Abstract

Human geography is a branch of science that seeks to understand the complex interactions between humans and their physical environment. The spatial perspective is a central approach in human geography, emphasizing the importance of analyzing location, distribution, and spatial relationships in understanding geographical issues. This study explores various aspects of the spatial perspective in human geography, including its crucial role in understanding human geography, its historical development, and its theoretical implications. The introduction discusses the basic concepts of human geography and how the spatial perspective aids in analyzing human interactions with their physical environment. Furthermore, it explores the theoretical implications of the spatial perspective in human geography, including its impact on understanding human mobility, location and distribution analysis, and human vulnerability to natural disasters. The study also addresses the relevance of the spatial perspective in the context of future research directions in the field of human geography. Overall, this study highlights the essential role of the spatial perspective in understanding the interactions between humans and their physical environment within the framework of the human geography discipline.

Abstract

Urban waste management is unavoidable in efforts to maintain and improve the quality of life in cities worldwide. This research examines various aspects of urban waste management by adopting a literature review methodology. In the context of urban waste management, it is not just a local issue but also significantly impacts the environment, public health, and future cities' sustainability. The study's findings indicate that urban waste management is a critical and complex issue many cities face globally. The challenges involved require sustainable solutions to ensure the future sustainability of cities. One crucial step in addressing these challenges is raising public awareness about the importance of proper waste management. The public can better understand and appreciate sustainable waste management practices such as segregation, recycling, and waste reduction through appropriate education and campaigns. By developing the necessary infrastructure and implementing innovative solutions, cities can reduce the negative impacts of waste management.

Abstract

A teacher can be said to be professional and not only can master the material and concepts but must master how to teach and how learning strategies can be conveyed to students properly. These two things are between material (content) and how to teach (pedagogy), which are mutually sustainable and cannot be separated. The importance of continuity between material and pedagogics emerges, and a new understanding of how to combine material knowledge and convey it to students, namely pedagogical content knowledge (PCK), appears. The essential components of PCK are Pedagogical Knowledge (PK) and Content Knowledge (CK). This type of research is descriptive research. Descriptive research. Quantitative analysis through categorization. This study uses quantitative research as the process of data collection and processing. Quantitative research is research that uses a lot of numbers, from collecting data and interpreting data to presenting results. Based on the calculation of the PCK level at SMP Negeri 21 Ambon through the teacher's PCK test consisting of 52 open-ended questions, it is known that the ideal means is 26, and the perfect standard deviation is 7.78. Furthermore, it was found that 3 teachers were in the high PCK category, 2 teachers were in the medium PCK category, and 1 teacher was in the low PCK category.

Abstract

In the study of geography, the complexity studied covers a broad aspect of various geosphere phenomena with a unique approach as a geographical identity in examining every problem spread across the earth. The approach referred to as an analytical tool in assessing geographic reality includes spatial, ecological, and complex regional approaches. From this approach, geographers can examine various realities on earth more comprehensively by referring to the multiple problems in each region and simultaneously being a differentiator with various other sciences. From a geographical perspective, the geosphere phenomenon is analyzed based on the regional landscape as a causative factor. The underlying physical conditions are accompanied by various human activities that indirectly change nature so that the area experiences multiple damages. Spatially and ecologically, various damages can be mapped, emphasizing human interaction with nature. Then, it is thoroughly studied in a complex area so that an understanding of the causes of flooding and solutions that can be put forward can be realized more specifically. It is the geography specification that contributes ideas for advancing science and knowledge.

Abstract

With time, the terminology of ecotourism continues to evolve. This study aims to explore the role of local wisdom in the sustainable management of ecotourism from the perspective of indigenous communities in Indonesia. This research focuses on how traditional knowledge and practices can be integrated into ecotourism management to support environmental sustainability, enhance the economic welfare of local communities, and strengthen cultural identity. The research method used is a literature review, examining relevant journals and literature from the past five years. The findings show that the active involvement of indigenous communities in ecotourism management, as seen in Komodo National Park, the Subak system in Bali, and indigenous communities in North Sulawesi, can yield significant benefits. Indigenous community participation increases conservation awareness, community participation, and fair distribution of economic benefits. However, challenges such as lack of policy support and conflicts of interest must be addressed. This study recommends developing policies that recognize and value local wisdom, capacity building for indigenous communities through training and education, and implementing participatory approaches at every stage of ecotourism project planning and execution

Abstract

This study aims to (1) determine the amount of carbon availability in various land uses in the protected forest area of Mount Sirimau, Ambon City, and (2) determine the potential for CO2 absorption based on land use in the protected forest area of Mount Sirimau, Ambon City. The method in this study consisted of making land use maps, measuring plant biomass, and laboratory work. The results showed that the total carbon availability in the protected forest of Mount Sirimau was 418.98 tons/ha, which came from tree carbon stocks, 402.25 tons/ha (96%), and undergrowth, 16.69 tons/ha (4% ). Based on land use, the most extensive carbon stocks came from primary dryland forest land use of 187.59 tons/ha, secondary dryland forest at 100.48 tons/ha, shrubs at 32.59 tons/ha (7.78%), dry agriculture land at 31.41 tonnes/ha (7.5%), mixed dryland agriculture 59.25 tonnes/ha (14.14%), savanna 6.78 tonnes/ha (1.62%) and settlements 0.84 tonnes/ha (0.2%). The potential for carbon dioxide absorption by vegetation in the protected forest of Mount Sirimau is 1,537.50 tons CO2/ha. The most considerable absorption came from tree-level vegetation of 1,476.25 tons CO2/ha or 96% of the total CO2 absorption. Based on land use, primary dryland forest has the most remarkable ability to absorb CO2, namely 688.45 tonnes of CO2/ha or 44.78% of the total CO2 absorption.

Abstract

The rapid and complex development of cities has impacted various aspects of people's lives, including environmental, social, economic, and political issues. Therefore, spatial planning is essential in maintaining sustainable urban development. Geography is crucial in determining optimal spatial patterns, identifying and analyzing urban area issues, and providing solutions and recommendations to overcome them. In spatial planning, geography also utilizes GIS (Geographic Information System) technology to map and analyze spatial data visually, which can assist in decision-making and more effective and efficient development planning. In this regard, the role of geography is critical to understanding and identifying these issues and providing appropriate and sustainable solutions. In conclusion, geography has a significant role in urban spatial planning. It can assist in determining optimal spatial patterns, identifying and analyzing urban area issues, and providing appropriate and sustainable solutions and recommendations..

Abstract

The paradigm of multicultural education is becoming increasingly important in strengthening cultural, linguistic, and religious diversity in Indonesia. Multicultural education in Indonesia is a form of education that values, respects, and strengthens Indonesia's cultural, linguistic, and religious diversity. To achieve the goals of multicultural education, multicultural teaching strategies and models must be applied, including teaching that values cultural and linguistic diversity, integration of cultural content in learning, empowerment of ethnic groups in learning, and the use of information and communication technology in learning. Evaluating multicultural teaching is also important to ensure the effectiveness of the models and strategies applied. Evaluation can be carried out through several indicators, such as student participation in learning, ability to appreciate cultural and linguistic diversity, and ability to communicate with various ethnic groups

Abstract

Developing underdeveloped regions is an important regional development issue requiring special attention. This article discusses the limitations of technology and innovation that often hinder the development of underdeveloped regions. In addition, this article also discusses the potential of natural resources in underdeveloped regions and how their utilization can support regional development. A case study of the development of underdeveloped regions in Indonesia is also discussed to provide an overview of the success and failure of underdeveloped regional development programs and the factors that influence the success of these programs. Overcoming the gap or problem of underdeveloped regional development requires integrated and sustainable efforts between the government, community, and private sectors. These efforts can be carried out through various programs and policies that support the development of human resources, infrastructure improvement, and sustainable utilization of natural resources.

Abstract

Corn is a vital food commodity that plays a significant role in the Indonesian economy and is a staple food in several regions. This research is of a Qualitative Descriptive nature. The location of this study is Dusun Romleher Selatan, Desa Wonreli, Kecamatan Pulau – Pulau Terselatan. The population in this study consists of 20 individuals, while the sample selected randomly includes 10 individuals. Data collection techniques employed are observation, interviews, and documentary studies. Once the research data is gathered, it will be analyzed using the data analysis techniques chosen by the researcher. The research results indicate that wet milling (soaking) yields more flour than dry milling (without soaking). However, the nutritional content of dry-milled flour is higher. Mechanically processing corn into flour using a degerminator and a flour mill produces a wonderful flour texture.
