Abstract

This study aims to provide an overview of the misconceptions of 10th-grade high school students in the Sambas district on the concept of motion during a pandemic which is an evaluation of the teaching and learning process of physics during the pandemic (Covid-19). The method used in this study is a survey method with descriptive data analysis with the subject or sample in this study of as many as 223 10th-grade students, consisting of 4 schools with cluster sampling. Based on the data analysis, it can be concluded that the students' misconceptions are still experiencing confusion. If two objects have the same position, they should have the same velocity; and if the two objects have the same velocity, the student assumed that these two objects must have the same acceleration or vice versa. However, students are able to distinguish which ones are scalar quantities and which are vector quantities. As for impetus material, students assume that if an object has a motion, it must have a force acting upon this object. This is a contradiction with newton's first law. Also, it is believed that if the object moves in a circular path, a circular (impetus) force tends to move this object in its path. The highest misconception is in the concept of kinematic about velocity-position and concept of impetus. There is no different in student misconception before and after pandemic covid-19 so that in the future it still needs to improve physisc learning process and physics teacher competence to prevention student misconception. Keywords: misconception, motion, post-covid19

Abstract

Information regarding the evaluation of reasoning skills related to online socio-scientific issues is still limited due to limited instruments. This research aims to determine the validity and reliability of an online socio-scientific issue-based critical reasoning instrument. Content validity was proven by the assessment method by five experts. Confirmatory factor analysis was carried out with the Lisrel 8.8 program to prove construct validity. Instrument testing was carried out on 145 grade 10 high school students. Convergent validity was determined through the Average Variance Extracted (AVE) calculation, and reliability was determined through Construct Reliability (CR). There are 12 items from four dimensions of critical reasoning based on online socio-scientific issues: (1) evaluating SSI information, (2) identifying SSI complexity, (3) checking the credibility of information sources, and (4) multiperspective. The results of the content validity test obtained the Aiken coefficient value in the valid category. Based on the analysis results, the GFI, RMSEA, and p-value of the instrument fit the model and have loading factors that meet the minimum criteria. In addition, the instrument meets convergent validity and internal consistency. Thus, it is concluded that the instrument is declared valid and reliable and can be used to measure critical reasoning based on online socio-scientific issues.

Abstract

Understanding three-dimensional geometry remains challenging for senior secondary students due to its abstract nature and the limitations of conventional 2D teaching media. This study aims to develop and evaluate an Augmented Reality (AR)-based SmartCard as an innovative learning tool to enhance conceptual understanding of solid geometry. Using the ADDIE research and development model, a limited trial was conducted with 34 Grade XI students from four schools in Lhokseumawe and North Aceh, Indonesia. Data were collected through a validated Likert-scale questionnaire assessing validity (appropriateness), practicality, and effectiveness, and analyzed descriptively using percentages. Results show the medium is very appropriate (90.3%), very practical (85.3%), and very effective (90.9%). Students positively responded to the interactive 3D visualizations, ease of use via personal smartphones, and improved spatial comprehension. The AR SmartCard successfully bridges the gap between abstract mathematical concepts and concrete visual experiences, supporting independent and engaging learning. The study concludes that this medium is a valid, practical, and effective tool for teaching solid geometry at the senior secondary level. This research has implications for providing low-cost alternative learning media that are able to bridge abstract mathematical concepts with concrete visual experiences, and can be widely adapted to school contexts with limited resources.
