Abstract

Kebun Raya Cibinong merupakan salah satu Ruang Terbuka Hijau (RTH) di Kabupaten Bogor yang membentuk asosiasi vegetasi mirip dengan ekosistem hutan alam sehingga menjadi habitat berbagai jenis hewan termasuk kelelawar. Belum pernah dilakukan inventarisasi jenis kelelawar di Kebun Raya Cibinong, padahal kelelawar memiliki jasa ekologi penting di kawasan urban. Koleksi kelelawar dilakukan dengan menggunakan jaring kabut/mist net yang dipasang di lima titik pengamatan. Berdasarkan hasil pengamatan, ditemukan 76 individu kelelawar famili Megachiroptera yang termasuk ke dalam tujuh spesies yaitu Cynopterus brachyotis (38 individu), C. horsfieldii (3 individu), C. sphinx (10 individu), C. titthaecheilus (5 individu), Cynopterus sp. (3 individu), Macroglossus sobrinus (15 individu) dan Rousettus leschenaultii (2 individu). Hasil perhitungan indeks keragaman Shannon-Wiener didapatkan nilai antara 0,47–1,55; indeks kekayaan spesies Margalef berkisar antara 0,42–1,67. Kelimpahan kelelawar di Kebun Raya Cibinong cenderung merata dengan indeks kemerataan (Eveness) 0,62. Tidak ada spesies yang dominan dengan nilai indeks dominansi sebesar 0,31.

Abstract

Macrobrachium lanchesteri merupakan udang air tawar yang menyebar luas di perairan Indonesia dan berpotensi mengganggu ekosistem lokal. Penelitian ini bertujuan mengkaji aspek ekologi M. lanchesteri di Danau Telaga Inspirasi, Kampus IPB Dramaga. Pengambilan sampel dilakukan pada delapan titik menggunakan perangkap berumpan usus ayam selama 48 jam, disertai pengukuran kualitas air (pH, suhu, DO). Hasil menunjukkan kelimpahan individu tertinggi pada titik dengan substrat berlumpur dan vegetasi tepi, khususnya titik 1 dan 4. Suhu dan pH perairan berkisar antara 29,2–30,8 °C dan 6,5–6,8, sedangkan DO berada pada 5,6–6,3 mg/L. Kondisi optimum bagi kelimpahan udang teridentifikasi pada suhu 29–29,5 °C, pH netral (6,5–6,6), dan DO >6 mg/L. Penurunan drastis kelimpahan pada pengulangan kedua diindikasikan akibat kualitas umpan yang menurun. Temuan ini mengonfirmasi preferensi habitat M. lanchesteri pada area bervegetasi dan menunjukkan potensi invasi serta dominansi ekologis yang perlu dimonitor secara berkelanjutan

Abstract

Pitcher plants Nepenthes spp. are insectivorous plants capable of trapping and digesting insects as an additional nutrient sources. Research on insects trapped in the pitchers of Nepenthes plants has been conducted in several regions of Indonesia. Unfortunately, similar research has never been reported in the Southwest Aceh region. This study aims to analyze the diversity and composition of insects trapped in the pitchers of Nepenthes plants in Gunung Samarinda Village, Southwest Aceh, Aceh, Indonesia. The research was conducted using the exploratory method with purposive sampling from January to July 2024, along the path leading to the oil palm plantation. Insect samples were collected from every Nepenthes plant found at the research location and were identified to the species level. The results showed that a total of 1,740 individuals, belonging to 18 species, 12 families, and 6 insect orders, were found in the Nepenthes pitchers. The three most dominant insect species were Aedes aegypti (Linnaeus) (36.21%), Tetramorium marginatum Forel (16.90%), and Anoplolepis gracilipes Smith (13.33%). The highest insect diversity was found in pitcher of  Nepenthes rafflesiana, followed by N. gracilis, and N. ampullaria. However, there was no significant difference in insect composition among the Nepenthes species. These findings indicate that Nepenthes spp. at the research site function as natural traps for insects, with a dominance of certain species. The presence of Nepenthes in its habitat can play a role in the ecosystem balance, particularly in the interaction between insectivorous plants and insect communities.

Abstract

Treatment with natural ingredients is essential for healing incision wounds. One promising natural remedy is land snail mucus, which has been used for centuries to address various health conditions, including wounds. This study aimed to evaluate the effects of mucus from Amphidromus palaceus and Lissachatina fulica on collagen density during the healing process of incision wounds in Rattus norvegicus. The in vivo study included 36 rats, divided into four cages with nine rats per cage. Each of rats subjected to approximately 1 cm incision wounds on their backs. The rats were divided into four groups: a negative control group (KN) receiving aquades, a positive control group (KP) treated with 1% bioplacenton, treatment group 1 (P1) receiving 25 µL of A. palaceus mucus, and treatment group 2 (P2) receiving 25 µL of L. fulica mucus. The experiment concluded on days H3, H5, H7, and H10. Histological preparations were made using MT staining to assess collagen density. The results showed both species of snail mucus significantly increased collagen density compared to the negative control (aquades). However, there were no statistically significant differences when comparing L. fulica, A. palaceus, and bioplacenton. Among all the treatment groups, L. fulica mucus (P2) produced the highest collagen density. These findings suggest that both types of snail mucus hold promising potential in promoting the wound healing process.

Abstract

Waterfalls in Mount Halimun Salak and Babakan Madang serve as critical water sources for Bogor residents, necessitating environmental monitoring using aquatic insect bioindicators. This study identified and compared aquatic insect communities across these waterfalls to assess water quality. EPT orders (Ephemeroptera, Plecoptera, Trichoptera) were prioritized as bioindicators due to their sensitivity to physicochemical changes and association with clean water. Purposive sampling was conducted along 10-meter transects at three stations per location with three replications. Samples were collected using hand nets and preserved in 70% alcohol. Environmental parameters measured included humidity, water temperature, TDS, current velocity, and pH. Specimens were identified using stereo microscopes, reference materials, and the Waterbug Application. Data analysis employed Shannon-Wiener Diversity Index, EPT abundance metrics, NMDS ordination, and BMWP-ASPT Index. Results revealed higher individual counts at Babakan Madang, while Mount Halimun Salak demonstrated greater species diversity. The abundance of EPT is dominated by the Baetidae Family. NMDS Ordination shows the distribution of families in 6 observation stations. Based on the measurement of the BMWP-ASPT Index, the Mount Halimun Salak and Babakan Madang waterfalls have moderately polluted water quality. These findings highlight the importance of continued biomonitoring to protect these vital freshwater resources for local communities.

Abstract

Serangga memiliki berbagai peran di alam, seperti polinator, predator, dan mangsa. Interaksi antara serangga dengan tumbuhan berbunga merupakan elemen penting dalam mendukung proses reproduksi tanaman. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis keanekaragaman serangga pengunjung dan analisis pemisahan temporal kunjungan serangga pada bunga tanaman jagung di Kebun Cikabayan IPB, Dramaga, Bogor. Pengamatan keanekaragaman dilakukan dengan metode Visual Encounter Survey (VES) pada bunga pertanaman jagung selama 15 menit pada pukul 07.00–09.00 dan 15.00–17.00 pada fase generatif dan fase pasca-generatif.Pengamatan serangga pengunjung bunga jagung didapatkan 26 morfospesies yang termasuk dalam 8 ordo dan 22 famili. Tiga famili serangga dominan mengunjungi bunga jagung adalah Apidae, Vespidae, dan Formicidae. Spesies pengunjung terbanyak adalah lebah madu (Apis cerana, 83 individu). Hasil analisis menunjukkan tidak ada pemisahan temporal komposisi serangga pada perbedaan waktu dan fase pembungaan. Hasil NMDS menunjukkan pada fase pasca-generatif terdapat kecenderungan pemisahan waktu kunjungan pad pagi dan sore hari.
