Abstract

This study aims to analyze the effectiveness of the Reading Guide model in improving reading comprehension skills among elementary school students in Indonesian language learning. The research background is based on the low level of students’ reading literacy, particularly in identifying main ideas, answering literal questions, making inferences, and drawing conclusions from texts. The study employed a quantitative approach with a quasi-experimental type using a one-group pretest–posttest design. The research subjects were 30 fourth-grade students of SD Islam Ummul Quro Bekasi, selected through purposive sampling. Data were collected using a reading comprehension test in the form of essay questions, which had been validated by experts and tested for reliability. Data analysis included descriptive statistics, N-Gain calculation, and a paired sample t-test. The results revealed a significant increase in the mean score from 55.3 on the pretest to 84.7 on the posttest, with a difference of 29.4 points. The N-Gain analysis indicated that 40.0% of the students were in the high category, 53.3% in the moderate category, and only 6.7% in the low category. The t-test results showed a significance value of 0.000 (p < 0.05), confirming a statistically significant difference between the pretest and posttest results. These findings emphasize that the application of the Reading Guide model is effective in improving elementary students’ reading comprehension skills. Therefore, this strategy can be recommended as a simple, practical, and impactful alternative to strengthening fundamental literacy skills.

Abstract

Setelah mengamati, melakukan wawancara dengan Guru Kelas VI, dan melakukan magang selama 3 bulan di SD IT YPI 45 Bekasi, ditemukan bahwa siswa kelas VI mengalami kesulitan dalam kemampuan menulis teks eksplanasi, khususnya dalam menyampaikan gagasan dan menyusun kalimat yang baik. Siswa juga sulit untuk menulis peristiwa secara berurutan. Penelitian ini ditujukan untuk memperbaiki kemampuan siswa kelas VI dalam menulis teks eksplanasi. Metode yang diterapkan dalam penelitian ini, yaitu metode Penelitian Tindakan Kelas dengan singkatan PTK yang dilaksanakan dengan siklus 1 dan siklus 2. Pada siklus 1, nilai terendah tercatat di angka 40, tetapi di siklus 2, nilai terendah adalah 72, yang dicapai oleh 2 dari 19 siswa, dengan KKM penilaian adalah 75. Oleh karena itu, dapat dipastikan bahwa penelitian ini sukses karena mencapai 89% dari total. Dari perbaikan hasil keseluruhan yang dicapai oleh siswa, hal ini menunjukkan bahwa menggunakan Flashcard dapat meningkatkan kemampuan menulis teks eksplanasi bagi siswa kelas VI di SD IT YPI 45 Bekasi.

Abstract

Abstract: An This study is motivated by the low mastery of English vocabulary, this can be seen in the condition of students who are still difficult in writing vocabulary, responses that are quite long and confused in interpreting vocabulary, hard pronounce for the correct vocal letters and students are still confused in compiling vocabulary into a complete sentence. The purpose of this study is to enhance English vocabulary using the scramble model for fourth grade students of SDIT Mutiara Hati Bekasi. The method used in this research is Classroom Action Research (CAR) which was carried out in two cycles with three meetings in each cycle. The subjects of this study were fourth grade students of SDIT Mutiara Hati Bekasi, totaling 24 students. The success criteria of this study is 80% with a predetermined minimum score of 75. In this research there were twenty new vocabulary about work learned over two cycles (six meetings). The results of this study showed an increase in mastery of English vocabulary from cycle I to cycle II. Classical completeness in cycle I was 66.66% with an average score of 77.25 then in cycle II there was an increase in classical completeness to 87.5% with an average score of 86.54. So it can be concluded that the scramble model can enhance mastery of English vocabulary in grade IV students of SDIT Mutiara Hati Bekasi.Keywords: Vocabulary Mastery, Scramble Model, Word Game Abstrak: Penelitian ini dilatarbelakangi oleh rendahnya penguasaan kosakata dalam pembelajaran Bahasa Inggris. Hal ini dapat dilihat dari kondisi siswa yang salah dalam menulis kosakata, respon yang lama dan masih tertukar dalam mengartikan kosakata, pelafalan pada huruf vokal yang belum tepat, dan siswa bingung dalam menyusun kosakata menjadi sebuah kalimat yang utuh. Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah untuk meningkatan penguasaan kosakata menggunakan model scramble pada siswa kelas IV SDIT Mutiara Hati Bekasi. Metode yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini yaitu Penelitian Tindakan Kelas (PTK) yang dilakukan sebanyak dua siklus dengan tiga kali pertemuan disetiap siklusnya. Subjek penelitian ini adalah siswa kelas IV SDIT Mutiara Hati Bekasi yang berjumlah 24 siswa. Kriteria keberhasilan penelitian ini yaitu sebesar 80% dari jumlah siswa mencapai skor minimal 75. Pada penelitian ini terdapat dua puluh kosakata baru tentang pekerjaan yang dipelajari selama dua siklus (enam pertemuan). Hasil penelitian ini menunjukan adanya peningkatan penguasaan kosakata bahasa Inggris dari siklus I ke siklus II. Ketuntasan klasikal pada siklus I sebesar 66,66% dengan nilai rata-rata77,25 kemudian pada siklus II mengalami peningkatan ketuntasan klasikal menjadi 87,5% dengan nilai rata-rata sebesar 86,54. Sehingga dapat disimpulkan bahwa model scramble dapat meningkatkan penguasaan kosakata bahasa Inggris pada siswa kelas IV SDIT Mutiara Hati Bekasi.Kata Kunci: Penguasaan Kosakata, Model Scramble, Permainan Kata.

Abstract

This article examines the obstacles that occur to students’ writing essay descriptions in which the type of students’ writing is almost the same, does not use spaces, the lettering is still not appropriate with PUEBI, punctuation marks are not quite right, and the students are still difficult to write the appropriate initial word and determine the flow of writing in sequence. Based on the previous research, the picture and picture model was a solution that could be used. The research purpose was to find out the description of the use of picture and picture models in writing descriptive essays. The research method used was a Systematic Literature Review. The research was conducted by collecting data in the form of journals regarding the application of picture and picture models to improve the students’ writing skills of descriptive essays on Indonesian learning subjects in elementary school. The research used 14 journals with criteria for the last 10 years of journal publication in 2012–2013 through a picture and picture model with independent variables used to write descriptive essays on Indonesian learning subjects for elementary school students. The game that could be used in the application of the picture and picture model was "who is fast he can", this game made students easier to understand what was intended by the teachers when teaching the learning material and students are quick to grasp the presented material because it was accompanied by the pictures.
