Abstract

This research was conducted to assess the availability of road networks in Dusun Wailapia and its impact on the mobility and activities of the community. The study identified that although road networks exist, they need to be improved, causing constraints in daily activities, especially for commuting to schools and conducting inter-village trading. The findings revealed that the existing number of transportation facilities needs to be increased to support community mobility, resulting in many still relying on private vehicles. The length of the inter-village road is approximately 1000 meters with a road width of about 3 meters, but the poor road condition hinders accessibility. The research developed several alternative strategies, including enhancing government and community collaboration, repairing and asphalting roads, and expanding public transportation facilities. The study aims to improve the quality of road networks, thereby facilitating mobility and enhancing the quality of life for the residents of Dusun Wailapia, as well as supporting economic growth and the tourism sector in the region.

Abstract

In the era of global economic dynamics, geographical factors have proven to be crucial variables that shape a region's identity and distinct characteristics. This article aims to elucidate the fundamental impacts of geographical factors on regional income. This research is a literature review conducted by analyzing and evaluating relevant written sources concerning the studied topic or issue. The analysis results reveal that complex topography and extreme climatic conditions can create unique economic opportunities and challenges within a region. The interplay of these geographical factors forms a distinct narrative about the economic development of a region. Abundant natural resources offer significant income potential, yet prudent management is necessary for long-term economic sustainability. Coastal regions provide essential trade and tourism opportunities, and marine resources become valuable assets in boosting coastal region income. Abstract

Land use change is a global phenomenon with significant impacts on the environment, society, and economy, especially in metropolitan areas experiencing rapid urbanization. This study aims to analyze the dynamics of land use change, the driving factors, and the resulting ecological and socio-economic impacts. The method used in this research is a literature review with a qualitative approach. Data were collected from various secondary literature sources, including books, journal articles, research reports, and dissertations relevant to the research topic. The findings indicate that urbanization is the primary driver of land use change, leading to the conversion of green spaces such as forests and agricultural land into urban areas. The impacts of these changes include air quality degradation, increased flood risk, soil degradation, and loss of biodiversity. Case studies in cities such as Jakarta, Bangkok, and Manila illustrate how rapid urbanization transforms urban landscapes and creates complex environmental challenges. This research emphasizes the importance of sustainable land management through the application of landscape-based models that integrate spatial and temporal data to predict future land use changes. Evidence-based policy recommendations are provided to support more sustainable and environmentally friendly development. The results of this study are expected to contribute to the development of theory and practice in land use change studies and provide a framework that can be applied in various geographical and socio-economic contexts.

Abstract

This research aims to reveal the system and management of the Batu Merah Public Cemetery (TPU) in Ambon City, assess the condition of the road distribution in the Batu Merah TPU, and formulate strategies for managing the Batu Merah TPU in Ambon City. The research uses a qualitative descriptive method. The research variables include the principles of public cemetery arrangement as explained by Hutauruk (2010), involving key components such as: 1) Burial Plots (Space Arrangement, Identification, and Numbering), 2) Vegetation Elements (Gardens, Trees, and Plant Selection), 3) Pedestrian Paths (Accessibility and Lighting). Data collection methods in this study are observation, interviews, and documentation. The population in this research context refers to all objects related to the research problem. The population includes all individual cases and various phenomena within the Kebun Cengkeh TPU area. This includes the TPU management structure, existing graves, and the surrounding community associated with the public cemetery. A well-managed Public Cemetery (TPU) will have a positive impact on the community by fulfilling the need for burial spaces. Conversely, if the TPU is not well-organized and managed, it can have negative impacts such as environmental pollution. In Ambon City, the TPU can no longer accommodate more burials. The Ambon City Government needs to immediately realize the provision of new land and manage the TPU well so that community needs are met and social issues do not arise. The Ambon City Government also needs to establish Regional Regulations on the Arrangement and Management of Public Cemeteries to serve as official guidelines in managing TPUs in the city

Abstract

Disasters can greatly impact society, especially vulnerable groups such as older people, children, women, and people with disabilities due to their physical, mental, and social limitations. Disaster preparedness programs such as School Disaster Preparedness (SDP) can be a solution to reduce the impact of disasters on vulnerable groups, especially children in schools. Through SDP, students are trained to have appropriate skills, knowledge, and behaviour to deal with disaster situations. The training aims to increase people's understanding of landslides and readiness to face disasters through the SDP program. The training methods include lectures and simulation practices for evacuation. The participants are elementary school students and local communities. The selection of vulnerable groups is based on the social and economic characteristics of the local community. The training results showed that people's understanding of landslides and readiness to face disasters increased after the training. In addition, the training also improved the ability of students and vulnerable groups to evacuate safely and effectively. The SDP program needs to be continuously socialized and supported by relevant parties to ensure optimal landslide disaster preparedness and mitigation in Ambon City.

Abstract

This research examines the role of the Ambonsche Studiefonds and Sarekat Ambon organizations in fostering nationalism among Maluku natives and in the struggle for Indonesian independence. Using the historical method, this research explores how the Ethical Policy introduced by the Dutch East Indies government influenced the emergence of pro-independence organizations and how they played a role in mobilizing resistance to colonialism. The Ethical Policy, motivated by the Dutch' debt of honor' towards its colonies, opened up access to education for natives and indirectly encouraged national consciousness. The results show that the Ambonsche Studiefonds played a role in expanding access to education for Maluku natives, thus increasing nationalist awareness among them. In addition, Sarekat Ambon became an essential forum for resistance after the transfer of its headquarters to Surabaya, which contributed to the struggle for Indonesian independence. This research also highlights the existence of the Malukan nationalist movement despite many of its members being victims of torture by the Japanese occupation army. Their loyalty and fighting spirit ultimately contributed to Indonesia's independence in 1945. Based on the findings in the heuristic process, this research emphasizes the importance of understanding and appreciating the role of Malukan nationalists in the history of Indonesia's independence struggle. It is hoped that the results of this research can inspire the younger generation to uphold the spirit of nationalism and national unity in facing contemporary challenges.

Abstract

This study examines the geographical distribution and variation of local wisdom in Indonesia and its implications for cultural preservation. Local wisdom is traditional knowledge developed from the long-term interaction between communities and their environment, influenced by geographical conditions such as climate, topography, and natural resources. These geographical variations result in diverse forms of local wisdom that adapt to the physical and social environment. This study employs a literature review method by analyzing relevant literature to identify critical patterns and themes related to the relationship between geography and local wisdom. The findings indicate that geographical environments greatly influence local wisdom and are crucial in maintaining ecosystem balance and cultural identity. However, modern challenges such as globalization, urbanization, and environmental changes threaten the preservation of local wisdom. Therefore, preservation strategies involving systematic documentation, education, and cultural protection policies are needed. This study emphasizes the importance of preserving local wisdom to safeguard cultural heritage and environmental sustainability in Indonesia
