Abstract

This study investigates the dangers of catcalling, which is harmful to women. Catcalling is a form of street sexual harassment that has a negative impact on women's mental health. The goal of this study was to see how well Universitas Pertamina students understood the dangers of catcalling. Pertamina University was chosen as the subject of the study by the author because it is only five years old and has never conducted a survey on catcalling behavior. The author employs a hybrid “explanatory sequential design.”This method was used to collect statistical data from 401 respondents. The statistical data is intended to assess students' understanding of the catcalling phenomenon. The qualitative analysis of this study discusses in the security study using the Copenhagen School Security Study conceptual framework. According to the findings of this survey, one of the most common reasons for women to become victims of catcalling is that they were described as objects (63 percent). Furthermore, 47 percent of respondents understood what catcalling behavior entails. The remainder, or approximately 42 percent of respondents, agreed that catcalling is a bothersome activity. Meanwhile, 68.8 percent of respondents said the way women dressed triggered catcalling. Another 58.9 percent said patriarchal culture was the catalyst for this behavior. The author argues that Universitas Pertamina students already knows catcalling behavior. However, the authors conclude that universities must educate students on catcalling behavior, which stems from patriarchal culture, on a regular basis.

Abstract

Security studies debated the phenomenon of "high politics," such as politics and the military, at the outset of their development. As the study's object, it discusses the arms race, nuclear war, and political coups. Following the end of the Cold War, the economic, social, and environmental sectors became subjects of study in security studies. Not only that, but security studies also address issues that are frequently overlooked, such as energy issues. This is undeniably one of the most pressing issues in security studies today. The energy issue discusses how the country's foreign policy efforts will be carried out in order to avoid the threat of domestic energy scarcity. The inclusion of energy issues in security studies does not happen overnight. Through this scientific article, the author intends to examine how energy issues can become part of security issues. The author employs the concept of securitization to examine the securitization of energy issues from the standpoint of a security study. The author used a qualitative method in this study, with secondary data collection (journals and archive documents) as part of the data collection technique. The discussion of this scientific article has resulted in the securitization of energy issues being divided into three stages. Non-securitization, politicization, and securitization are the stages. Energy issues are not considered security issues during the non-securitization stage. When the energy issue becomes politicized, it poses a real threat that the government must address. Meanwhile, security issues have defined threats in the securitization stage. However, this securitization process will only take place if the audience accepts the threat and the state takes responsibility for mitigation efforts. The author comes to the conclusion that the securitization of energy issues is mutual between the state and the audience (society).

Abstract

This study investigates the untapped potential for South-South Cooperation (SSC) between Indonesia and Timor-Leste in the development of renewable energy. While both nations are endowed with energy resources and have aligned their policies with international sustainable development goals, cooperation in renewable energy is not maximally exploited. The study aims to identify the cooperation areas in the SSC context, particularly low-carbon development, in accordance with the Nations Determined Contributions (NDCs) of both countries. With a qualitative approach, the study combined primary and secondary data, which were presented in NDC reports. The study explored both countries' current energy scenarios, renewable energy development targets, and potential cooperative endeavors. The findings illustrate immense partnership opportunities driven by common and contrasting situations. Indonesia's advanced renewable energy sector places it in a position to support Timor-Leste technically, inducing a horizontal and non-conditioned SSC model. However, regulatory divergence, state coordination issues, and differential priorities ought to be addressed through composite coordination and care in managing government authority fragments. This research highlights the necessity of utilizing SSC to enhance renewable energy initiatives in the two countries to serve the goals of global sustainable development.

Abstract

Listening skills are a fundamental component of language proficiency, particularly in higher education where critical listening plays a central role. However, these skills are often underemphasized in traditional teaching contexts, prompting educators to adopt innovative digital platforms. This study explores the implementation of Discord in a hybrid critical listening course conducted throughout a semester within the International Class Program at Maulana Malik Ibrahim State Islamic University of Malang. Grounded in the Integrative Listening Model, the research employed a descriptive qualitative design, utilizing classroom observation checklists, field notes, and Focus Group Discussions (FGDs) with 40 students. The findings indicate that at the comprehension level, the structured and timely distribution of materials through Discord channels enhanced student readiness and engagement. At the interpretation level, features such as video conferencing, breakout rooms, and audiovisual resources facilitated deeper understanding, allowing students to make inferences more effectively. At the evaluation level, real-time interaction and feedback during discussions supported critical analysis of content. Notably, student performance showed observable improvements in critical listening tasks, as reflected in increased participation rates and higher quality of responses in listening assessments. Despite occasional technical issues like unstable internet connections. The hybrid model which integrated synchronous and asynchronous learning, proved adaptable and effective. The study concludes that Discord, when aligned with a well-structured instructional design and supported by the Integrative Listening Model, can significantly promote critical listening competence in higher education. Future research may examine comparative effectiveness across different digital platforms and explore long-term impacts on listening proficiency development.
