menanam tanaman yang berpotensi sebagai pengusir nyamuk. Metode yang digunakan dalam kegiatan pengabdian ini berupa penyuluhan, pelatihan, dan pembudidayaan tanaman sebagai agen anti nyamuk penyebab penyakit demam berdarah dengue. Kesimpulan yang diperoleh adalah peningkatan pengetahuan pemahaman masyarakat tentang Demam Berdarah Dengue, peningkatan pemahaman masyarakat tentang bioekologi vektor penyebab demam berdarah dengue, pemanfaatan tumbuhan yang berpotensi sebagai pengusir nyamuk.

Abstract

Lymphatic filariasis is a mosquito-borne disease that poses a serious public health concern. The disease has spread to 28 Indonesian provinces, with NTT province being one of the 10 provinces with the highest incidence. Aside from being a major supporter of the annual mass drug administration program, the mosquito control initiative is also critical to the disease's eradication. However, today's mosquito control approaches depend primarily on synthetic moieties, which, unfortunately, have resulted in environmental problems and also resistance in important mosquito species. Consequently, developing alternative mosquito control strategies based on herbal components that are environmentally friendly, safe, and long-lasting is necessary. This one-health program aims to educate and raise public awareness of the importance of mosquito control and to inspire the community to utilize local plants as alternative mosquito repellents. This program is targeted high school students from the Timor Tengah Selatan regency. This regency is one of the NTT regencies with the highest risk of lymphatic filariasis. The approach method employed in this program was a series of presentations, discussions, and a demonstration of lymphatic filariasis and the selection of local plants that can be used as herbal repellents. Based on discussions with the students, it was discovered that after engaging in this activity, the participants had learned and recognized the dual function of various indigenous plants in their area as effective and cost-effective mosquito repellents. Furthermore, the students became more excited to learn and develop knowledge about the function of other local plants as efficient mosquito repellents.

Abstract

Penerapan produksi pakan ternak fermentasi berpotensi untuk dilakukan di Desa Nggorang, Kecamatan Komodo, Kabupaten Manggarai Barat. Desa Nggorang sebenarnya memiliki potensi peternakan yang dapat menjadi sumber pendapatan utama untuk meningkatkan perekonomian masyarakat, namun permasalahannya masyarakat di Desa Nggorang belum mengetahui pemanfaatan silase untuk pakan ternak. Pakan silase dapat menjadi pilihan pakan ternak yang dapat dibuat sendiri oleh peternak sehingga lebih terjangkau oleh peternak. Oleh karena itu, kegiatan ini bertujuan untuk memberikan bantuan berupa alih teknologi pembuatan silase kepada para petani dan peternak di Desa Nggorang. Kegiatan pendampingan pembuatan silase dilakukan mulai bulan April hingga Oktober 2021. Metode pendekatan dalam mencapai tujuan pengabdian adalah dengan memberikan edukasi tentang teknik produksi silase yang berasal dari sumber daya lokal. Ini juga merupakan aplikasi dari hasil penelitian yang telah dilakukan oleh Fakultas Kedokteran Hewan Universitas Nusa Cendana. Penyampaian kegiatan edukasi dan pendampingan dilakukan secara online menggunakan platform aplikasi Zoom. Hasil pengabdian menunjukkan adanya daya serap petani yang maksimal dalam menerapkan penerapan teknologi pengolahan pakan silase, meningkatkan keterampilan petani dalam membuat silase dengan memanfaatkan sumber daya yang tersedia dalam jumlah banyak, dan meningkatkan pemahaman petani dalam memanfaatkan diversifikasi silase.

Abstract

Layanan video conference seperti Zoom dan google meet merupakan salah satu program meeting online yang paling banyak digunakan di era pandemi Covid-19 saat ini, untuk melaksanakan pekerjaan dari rumah (WFH). Begitu juga dengan yang coba di lakukan dalam menjangkau kegiatan pelatihan jarak jauh di Desa Nggorang Manggarai Barat ini, di tengah pandemi covid 19, panitia menggunakan media penghubung jarak jauh salah satunya dengan aplikasi zoom dan google meet. Namun masyarakat di desa Ngorrang yang sebagian besar penduduknya bekerja sebagai petani dan peternak belum memiliki kemampuan dalam menggunakan aplikasi video conference seperti Zoom meeting dan Google meet. Dengan pelatihan ini peserta dan narasumber diharapkan mampu menerapkannya sehingga dapat dijadikan salah satu sarana pendukung dalam memberikaan pelatihan,  membagikan pengetahuan, diskusi dan praktek langsung bagi Kelompok Tani-Ternak Desa Nggorang Manggarai Barat. Metode dalam training ini menggunakan tiga tahap yaitu Preparation stage Training stage, Evaluation stage. Sementara participant dari pengabdian ini terdiri dari petani dan peternak di Desa Ngorang yang berjumlah sekitar 40 orang. Hasil dari kegiatan pengabdian ini peserta pelatihan mampu menggunakan aplikasi zoom meeting dan Google meet dan bisa diaplikasikan dalam pelatihan-pelatihan berikutnya.

Abstract

Nusa Tenggara Timur (NTT) menjadi provinsi dengan persentase balita stunting tertinggi nasional. Faktor yang berpengaruh terhadap kejadian stunting yaitu adanya praktik kebersihan dan sanitasi lingkungan, tingkat kecukupan protein dan tingkat pengetahuan gizi ibu. Potensi alam di wilayah Nusa Tenggara Timur sangat potensial untuk produksi ikan dan tanaman kelor yang dapat memenuhi kebutuhan protein masyarakat di wilayah Nusa Tenggara Timur. Oleh karena itu, perlu dilakukan pelatihan pengolahan pangan sumber protein pada kelompok pemberdayaan perempuan. Kegiatan ini terdiri dari beberapa tahapan seperti tahap penyuluhan, tahap praktik, tahap percontohan, dan tahap monitoring. Metodenya adalah pendidikan, pelatihan, pendampingan, dan monitoring, serta evaluasi. Pelatihan ini memberikan manfaat bagi kelompok pemberdayaan perempuan Fatumonas, dan meningkatkan kemampuan dan keterampilan perempuan dalam memanfaatkan potensi pangan local sumber protein untuk diolah secara berkelanjutan menjadi sumber proien harian yang dapat memenuhi kebutuhan gizi keluarga. Disarankan kegiatan ini dilanjutkan untuk pengemasan dan pelabelan.

Abstract

This community service activity aimed to empower families of GMIT Jemaat Marthomas Kupang through the cultivation of Kampung Unggul Balitbangtan (KUB) chickens as an effort to improve family nutrition and economic resilience. The activity was carried out on Sunday, April 13, 2025, using the Asset-Based Community Development (ABCD) approach. The primary targets of this program were housewives within the congregation, who were recognized as key agents in managing family nutrition and household finances. Through the ABCD approach, the local assets and potential of the congregation were identified and optimized to build independence in KUB chicken farming. The activities included education on poultry management, distribution of KUB chicks, and technical mentoring. The outcomes showed increased knowledge and skills among the housewives in raising KUB chickens, along with a growing awareness of the importance of animal protein in fulfilling family nutritional needs. This program is expected to be sustainable and to have a positive impact on improving the overall quality of life of the congregation.

Abstract

Lactic acid bacteria are facultative anaerobic bacteria that can live in the digestive tract of animals and humans. Lactic acid bacteria have been used as a culture of fermentation, food preservatives, and food probiotics because it has antimicrobial activity and food spoilage. Antimicrobial compounds produced by lactic acid bacteria include the production of lactic acid and pH reduction, the production of acetic acid, diacetyl, hydrogen peroxide, carbon dioxide, and bacteriocin. The purpose of this literature study was to find out the metabolite compounds produced in the fermentation process of lactic acid bacteria and analyze the use of metabolite compounds produced from lactic acid bacteria. This literature study was obtained from searching and collecting some various sources using the Mendeley and Google Scholar applications. 67 libraries were obtained and after being analyzed and evaluated, there were some fermented lactic acid metabolite bacteria obtained including lactic acid, acetic acid, and propionic acid, hydrogen peroxide, carbon dioxide, diacetyl, and bacteriocin. Whereas the use of metabolite compounds produced from lactic acid bacteria can be used as metabolic compounds that are antimicrobial, immunomodulatory, and in optimizing nutrient absorption.

Abstract

The purpose of this study is to know the dominant type, with characteristics and benefits of lactic acid bacteria that are isolated from horse milk, goat milk and cow's milk. The method used is a qualitative descriptive method with a literature study approach. Based on the results of studies obtained lactic acid bacteria consist of several genera, namely Lactobacillus, Streptococcus, Leuconostoc, Enterococcus, Lactococcus, Tetragenococcus and Pediococcus. Lactobacillus is the dominant species in the milk of horses and goat's milk, whereas in cow's milk the dominant species is Lactobacillus and Pediococcus. Based on nature and morphology, lactic acid bacteria is a group of positive, coccus or rod-shaped bacteria, non-spore forming bacteria, and able to ferment glucose to produce lactic acid. Lactic acid bacteria are anaerobic, not motil, negative catalyst, positive oxidase, growth optimium temperature ± 40 °C and pH 4-5. Lactic acid bacteria can provide a positive effect for health by manging intestinal mokroflora, reducing pathogenic bacteria and stimulating immune responses to lower the risk of disease.

Abstract

Lactoferrin is a type of protein found in many fluid secretions such as saliva, tears, blood, neutrophil and milk. Subcutaneus or oral administration of lactoferrin can inhibit the growth of tumor implants and have a preventive effect on metastases. According to lactoferrin, viruses carried by mosquitoes, such as the Japanese encephalitis, can be inhibited. This virus causes Japanese encephalitis which is zoonotic and transmitted by the bite of the Culex tritaeniorhynchus as the main vector. Therefore, it is interesting to conduct an in-depth study related to the lactoferrin antiviral potential on Japanese encephalitis virus. The aim of this literature study is to identify the mechanism of the lactoferrin antiviral ability of horse milk and analyze the lactoferrin potential of horse milk on Japanese encephalitis virus. In addition, it was obtained from searches and collections of various sources of reference using Mendeley and Google Scholar applications with a total of 52 references. After being analyzed and assessed, the mechanism of antiviral ability lactoferrin mediated by the N-lactoferrin lobe and various antiviral mechanisms, such as attachment of the virus to the host cell membrane and adsorption of the virus to the host cell.

Abstract

Anisakiasis is a zoonotic foodborne disease that infects humans caused by infection with stage III larvae of the nematode worms Anisakis spp., Where the transmission of stage III larvae Anisakis spp. to humans occurs when humans eat raw marine fish. This literature study aims to see the history of the development of anisakiasi in Indonesian waters. In world history, anisakiasis began to occur in the 1960s since an endemic case in the Netherlands (1962) was reported by Van Thiel due to the high consumption of salt fish. Meanwhile, in Indonesia the incidence of anisakiasis in fish was the first time in Sulawesi in 1954 and in 1996 the first incidence of anisakiasis in humans was in Sidoarjo, East Java. Based on the development of Anisakiasis in fish and humans, it can be predicted that it will affect the distribution of anisakis widely and pose risks to aspects of community life, including socioeconomic, environmental, public health and tourism. Until now, investigating shows that the prevalence of anisakis in several regions of Indonesia such as Sumatra, Sulawesi, Java, Bali and NTT is high, where the results of molecular indications indicate that A. tipica has a higher prevalence compared to anisakis species in Indonesian waters.
