Abstract

Learning of vocational school learning should be able to prepare students who have qualified skills to fit the demands of the realistic activity of industry. Professional activities within the workplace should be integrated completed the learning process in the classroom, through pedagogical model design that facilitates learning in order to build students who have the ability to work in accordance with the demands from the industry. Development of model design has been done through collaboration models Project-based learning and PEPPER model through a mix method research. This research resulted a pedagogical syntax of learning model's tools with characteristic's industrial standard, which quantitatively tested in learning of Computer Network, so that the application of this model can improve the presumption of vocational school quality through graduate's quality.

Abstract

Abstract

Abstract

This article presents a preliminary study which was done through a literature review of various scientific references on the development of human resources through non-formal technological and vocational education. Current issues and problems in developing countries are related to the low quality of human resources in villages due to the low education and skills (technological and vocational skills). The development of non-formal technological and vocational education for village communities becomes an alternative solution, particularly when formal education does not provide solutions. With the concept of life-long learning, non-formal technological and vocational education is based on practical knowledge and skills. Non-formal education allows a learning model which addresses individuals’ learning needs. Thus, it becomes one of solutions to overcome unemployment.

Abstract

Higher learning institutions are under immense pressure to evolve within the realms of the fourth industrial revolution. Training institutions are anticipated to minimize learning costs in the face of increasing enrolments. The flipped classroom model is a suitable instructional pedagogy to achieve institutional goals considering the current ubiquitousness of information and communication technology. The systematic review was aimed at summarizing and identifying research gaps that help inform future research trajectories. The 3-step review process was composed of articles searching and retrieval, filtering and sorting, and final inclusion. Identified empirical articles were; i.) Retrieved and summarized on the basis of tittles, abstracts, methods and basic findings, ii.) Filtered and sorted on the basis of study discipline, and iii.) Synthesized on the basis of basic findings. It was found that the flipped classroom improved academic performance to a limited extent. Most articles unanimously concurred that the flipped classroom model makes learning enjoyable and enables the development of lower order cognitive skills outside class and higher order cognitive skills through F2F (face to face) active learning. The success of the model in higher education is hinged on excellent planning, implementation and evaluation.

Abstract

Tertiary learning institutions are under immense pressure to evolve within the realms of the fourth industrial revolution. The flipped classroom model externalizes in-class traditional learning and internalizes outside class activities in an attempt to move students from lower order cognitive skills to higher order cognitive skills. Training institutions are anticipated to minimize learning costs in the face of increasing enrollments. The broad aim of the study was to establish whether a flipped pedagogy would enhance performance and improve students’ perceptions over the conventional classroom pedagogy. To examine the impact of a flipped learning model, an experiment was conducted on two classes studying fundamentals of electrical engineering course. The participants were 64 pure electrical engineering students sampled from a population of 156 first year electrical engineering students. 32 students were assigned to the experimental group which was exposed to both the flipped classroom model and traditional classroom model. The remaining 32 were solely exposed to the traditional classroom pedagogy. Evaluation survey was administered on both the flipped and traditional cohort. Although students revealed positive perceptions of the flipped classroom model, empirically, there was no significant differences in academic achievements of students taught using either instructional approach. 83.87% of the flipped students were better off with a conflated instructional pedagogy as canvassed through the questionnaire survey. Educational practitioners ought to move up with the fourth industrial revolution demands by adopting a blended instructional approach.

Abstract

Entering the 21st centuries, women in engineering are still severely under-represented both in the field of education and the industrial sector. This under-representation can be seen in work environment, people behavior, entrance education and many more that are not yet exposed. Thus, this topic has become a concern and emergence for the public and academics and inspired them to conduct research in women in engineering. This research aims to provide a manual on emerging trends of women in engineering related studies using science mapping analysis method and investigate the current state of the art of women in engineering. Data collection for science mapping analysis using the Scopus database search without limitation on the year of publication regarding women in engineering. This research uses VOSViewer software as a tool to help visualize the data that had been downloaded from Scopus database. Results and discussions based on the research shows that the research publication about women in engineering for the last three decades continues to increase. Followed by the United States as the most contributed and cited country in scientific publication, then Layne P. and Bougue B. as the most contributed authors and widely quoted by other authors, for the most trustworthy sources there is Journal of Engineering Education, and based on the most quoted affiliation is Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University, then for the most discussed topic is STEM, intersectionality, and science based on co-occurrence analysis. Thus, the research can give a bigger picture of the development of women in engineering for future research
