Abstract

Adolescence is a period of identity search that makes it easy for them to internalize values or standards from society. This standard is one of the reasons why people experience body shaming. Body shaming is one of the categories of verbal bullying. Objective: The purpose of this study was to determine the incidence of body shaming in adolescents at SMAN “X” Bandung. Method: This research uses a quantitative-descriptive design. The sample in this study was 277 students, and the sampling technique used was proportionate stratified random sampling. This research instrument uses the Body Shaming Scale questionnaire to assess the level of body shaming, which is transliterated into Indonesian with the results of the validity test r count of 0.272–0.830 (r table = 0.257) and Cronbach's alpha value of 0.899. The data analysis used is a univariate analysis with frequency distribution and percentage. Results: The results showed that 54 respondents (19.5%) experienced high body shaming, 204 respondents (73.6%) experienced medium body shaming, and 19 respondents (6.9%) experienced low body shaming. Conclusions: There is a need for education about body shaming and its effects on a person's mental health, as well as counseling for victims who experience body shaming.

Abstract

Thalassemia major causes sufferers to experience severe anemia. This can impact parents’ daily lives as a caregiver of adolescents with thalassemia and makes social support important. Objective: This study aims to identify the relationship between social support and quality of life in parents who have adolescent children with thalassemia major at dr.Slamet Garut Regional Hospital. Method: A cross-sectional approach was applied in this study, which included 64 parents of adolescents with thalassemia major (10-18 years old) who were selected using a consecutive sampling technique. Quality of life values were assessed using the World Health Organization Quality of Life Brief Version (WHOQoL-BREF) and social support was scored using the Multidimensional Scale Of Perceived Social Support (MSPSS). The WHOQoL-BREF is a valid (r=0.390-0.798) and reliable (α=0.941) instrument, as is the MSPSS questionnaire (α=0.920). Spearman correlation test was used for bivariate analysis. Results: There 52 respondents (81.2%) had high social support and 61 respondents (95.3%) with a good quality of life. The results of the correlation analysis revealed a significant relationship that exists between social support and parents' quality of life with a correlation coefficient = 0.447 (p<0.05). Conclusions: Therefore, this research concluded that there is a relationship between social support and quality of life among parents of adolescents with thalassemia major at dr.Slamet Garut Regional Hospital. High social support can improve parents’s quality of life as a caregiver.

Abstract

Work fatigue is a condition that can cause a decrease in efficiency as well as reduced strength or physical endurance of a worker's body and can affect the quality of sleep in workers. Fishermen have a high workload, irregular work schedules, which can affect fatigue and sleep quality. This study aims to determine the relationship between the level of work fatigue and the sleep quality of fishermen. The research method used is descriptive-correlative, using a cross sectional approach. The population in this study were all fishermen who actively worked in Karangjaladri Village, Parigi District, Pangandaran Regency, with a sample size of 131 fishermen. Data was obtained through the Job Fatigue Measuring Tool Questionnaire (KAUPK2) to measure the level of work fatigue and the Pittsburgh Sleep Quality Index (PSQI) to measure sleep quality in fishermen. The data analysis used to connect the two variables used the Spearman rank test. The results of the study showed that the level of work fatigue among fishermen in the less tired category was 19 fishermen (14.5%), 42 fishermen (32.1%) were tired, and 70 fishermen (53.4%) were very tired. The research results also showed that 21 fishermen (16%) had good sleep quality and 110 (84%) had poor sleep quality. The results of statistical tests show that there is a relationship between the level of work fatigue and the quality of sleep in fishermen, with a p value of 0.000. It can be concluded that fishermen have a level of work fatigue in the very tired category and have poor sleep quality.

Abstract

Fear of Missing Out (FoMO) has become an increasingly common phenomenon among adolescents, especially with the increasing use of social media. FoMO can have a negative impact on students' mental well-being, which can result in anxiety, stress, and life dissatisfaction. This study is important to understand the level of FoMO among high school students, as well as the factors that influence it. With the increasing exposure of adolescents to social media, understanding FoMO becomes very relevant to developing effective interventions. This study aims to provide an overview of the level of FoMO among high school students in Bandung. Thus, the results of the study are expected to be the basis for efforts to improve mental health in educational environments. This study aims to describe the level of FoMO in high school students in Bandung and identify the factors that influence it. The design of this study was descriptive with a total sampling technique, involving 100 high schools students in Bandung. Data were collected through a questionnaire using the Online Fear of Missing Out (ON-FoMO) Scale, which consists of 20 questions adapted into Indonesian. Data analysis was carried out using frequency distribution to describe the characteristics of respondents and the level of FoMO. The results showed that the majority of respondents had moderate levels of FoMO, with 30% of respondents experiencing high FoMO. Factors that influence the level of Fear of Missing Out (FoMO) include age, gender, and class, where female students and adolescents tend to experience higher FoMO due to social pressure and intense social media interactions. The impacts of high FoMO can include increased anxiety, stress, and life dissatisfaction, which can affect students' overall psychological well-being. This study provides insight into the level of FoMO among high school students in Bandung, emphasizing the need for interventions to manage the negative impact of social media on students' mental well-being.
