Abstract

Indonesia is a country that has quite large marine and fisheries resources and East Nusa Tenggara is one of the provinces in Indonesia that has very large fisheries resources, for this reason further exploration is being carried out to utilize these fisheries resources for both the domestic and export markets. This research is to find out about the marine and fisheries potential in East Nusa Tenggara and the quality of these fishery products by making direct observations at the Fish Quarantine Station for Quality Control and Safety of Fishery Products (SKIPM) Kupang, East Nusa Tenggara to find out about the fishery products that are trafficked. from the SKIPM. The results of the research show that East Nusa Tenggara has a very large and varied fisheries potential such as Anggoli, Skipjack, Cakalang, Crab Meat, Sweet Lip Fish, Grouper, Red Snapper, Onaga, Hermit crab, Mud Crab, Lobster, Beef Sei Tuna, Shark Fin, Mutira snails, Mackerel, Sea Cucumbers, Tuna Loin, Fan Shrimp, Ronggeng Shrimp, Seaweed and among these products Seaweed and Skipjack tuna are the highest number of fishery products trafficked from SKIPM Kupang, East Nusa Tenggara. The research results also show that 19 products originating from several fish processing units in East Nusa Tenggara province have met the maximum limit criteria for Escherichia coli contamination, namely <3 MPN/g with sensory pass quality or were still suitable and safe for consumption or marketing.

Abstract

Cinnamon leaves contain active compounds such as polyphenols and flavonoids which have antioxidant properties and play a role in lipid metabolism processes. This active substance is known to reduce liver fat levels and has the potential to increase the immune response in catfish. This research aims to determine the effect of adding cinnamon leaf extract to feed on liver fat levels and the health of catfish. Cinnamon leaf extract was added to the feed at five different doses, namely 0 g/kg (control), 0.5 g/kg, 1 g/kg, 2 g/kg, and 4 g/kg feed. The results of the study showed that the addition of cinnamon leaf extract to the feed reduced the fat content in the liver of catfish as seen from the decrease in fat degeneration in the liver of catfish compared to the control. Total erythrocytes, hemoglobin levels and hematocrit levels of fish treated with the addition of cinnamon leaf extract to the feed were lower and significantly different (P<0.05) compared to controls, but total leukocytes were not significantly different between treatment and control.

Abstract

This research was motivated by the ecological importance of mangrove ecosystems as natural habitats for mud crabs (Scylla spp.) and the suspected influence of mangrove density on the population of associated biota in the Mangrove Ecotourism Area of Pantai Kelapa, Tungkal I Village, West Tanjung Jabung. The main objectives of this study were to identify the types and density of mangroves, determine the species and density of mud crabs, analyze the relationship between mangrove density and mud crab density, and assess sediment composition. A descriptive analytical method was employed, using both primary and secondary data collection. The results revealed four species of mangroves (Sonneratia alba, Avicennia alba, Rhizophora mucronata, and Nypa fruticans) with total tree-level densities ranging from 366.66 to 766 individuals per hectare. Two species of mud crabs were identified (Scylla serrata and Scylla tranquebarica), with densities ranging from 200 to 566 individuals per hectare. The highest mud crab density was recorded at station 3, which also had the highest mangrove density. A simple linear regression analysis showed an R² value of 0.3226, indicating a weak correlation. These findings suggest that mangrove density has a limited and statistically insignificant influence on the density of mud crabs in the study area.
