Abstract

Kegiatan pengabdian ini bertujuan untuk memberdayakan pelaku Usaha Mikro, Kecil, dan Menengah (UMKM) di Desa Sam Sam, Kecamatan Kandis, Kabupaten Siak, Provinsi Riau melalui program digitalisasi lokasi dan pembuatan banner promosi menggunakan media Canva. Permasalahan utama yang dihadapi pelaku UMKM adalah keterbatasan kemampuan dalam membuat media promosi yang menarik serta kurangnya pemanfaatan teknologi digital untuk memperluas jangkauan pasar. Metode kegiatan meliputi tiga tahap, yaitu persiapan, pelaksanaan, dan evaluasi. Tahap pelaksanaan dilakukan melalui pelatihan pembuatan peta lokasi digital di Google Maps dan desain banner menggunakan Canva dengan pendekatan pendampingan langsung. Hasil kegiatan menunjukkan adanya peningkatan keterampilan pelaku UMKM dalam mendesain media promosi, memahami digitalisasi lokasi usaha, serta meningkatnya visibilitas usaha di platform digital. Program ini juga berdampak positif terhadap peningkatan penjualan dan kesadaran pelaku terhadap pentingnya transformasi digital dalam pengembangan usaha. Dengan demikian, kegiatan ini membuktikan bahwa pemberdayaan berbasis teknologi sederhana dapat menjadi strategi efektif untuk memperkuat daya saing UMKM lokal di era digital.

Abstract

Social engagement in rural communities continues to face challenges in building solidarity, cooperation, and active citizen participation. This study aims to analyze the role of volleyball tournaments as a medium for strengthening community social cohesion within community service activities in Sialang Sakti Village. The research employed a qualitative approach with a case study design, utilizing participatory observation, in-depth interviews, and documentation techniques. The findings indicate that volleyball tournaments are able to enhance social interaction, strengthen togetherness, and instill values of cooperation, discipline, sportsmanship, and social responsibility. However, several limitations were identified, including variations in participation levels among different age groups and the lack of program sustainability. These findings confirm that community sports function not only as recreational activities but also as important instruments for building social networks and internalizing collective values. Active community participation through such activities can serve as strategic social capital for sustainable village development. Therefore, the development of a more structured and sustainable sports-based community service model is necessary to strengthen long-term social impacts and ensure equitable involvement of all community groups.

Abstract

The purpose of this study was to determine the perceptions of Business English Communication students towards Duolingo as a medium for learning English vocabulary. This research uses a descriptive quantitative method, with a sample of 23 Business English Communication students. This study used questionnaires and interviews as data collection tools. The results of this study show that students' perceptions of Duolingo are very positive, in its use students agree that Duolingo is easy, effective, and interesting to use as a medium for learning English vocabulary. In addition, the use of Duolingo also proved to have a positive impact on their learning.
