Abstract

Land subsidence is a natural phenomenon that occurs due to changes in the position of an object in the vertical direction. There are several factors that cause this phenomenon, including excessive use of ground water, heavy surface loads, and changes in land cover that are not in accordance with the carrying capacity and carrying capacity of the soil. Considering the importance of this phenomenon to human life in general, and infrastructure in particular, regular monitoring must be carried out to determine the magnitude of land subsidence. Monitoring the occurrence of land subsidence can be done using the DINSAR method. This method uses phase differences in remote sensing images from the Sentinel 1 satellite to determine changes in the height of a location from two image data collection times. Data processing with GIS support can be carried out to obtain differences in displacement or movement of the ground surface during the two data collection times. Measuring land subsidence value in the Pantura area uses image data from January 2022 to January 2023. From this research, the maximum value of land subsidence is 2.5 cm in 1 month, 5 cm in 3 months, and 7.5 cm in 1 year. The linear function of land subsidence [y] according the data is y = 4.8058t + 2.8641, where t is the time parameter. With this function, the estimated land subsidence of Pantura Kota Semarang in two years is 12.48 cm.

Abstract

A 20-story building located in Bandung, with a height of 70.5 m, functions as both an office building and an apartment complex. As a high-rise structure, seismic analysis of the building is required to determine the seismic pattern using the response spectrum method. The response spectrum method is used to compare V-static with Vdynamic based on SNI 1726-2019, and to determine the structural performance of the 20-story building frame. The results obtained for each frame using a combination of cases (static + seismic) show that, for displacement review, the highest shift occurs on the 20th floor at 1003.27 mm, and the highest drift value is on the 9th floor at 125.92 mm. The internal forces on the sample column show the highest results on the 5th-floor column C1 with 1.07x105 kN for Fx, 1.95x103 kN for Fy, and a moment of 5.44x103 kN-m, through the combination (static + seismic). Meanwhile, for the reviewed beam forces, the highest values are found on beam B53 on the 6th floor with an Fx value of 80.23 kN, Fy of 3140.53 kN, and the largest moment on the 15th-floor beam B53 of 793.46 kN-m.

Abstract

This study discusses the assessment of liquefaction by triaxial consolidated undrained (CU) testing. The soil sample employs Rembang silica sand with a grain size distribution that lies within the zone of liquefaction. In the test, Liquefaction develops in sand when the ratio of the change in pore water pressure to its confining stress (Ru) turns approximately 1 and the deviator stress drops to approximately zero. According to the findings, loose to medium-dense sand experience liquefaction when the applied confining stress is low (<100 kPa). In sandy soils, limited liquefaction occurs at confining pressures of 200 − 400 kPa with the range of relative densities around 34.41% − 47.78%. Critical state line develops from Triaxial CU testing to predict the undrained and drained behavior of sand.

Abstract

The train is a mode of mass transportation that is fast, efficient, and relatively affordable. To support the high demand for this mode of transportation, adequate infrastructure is also needed. The condition of this infrastructure must always be monitored so that the level of security and safety of rail transportation modes can always be in optimal conditions. One important component that requires regular attention and maintenance is the railway sleepers. In this paper, a finite element (FE) model was made of railway sleepers using ANSYS software. From the analysis on the FE model, it can be explored that the deformation and stress that occurs in the railway due to loading. In this study, vibration tests were also carried out on railway based on several types of passing trains. It aims to determine the frequency value based on the type of passing train. This research is the initial stage of a series of studies on structural health monitoring procedures on railroads.

Abstract

This study used fly ash and bottom ash (FABA) waste as a substitute for aggregate in the road subbase layer. The initial mixture included FABA with a depth of 1 meter and 7 meters without mixing other materials. This mixture is differentiated into two variations with a ratio of variation I (70:30) and variation II (70:30), each fermented for 14 days. The test results showed that the FABA material did not meet the specification of SNI 6388:2015 for class B foundation layers, with a maximum immersion CBR value of 25.32% in variation I and 18.99% in variation II. This study evaluates the feasibility of using FABA as an aggregate substitute material in the subbase layer of road pavement. From the results obtained, FABA material has the potential to be used in subbase construction. Still, adding other materials such as cement or lime is necessary to increase the carrying capacity and meet the set specifications

Abstract

Rapid urbanization and infrastructure expansion in Semarang, particularly in the northern coastal areas, have led to significant land subsidence. Tambak Lorok, located in Tanjung Mas Sub-district, is among the affected areas, with key contributing factors including soft young alluvial soils, excessive groundwater extraction, infrastructure loads, coastal sediment dynamics, and tidal fluctuations. To understand the patterns and rates of land subsidence, this study employs the Interferometric Synthetic Aperture Radar (InSAR) method using the  Sentinel Application Platform (SNAP). The methodology involves the analysis of Sentinel-1A satellite imagery (2020–2024), Digital Elevation Model (DEM) mapping, and examination of changes in watershed (DAS) areas. Additional data were gathered through local community interviews and analysis of Google Maps and DEM data from 2018–2024. Long-term InSAR monitoring reveals that certain areas in North Semarang's coastal zone are subsidining at rates between -0.16 to -0.23 meters per year. Data validation was conducted through triangulation to ensure result accuracy. These findings highlight the need for more effective mitigation strategies, such as stricter groundwater management, adaptive infrastructure upgrades, and spatial planning that considers subsidence risks. Furthermore, remote sensing technology should be complemented with ground-based monitoring to ensure more accurate and data-driven mitigation strategies. The outcomes of this research are expected to serve as a basis for disaster mitigation and sustainable coastal spatial planning

Abstract

Ground Penetrating Radar (GPR) is a device commonly utilized in non-destructive testing (NDT) applications. Its principal advantage lies in its non-invasive nature, allowing for subsurface exploration without causing damage to existing structures or the surrounding environment. Due to this characteristic, GPR has become a leading technology in subsurface investigation. GPR is regarded as an optimal solution for rapidly and efficiently assessing subsurface conditions without inflicting damage on the pavement surface. In this research, GPR technology is employed to analyze the subgrade layers beneath flexible (asphalt) and rigid (concrete) pavements, with the objective of enhancing the effectiveness and sustainability of road maintenance strategies. The data acquisition process is supported by the GAS XPC software for field data recording, while data processing is conducted using GPRSoft and GSSI RADAN 7. A comparison between raw and processed data reveals distinctions that facilitate a more in-depth analysis. Furthermore, discrepancies in data interpretation were observed between the outputs of GPRSoft and GSSI RADAN 7. These differences serve as valuable references for refining data analysis methods and improving the accuracy and reliability of future GPR-based investigations
