Abstract

As a national agenda for development, democracy needs to be developed and deepened by both the Indonesian state and society to achieve a just and prosperous country. Within this framework, faith-inspired civil society organizations are expected to promote equality before the law and observe humanistic, pluralistic and tolerant religious social life. This study employs the theory of Bourdieu’s Habitus, Gellner’s Typology of Social Organization and Kymlicka’s Multicultural Citizenship. It also engages other sociological theories, namely the social capital theory of civic community from Putnam, Coleman, Uphof, and religion-state relations theory from Bolland, Menchik, and Hassan. This study is qualitative with a multidisciplinary approach derived from Sociology, Anthropology, Political Science, and History. Research findings suggestthe following: (1) The imbalance of bonding and bridging social capital has tended to result in hegemonic relations among faith-inspired civil society that to some extent excludes equal participation of ‘the others’; (2) The social capital of civil society organizations is highly nuanced and formed based on differences in religious and political orientations, which are the resultant interpretation and understanding of the Sacred texts and its religious culture; (3) Nahdlatul Ulama, Muhammadiyah and Persatuan Tarbiyah Indonesia with moderate religious orientations (wasatiyah) have contributed positively to social capital that is persistent and consistent with democracy, while Hizbut Tahrir Indonesia (HTI) and Front Pembela Islam (FPI) and to a lesser extent Gereja Masehi Injili di Minahasa (GMIM) with religious fundamentalist outlook tend to have an imbalanced social capital, which is resistant toward the so-called “Pancasila democracy”.

Abstract

Studi ini membahas mengenai Representasi Perempuan Pada Tradisi Ulu Apad Dalam Tatanan Awig-Awig Pelaksanaan Prajuru Desa Adat Tenganan yang terletak di Kabupaten Karangasem Kecamatan Manggis. Tradisi Ulu Apad merupakan sebuah sistem kepemimpinan adat serta sistem politik lokal yang diurutkan berdasarkan senioritas perkawinan masyarakatnya,  Namun,  prinsip senioritas ini  tidak hanya melibatkan kaum pria namun perempuan juga ikut ambil bagian dalam keanggotaan yang ada pada sistem Ulu-Apad,  dan harus menekuni serta mempelajari proses ketentuan adat yang panjang selama beberapa tahun agar dapat menduduki suatu jabatan yang strategis. Sistem kepemimpinan ini berjalan sebagai sebuah tradisi yang hakiki karena didasarkan pada kepercayaan masyarakat Desa Adat Tenganan Pegringsingan bahwa yang mereka jalani selama ini telah diwariskan secara turun- temurun,  kepemimpinan Ulu Apad melibatkan sepasang suami istri yang merupakan anggota Desa Adat Tenganan yang berawal dari Krama Desa hingga naik menjadi Kelian Desa atau Tamping Takon Ada tiga pertanyaan penelitian yang diajukan dalam penelitian ini,  yaitu terdiri dari (1) Bagaimana proses representasi dan keterlibatan perempuan dalam tradisi Ulu Apad Dalam Tatanan Awig-awig pelaksanaan prajuru desa adat Tenganan Pegringsingan? (2) Mengapa perempuan lebih mempresentasikan nilai adat dan kepercayaan dalam tradisi Ulu Apad  Dalam Tatanan Awig-awig pelaksanaan prajuru desa adat Tenganan Pegringsingan? (3)Apa implikasi representasi perempuan dalam terwujudnya kesetaraan gender di desa adat Tenganan Pegringsingan? Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui proses,  faktor dan implikasi dari Representasi Perempuan Pada Tradisi Ulu Apad Dalam Tatanan Awig-awig Pelaksanaan Prajuru Desa Adat Tenganan Di Era Reformasi Tahun 1998-2020. Penelitian ini menggunakan teori Sejarah dan teori Fungsionalisme Struktural. Kedua teori tersebut digunakan untuk menjawab ketiga pertanyaan penelitian yang diajukan. Pada penelitian ini penulis menggunakan metode sejarah yang merupakan petunjuk pelaksanaan dan teknis mengenai bahan, kritik, interpretasi dan penyajian sejarah. Data untuk penelitian ini diperoleh melalui studi kepustakaan,  studi dokumentasi, observasi dan wawancara. Dengan adanya pertanyaan tersebut mampu memberikan jawaban yang tepat atau efisien dalam membahas tradisi Ulu Apad terutama dalam representasi perempuan dalam ketentuan awig-awig yang berlaku. Implikasi yang berdampak bagi perempuan di desa Tenganan dan bagi masyarakat antara lain : terbentuknya sistem kekerabatan yang erat dan luas antar warga di desa adat Tenganan Pegringsingan,  pihak laki-laki maupun perempuan memiliki hak dan kewajiban yang sama dalam mengemban tugas sebagai kelian desa.

Abstract

Hubungan Bali dan Banyuwangi dahulu hingga sekarang sangatlah erat, selain karena letak posisi geografis yang dekat hubungan antara Bali dan Banyuwangi juga dipengaruhi oleh unsur sejarah masa lampau yang dimana dahulu salah satu Kerajaan di Bali yakni Mengwi pernah menguasai Kerajaan Blambangan yang ada di Banyuwangi hal inilah merupakan salah satu penyebab dari eratnya hubungan antara Bali dan Banyuwangi, selain itu tidak bisa dipungkiri akibat dari hubungan yang sudah erat sejak jaman dahulu menyebabkan adanya persamaan dan perbedaan kebudayaan antara Bali dan Banyuwangi akibat akulturasi budaya, beberapa kebudayaan di Bali maupun di Banyuwangi memiliki persamaan yang mendasar seperti kesenian barong yang memiliki kesamaan bentuk dan makna. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode deskriptip kualitatif dengan menggunakan sumber-sumber yang telah tersedia. Tujuan Penelitian ini untuk membandingkan persamaan dan perbedaan budaya Bali dan Banyuwangi kepada para pembaca.

Abstract

Banyuwangi merupakan salah satu daerah yang menyimpan kekayaan budaya dan sejarah menarik, salah satunya terkait suku Osing. Kebudayaan sekaligus sejarah terkait suku Osing saat ini dapat ditemukan melalui desa wisata adat. Secara sadar maupun tidak, keberadaan sejarah dan budaya yang ada berpengaruh terhadap kehidupan masyarakat sehingga patut dilestarikan. Untuk memastikan kelestarian sejarah dan budaya suku osing di desa wisata adat tersebut maka diperlukan suatu pengkajian yang mendalam melalui penelitian. Oleh karena itu, penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengidentifikasi implikasi desa wisata adat Kemiren sebagai pelestari sejarah dan budaya suku Osing Banyuwangi. Pembahasan yang dipaparkan mengacu pada konsep teori sejarah, budaya, dan pariwisata. Penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan kualitatif bersifat deskriptif dengan sumber data berupa hasil wawancara, observasi, serta dokumentasi. Instrumen pengumpulan data dalam penelitian ini berupa lembar wawancara, observasi, serta perekam, Berdasarkan hasil penelitian diketahui bahwa desa wisata adat Kemiren memiliki implikasi terhadap kelestarian sejarah dan budaya suku Osing yang turut mempengaruhi kehidupan masyarakat Banyuwangi

Abstract

Abstract: Bali, currently known as one of the world's tourist destinations, has long historical roots. However, Bali is slowly experiencing changes, namely on the one hand trying to adopt and adapt various existing changes, but on the other hand trying to maintain these customs and traditions so that their cultural roots are not eroded. The purpose of this article is to analyze what continues and what changes occur as a result of external influences. The research method used is a qualitative method with a historical approach, expected to provide a better understanding of how Bali, which was once closed to outside cultures, is now seen as an open fortress. Document sources and in-depth interviews were used to dig up information about the history of globalization in Bali. The conclusion in this research reveals that the arrival of Dutch colonial influence, which initiated the development of tourism in Bali during the colonial period, impacted customs and traditions on the one hand. On the other hand, Balinese people began to recognize various artistic influences and art-making techniques as they were introduced later. Ubud and Kuta in Bali have turned into a global village, which on the one hand is very strong with traditional roots, but is very adaptive to Western influences. Abstrak: Bali yang saat ini dikenal sebagai salah satu destinasi wisata dunia memiliki akar sejarah yang panjang. Namun demikian, Bali secara perlahan mengalami perubahan, yaitu di satu sisi berusaha mengadopsi dan mengadaptasi berbagai perubahan yang ada, namun di sisi lain berusaha mempertahankan adat dan tradisi tersebut agar akar budayanya tidak terkikis. Tujuan dari artikel ini adalah untuk menganalisis apa saja yang tetap dipertahankan dan perubahan apa saja yang terjadi akibat pengaruh dari luar. Metode penelitian yang digunakan adalah metode kualitatif dengan pendekatan historis yang diharapkan dapat memberikan pemahaman yang lebih baik tentang bagaimana Bali yang dulunya tertutup terhadap budaya luar, kini dipandang sebagai benteng yang terbuka. Sumber-sumber dokumen serta wawancara mendalam digunakan untuk menggali informasi mengenai sejarah globalisasi di Bali. Kesimpulan dalam penelitian ini mengungkapkan bahwa kedatangan pengaruh kolonial Belanda yang mengawali perkembangan pariwisata di Bali pada masa kolonial berdampak pada adat istiadat di satu sisi, dan di sisi lain, masyarakat Bali mulai mengenal berbagai pengaruh artistik dan teknik pembuatan karya seni yang diperkenalkan kemudian. Ubud dan Kuta di Bali telah berubah menjadi sebuah desa global yang di satu sisi sangat kental dengan akar tradisi namun sangat adaptif terhadap pengaruh Barat.

Abstract

In recent years, the Freedom to Learn and Freedom Campus (MBKM) initiative have been vigorously implemented. These include activities such as internships and student exchanges. While the Freedom to Learn program must be welcomed, it is important to note that some forms of this program are not entirely new, as student exchanges have been conducted at the high school level before. This article outlines the Student Exchange Program (PPS) through the biographical account of a legendary educator from Bali, Wayan Djiwa Duarsa, who founded and led State Teacher Education School (SPGN) Denpasar for 27 years (1959-1986). Data was collected through interviews, focused group discussions, and document studies. The analysis results indicate that in the early 1980s, Djiwa Duarsa pioneered the Student Exchange Program across Java and Bali, aiming to broaden the understanding of the archipelagic values among students and instill a sense of nationalism. In addition to the monumental PPS program, Djiwa Duarsa's biography also depicts the history of SPGN in Bali and its achievements at the national level. This article is expected to contribute to providing an initial study on the history of teacher education in Bali, which is useful for improving the quality of education for the progress of the nation.

Abstract

Adat and religious values played a significant role in the rise of social movements and people power during the Dutch colonial era which is evident in the dynamics of Bali in particular. For centuries, adat customary traditions had been deeply rooted in Balinese communities and strongly contributed to civilization and culture. However, certain factors, such as social, economic and political disturbances have threatened the stability of Balinese communities and culture. From the local perspective of Bali, this posed a threat against the sovereignty of the kingdom of Bali, was still recognized as an autonomous territory. In light of the above issues, this article used an interdisciplinary approach to historiography in analyzing oral history and textual archives. It is hoped to offer a better understanding of how historical Balinese adat and religious values fostered an increase in social resilience and people power when faced with externally generated disturbances.

Abstract

The Balinese who still maintain their cultural traditions are inseparable from the patriarchal culture with a patrilineal system which is clearly seen in married life that embraces the concept of purusa (men as a head of the family). Society is characterized by patriarchal culture which seems to dominate the position of men in decision making that raises the problem of domestic violence. This study analyzes psychological impact for those women who experienced domestic violence in patriarchal culture. This study used qualitative research with case study approach and the number of the respondents was three Balinesse women experiencing domestic violence. The data collected from interview and observation. This study concludes that patriarchal cultural became one of the causes of violence and psychological impacts that experienced by the three cases were feelings of fear, negative thoughts about themselves, feelings of worthlessness, feelings of depression, and release their anger to the child.
