Abstract

Sugar is a crucial commodity in Indonesia, with demand increasing annually. Variations in sugar production require accurate prediction strategies for industrial planning. This study aims to analyze the performance of the Extreme Learning Machine (ELM) and Multiple Linear Regression (MLR) methods in predicting sugar production. This research employs a quantitative experimental approach, with sugar production data during the 2020-2023 milling period as the research subject. Data collection techniques involve observation and documentation, while data analysis techniques utilize Mean Absolute Percentage Error (MAPE) and 10-Fold Cross-Validation to measure model accuracy. The results indicate that ELM has a lower error rate (MAPE 16.06%) compared to MLR (MAPE 27.90%), making it more effective in capturing complex sugar production patterns. Implementing this model in a web-based system also enables more efficient production monitoring. The ELM method proves to be superior in predicting sugar production and can be integrated into industrial systems to support data-driven decision-making. Future research can explore other predictive models, such as deep learning, and consider external factors like weather and soil conditions to enhance accuracy.

Abstract

The limitation of children with disabilities raises the idea of the barriers of the church and church members in developing spiritual and religious environments. This paper portrays an exploratory study that explores the perceptions of companions or volunteers on the spirituality and religiosity of Christian children with disabilities. Data were collected by focus group discussions among five participants. The finding shows that the mentoring process needs to be criticized, which links the spirituality and religiosity of children with disabilities to praying and singing hymns. The church has not fully implemented inclusiveness both in physical facilities and services. Families have an essential role in developing the spirituality and religiosity of children with disabilities. Characteristics of children more or less hinder the companion in facilitating the development of spirituality and religiosity of children with disabilities.

Abstract

The problem addressed in this study is the limited capacity of district-level food-security monitoring in Indonesia to anticipate deterioration in the following year, particularly when prediction relies on short longitudinal histories and must account for repeated observations, class imbalance, temporal change, and regional variation. The method involved constructing 2,056 temporally ordered prediction instances from Food Security Index data covering 514 Indonesian districts and cities during 2019–2024, representing six regional indicators through their current values and annual changes, and evaluating Logistic Regression, Random Forest, and eXtreme Gradient Boosting through district-grouped crossvalidation, alternative imbalance treatments, and an untouched 2023–2024 out-of-time test; temporal ablation, cluster-robust Logistic Regression, SHapley Additive exPlanations, sensitivity analysis, anddirect assessment in East Java were subsequently conducted. The result showed that Logistic Regression achieved the strongest screening-oriented performance, with a recall of 0.690, an F1-score of 0.450, a Receiver Operating Characteristic Area Under the Curve of 0.615, and a Precision–Recall Area Under the Curve of 0.404, while annual-change features improved F1-score and Precision–Recall Area Under the Curve across all three classifiers. However, performance declined in East Java, where two of four deterioration cases were detected, and 22 false-positive warnings were generated. The implication is that parsimonious temporal features provide useful predictive information beyond current regional conditions, although the model is more appropriate for screening and prioritization than for autonomous administrative classification, while operational use requires local calibration, longitudinal data auditing, threshold assessment, and validation across additional provinces and later annual transitions.
