Abstract

This study aims to explain how informal democratic institutions, such as aristocracy and customary institutions, interact with formal democratic institutions within the framework of modern state institutions. This study was conducted in the Sumbawa Regency by considering the Lembaga Adat Tana Samawa (Tana Samawa Customary Institution) which is the embodiment of the revitalization of the Sumbawa Sultanate as an informal democratic institution. This study aims to further trace how aristocracy in Sumbawa, represented by Tana Samawa Customary Institution (LATS), plays a role in local democracy. This study uses Helme and Levitsky's analytical framework to examine how informal institutions are positioned relative to formal institutions as seen in four typologies; (1) complementary informal institutions, (2) accommodating informal institutions, (3) competing informal institutions, and (4) substitutive informal institutions. By interviewing Sumbawa LATS administrators, Sumbawa regional leaders, and document studies, this research shows that LATS Sumbawa Regency can complement the role of formal institutions and accommodate formal institutions. Abstract

Accurate monitoring of ground vehicle and aircraft movement in the airport airside is essential to reduce the risk of incidents caused by limited coordination between controllers, pilots, and ground operators. This study proposes the design of a ground movement tracking system for airside operations, utilizing a Global Navigation Satellite System (GNSS) module (Matek M10Q-5883) and a Long Range (LoRa) communication module (LILYGO ESP32), integrated with a web dashboard for real-time visualization. The system was developed using the Waterfall methodology, covering requirement analysis, system design, hardware and software implementation, and performance testing in simulated airside conditions. Experimental results show that the system achieved an average coordinate deviation of only 0.000017º equivalent to about 1.7 meters  compared to a reference device, and maintained reliable data transmission up to 1.4 km under line-of-sight conditions. These findings demonstrate that the proposed system provides accurate and stable monitoring of ground movements, offering a cost-efficient and weather-independent alternative to GSM-based solutions. In addition, by optimizing LoRa parameters, the system successfully extended its communication range beyond the ~1 km typically reported in related studies, highlighting its novelty and contribution to enhanced safety in airport operations.

Abstract

This community service activity aims to improve the knowledge and skills of athletes and coaches in managing nutritional strategies based on extra food loading to support the performance and recovery of athletes in leading martial arts in Mataram City. The background of this activity is the low practical understanding of the importance of structured nutritional intake in supporting physical abilities, endurance, and physiological adaptation of athletes, especially female athletes who face hormonal challenges, menstrual cycles, and the risk of Female Athlete Triad (FAT). The implementation of this activity was carried out through an educational approach that included training, nutritional consultations, and demonstrations of post-exercise nutritional interventions. The material presented covered the importance of proper nutritional intake, such as high-quality protein, vitamin D, and iron, as well as the implementation of energy recovery strategies after intensive training. The method used was a Focus Group Discussion (FGD), which involved athletes and coaches to dig deeper into the challenges faced in terms of fulfilling nutritional needs and understanding the influence of physiological cycles on the performance of female athletes, especially female athletes who face the risk of Female Athlete Triad (FAT). The results of this activity showed an increase in the understanding of coaches and athletes regarding specific nutritional needs, as well as the implementation of extra food loading strategies to maximize performance and recovery. This program not only provides short-term benefits in the form of increased knowledge but also builds collective awareness of the importance of nutritional literacy in athlete development.

Abstract

This article analyzes social protests in early 20th-century Batavia, focusing on the resistance of community leader Entong Gendut against the Dutch East Indies government. Employing a historical approach, the research draws upon primary sources like newspapers, archival documents, and relevant historical literature, like in Memorie van Overgave Residen van Batavia 1987, De Locomotief newspaper. It reveals that Entong Gendut's resistance encompassed diverse forms of protest, including demonstrations, strikes, and public campaigns. His struggle against the colonial government heightened awareness of indigenous rights and ignited a broader social protest movement in Batavia. This research enriches our understanding of early 20th-century Batavian social protest dynamics and Entong Gendut's role in raising awareness of colonial injustice. The European government-imposed restrictions on the indigenous population to prevent them from expanding their political and social influence. It underscores the significance of historical studies in recognizing the contribution of local figures to anti-colonial struggles and their relevance to broader Indonesian history. They fought to defend their land from colonial rule.

Abstract

This study examines the complex relationship between sharia and constitutionalism in three Muslim-majority countries: Indonesia, Türkiye, and Saudi Arabia. Despite their majority Muslim population, these countries have adopted divergent approaches in integrating—or delimiting—the role of sharia within their constitutional frameworks. Drawing on interviews with legal and political scholars from each country, the research employs a comparative political-constitutional approach to analyze the dynamics of sharia constitutionalism across these distinct contexts. The findings reveal varying degrees of constitutional accommodation of sharia. Indonesia exemplifies a model of religious constitutionalism, where Islamic principles are acknowledged but not formally codified within the constitutional text. Türkiye represents a paradigm of secular constitutionalism that distinctly separates religion and state, excluding sharia from the constitutional and legal order. In contrast, Saudi Arabia exhibits a puritan constitutionalism, whereby the Quran and Hadith constitute the primary sources of constitutional authority. These contrasting models illuminate broader ideological and institutional orientations: Saudi Arabia grounds its constitutional identity in religion, Indonesia integrates certain religious principles within a pluralistic framework, and Türkiye maintains a secularist stance that confines religion to the private sphere.

Abstract

Nusantara is known as the world's main supplier of spices since classical times. Various spices such as pepper, nutmeg and cloves are excellent in the international market. Studies on Indonesian spices, as conducted by Wellan, OW Wolters, J.C. Van Leur, Chalwani Michrob to Fahmi Irfani show a map of the important pepper trade in Sumatra and Java. It should be noted that the spice trade network is also related to the spiritual contact between Islam and Hindu-Buddhist teachings or local beliefs. This can be seen traces in Palembang, Banten and Demak. By using the historical method armed with a socio-economic approach, a number of historical explanations can be found. The author uses an explanation model by looking at the function of the port on the coast, its relation to trade routes in the interior. The purpose of writing this article is to present a new study for the historical discourse of Islam Nusantara. As is well known, seas, lakes, rivers and various watery inlets, both dynamic and static, are not a barrier to human interaction in the archipelago. In addition to the commercial aspect, which has been widely reviewed by a number of previous researchers, there is other information that has not been discussed, namely the existence of a spiritual-intellectual network that is connected between one area and another. The author finds a number of interesting facts, such as the emergence of the discourse of Islamic cosmopolitanism which is the result of a dialogue between immigrant and coastal communities. For example, in the case of the establishment of the Palembang Sultanate, Ki Gede ing Suro, a political figure from Demak, built a mosque near the Kutogawang Palace as a locus of Islamic education for the local population. There are findings in the form of the distribution of Ilmu Kebal (similar to Ilmu Pancasona) which was inherited by Arya Penangsang from Jipang Panolan, Central Java, to his descendants who are believed to still exist in the Mount Batu, Komering. This cross-island relationship is an important finding that confirms that in the XV-XVI centuries, cross-island intellectual spiritual contacts have been found in the archipelago. This article is the result of research on cities and intellectual networks in Palembang, Banten and Palembang funded by the Ministry of Religion of the Republic of Indonesia.

Abstract

-2,415). Temuan ini mengindikasikan bahwa circuit training selama 6 minggu efektif meningkatkan VO₂max pada atlet bulutangkis Pelatda Rinjani, meskipun interpretasi kausal tetap mempertimbangkan keterbatasan desain tanpa kelompok kontrol dan penggunaan estimasi VO₂max berbasis tes lapangan. The Effect of Circuit Training on Endurance (VO2Max) in Badminton Athletes at the Rinjani Regional Training Center, East Lombok Regency in 2025 Abstract Badminton is an intermittent, high-intensity racket sport that requires repeated explosive efforts with rapid recovery; therefore, aerobic endurance (VO₂max) is a key fitness component in performance development. This study aimed to determine the effect of circuit training on aerobic endurance (VO₂max) in badminton athletes of the Rinjani Regional Training Center (Pelatda Rinjani), East Lombok Regency, in 2025. A quantitative experimental approach with a one-group pretest–posttest design was employed. Twelve active and healthy athletes who consistently attended the Pelatda training program were recruited using purposive sampling. The intervention consisted of a 6-week circuit training program (16 sessions). VO₂max was estimated using the Multistage Fitness Test (MFT) administered before (pretest) and after (posttest) the intervention. Normality assumptions were met (Shapiro–Wilk: pretest p=0.460; posttest p=0.333). Descriptive results indicated that mean VO₂max increased from 47.32±4.57 ml·kg⁻¹·min⁻¹ to 50.28±4.27 ml·kg⁻¹·min⁻¹ (Δ=2.97 ml·kg⁻¹·min⁻¹). A paired-samples t-test demonstrated a statistically significant improvement from pretest to posttest (t=-11.826, df=11, p<0.001; 95% CI for the mean difference: -3.519 to -2.415). These findings suggest that a 6-week circuit training program can effectively improve VO₂max in Pelatda badminton athletes. However, causal inference should be interpreted cautiously given the absence of a control group and the use of a field-based VO₂max estimation.
