Abstract

This research was conducted in Gampong Pusong Lama, Banda Sakti District, Lhokseumawe City. Gampong Pusong Lama, fishing families depend on the husband who works as a capture fisherman. However, problems often arise when the fishermen go out to sea, such as bad weather, which results in low income and makes it difficult to meet the family's growing daily needs. As a result, many wives of capture fishermen also take part in working and contribute to helping their husbands increase the family's income, as is the case in Gampong Pusong Lama, Banda Sakti District, Lhokseumawe City. This study aims to examine the extent of the contribution made by the wives of capture fishermen in improving the household economy in Gampong Pusong Lama, Banda Sakti District, Lhokseumawe City. The data analysis method used is quantitative analysis. The research findings show that most wives of capture fishermen in Gampong Pusong Lama work as traders, such as kiosk owners, mobile credit sellers, small shopkeepers, fried snack vendors, grilled meatball sellers, rice vendors, vegetable stall owners, coffee shop operators, and miso soup stall owners. The average monthly income of the 40 respondents was IDR 1,348,200 or 53.79%, which is classified as a moderate contribution to the household income and is higher than the income of their husbands who work as fishermen, which amounted to IDR 1,028,000.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze avocado farming income and identify the factors that influence it in Bukit Subdistrict, Bener Meriah Regency. Although Bukit Subdistrict is an avocado production center, harvest price fluctuations often cause farmers' incomes to be unstable. The study employs a quantitative approach using a survey method. The research sample consists of 30 avocado farmers in Bale Atu and Bale Redelong villages, selected through purposive sampling. Primary data was collected through interviews, while secondary data was obtained from relevant agencies, books, and journals. Data analysis was conducted using multiple linear regression. The results showed that the average income of avocado farmers was Rp 2,194,140 per production cycle, with an average total cost of Rp 2,038,094, resulting in an average farmer income of Rp 156,045.32. Simultaneously, the variables of land area, capital, and production significantly influence avocado farmers' income with an Adjusted R² value of 0.634. However, partially, land area does not significantly influence income, capital significantly influences income with a negative coefficient, while production significantly and positively influences income. These findings indicate that improving productivity and capital use efficiency are important strategies for increasing avocado farmers' income in Bukit Subdistrict.

Abstract

The study aims to determine the optimal production combination, analyze the amount of profit after optimization, and formulate a follow-up strategy to maintain business sustainability at UD Tahu Jaya Agroindustry in Suka Maju Village, West Binjai District, Binjai City. The analysis method used is Linear Programming with the simplex method and the assistance of POM-QM software for Windows. The results of the study indicate that the actual production combination of UD Tahu Jaya is not optimal. The application of the Linear Programming model produces a production combination that is able to increase business profits without additional production inputs through more efficient resource utilization. Thus, the Linear Programming method is effectively used as a decision-making tool in tofu agroindustry production planning.

Abstract

Abstract: This study was conducted to compare the growth of pepper cuttings following the application of liquid organic fertilizer (POC) through the soil and leaves. The study took place at the Experimental Field of the Faculty of Agriculture, Malikussaleh University, from May to August 2024, using a factorial Randomized Block Design (RAK). The results showed that the application technique and concentration of POC significantly affected shoot length and number of leaves in the early growth phase, but did not affect several other parameters such as the age of shoot emergence and root length. The best treatment was at a concentration of 4.5 ml/L.Keywords: Pepper, liquid, organic, cuttingsAbstrak: Penelitian dilakukan untuk menguji efektivitas pupuk organik cair NASA terhadap pertumbuhan stek tanaman lada.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the potential utilization of palm kernel shell waste as an alternative fuel to replace coal in steam power plants. The method used is a literature study with a descriptive and comparative approach based on various previous studies. The analysis was conducted by comparing energy characteristics through calorific value, electricity generation capability represented by the energy ratio, and economic aspects reflected in fuel prices and energy costs. The results show that palm kernel shells have an average calorific value of approximately 4,300 kcal/kg, which is relatively close to medium-grade coal with an average value of around 5,000 kcal/kg. In terms of electricity generation capability, the energy ratio of palm kernel shells ranges from 0.935 to 1.160 MW/ton, while coal ranges from 1.158 to 1.724 MW/ton. Although coal demonstrates relatively higher energy efficiency, palm kernel shells exhibit a significant economic advantage due to their lower fuel price, resulting in energy costs of approximately IDR 906,000–925,000 per MW, compared to coal which ranges from IDR 1,434,000–1,456,000 per MW. Therefore, palm kernel shells have strong potential as an alternative fuel that is technically feasible and more economically efficient, particularly in regions with abundant availability of palm oil waste.
