Abstract

Background: Progress in digital technology has prompted commercial banks to undergo digital transformation to improve operational efficiency and consolidate risk management measures. The empirical relationship between bank risk-taking and digital transformation is however inconclusive and subject to contingencies. Purpose: The study aims to examine the effect of digital transformation on credit risk (Non-Performing Loan/NPL), insolvency risk (Z-score), and liquidity risk (Loan-to-Deposit Ratio/LDR) at Indonesian commercial banks during the period from 2014 to 2024. Design/methodology/approach: This study employs the quantitative technique of panel data regression of 10 Indonesian commercial banks. The Analytic Hierarchy Process (AHP) method is also employed to determine the priority between risk indicators affected by digital transformation in order to guarantee methodological triangulation. Findings/Result: The regression result indicates that digital transformation is statistically negatively correlated with credit risk (NPL), although the correlation is not significant at the 5% level. No significant relationship comes out of Z-score and LDR. AHP results identify that NPL has the highest priority weight of 0.7445, indicating that digital transformation activities are primarily focused on mitigating credit risk. Conclusion: Digitalization of Indonesian commercial banks could potentially reduce credit risk but needs further strengthening and testing to obtain statistically significant outcomes. Emphasis on NPL in AHP analysis highlights the strategic importance of credit risk management in digitalization. Originality/value (State of the art): This study contributes to the exceedingly small empirical literature on the impact of digital transformation on risk-taking in emerging banking markets. It combines econometric and decision-making approaches (regression and AHP) for a first-of-its-kind, combined look at the way digital initiatives prioritize different types of banking risks.

Abstract

Gender inequality in the Indonesian workplace is a critical and persistent issue despite the existence of various policy frameworks designed to address it. This study aims to critically analyze the effectiveness of Indonesian government policies in reducing gender inequality in the workplace and to identify the key factors contributing to the gap between regulation on paper and implementation on the ground. Using a qualitative approach with a literature study method, this research synthesizes and analyzes secondary data from government policy documents, laws and regulations, academic journals, and credible reports from national and international institutions. The findings reveal a significant paradox: on one hand, a robust and normative policy architecture is in place, yet on the other, empirical data indicates stagnant inequality, such as low female labor force participation rates (LFPR), a significant gender pay gap, and minimal representation of women in leadership positions. In-depth analysis concludes that this policy failure is caused by a combination of four main factors: (1) weak law enforcement and oversight, which renders policies symbolic; (2) 'gender-blind' policy design that ignores the reality of the double burden borne by women; (3) the hegemony of patriarchal socio-cultural norms that undermine the effectiveness of formal laws; and (4) policy fragmentation and weak synergy among government agencies. This research asserts that the problem lies not in the absence of laws, but in a systemic failure of implementation.

Abstract

The development of the Internet of Things (IoT) has driven the implementation of smart buildings that rely on real-time sensor data collection and analysis. However, cloud computing-based systems often face problems of high latency and large network loads. This research implements an edge computing architecture to optimize sensor data collection in smart buildings. A prototype was built using edge nodes (Raspberry Pi) that process data from temperature, humidity, light, and motion sensors locally before sending it to the cloud. Test results show that edge computing can reduce latency by up to 45% and reduce data traffic to the cloud by 60%, while also improving the energy efficiency of sensor devices. Thus, edge computing has been proven to effectively improve the performance and efficiency of data collection systems in smart buildings

Abstract

Limited human resources and technology trigger the risk of non-optimal use of peatlands. Excessive use of peatlands also encourages land destruction, which is characterized by a decrease in the production function of agricultural products. Excessive economic orientation makes farmers sometimes unable to control sustainable peatland management. However, not all farmers understand that environmental sustainability leads to local economic productivity. From this case, through this study, several objectives emerged, namely knowing the natural potential and characteristics of peatlands in Jambi province. Identifying types of agricultural commodities that can be optimized for peatland use. Also find ways to manage agricultural waste that can be used as an added value for local communities. Some of this information can be obtained through a qualitative research approach with qualitative descriptive analysis. The term optimization has not been understood as environmental balance so it is still translated as land intensification that tends to damage peatlands. The most important productive agricultural business is liberica coffee commodities. Likasih coffee is a characteristic of Jambi's agricultural symbol. Other potential crops include coconut, watermelon, cucumber, and rice. Some of these agricultural businesses indirectly encourage farmers to manage sustainable agricultural businesses. At the same time, it reduces the motivation of palm oil businesses that tend to be exploitative. In addition, agricultural waste, which has not been utilized so far, is well managed by farmers. The processed waste is an added value for the people of Jambi Province

Abstract

Abstract

Poverty is still widely found in Indonesia, especially in rural areas. The relatively low level of education of rural communities results in a lack of community contribution to pursue welfare. There are still many rural people who do not have jobs in the area where they live. On the other hand, some regions in Indonesia are very advanced and developed which are not far from the countryside. This is a phenomenon that is quite concerning. This study examines the impact of the "Eco-Friendly Entrepreneurship for Youth and Adults" program implemented in Lembang, West Java, Indonesia, by PP PAUDNI Regional I Bandung and Jayagiri Center. The program aims to improve the social welfare of the community through eco-friendly entrepreneurship education for youth and adults. The research method used is descriptive qualitative with a case study approach. Data were collected through interviews, documentation, and observations with key informants, including the Head of PP PAUDNI Bandung, program participants from the Lembang community. The results show that the program successfully enhanced participants' economic well-being, preserved local culture, and protected the environment. Participants acquired sufficient entrepreneurial skills to start and develop businesses. This study concludes that non-formal education based on eco-friendly entrepreneurship has great potential in alleviating poverty and improving social welfare. Additionally, the goals of Education for Sustainable Development (ESD), which include developing the knowledge, skills, attitudes, and values needed to build a sustainable future, are reflected in this program, where participants are taught to balance economic growth, environmental preservation, and social welfare.

Abstract

The rapid development of digital communication technology has significantly transformed social interaction patterns, particularly among university students who are active smartphone users. Although smartphones facilitate instant communication and access to information, excessive use may lead to social alienation despite physical togetherness, a phenomenon known as alone together. This study aims to analyze the influence of smartphone use and digital interaction on alone together behavior among university students. The research employed a quantitative approach using a descriptive-correlational method. Data were collected through an online questionnaire distributed to 121 university students in Malang City. The variables examined were smartphone use, digital interaction, and alone together behavior. Data analysis was conducted using validity and reliability tests, classical assumption tests, multiple linear regression, t-test, Ftest, and coefficient of determination (R²). The results indicate that smartphone use has a positive and significant effect on alone together behavior. Digital interaction also shows a positive and significant influence and is the most dominant variable affecting alone together behavior. Simultaneously, smartphone use and digital interaction significantly influence alone together behavior among students. This study concludes that high dependence on smartphones and intensive digital interaction contribute to decreased quality of face-to-face social interaction. Therefore, balancing digital communication and direct interpersonal interaction is essential to maintain students’ social and emotional well-being.
