Abstract

Agriculture is a key sector that contributes significantly to the economy of North Aceh and the Province of Aceh as a whole. As one of the agricultural centers in the region, North Aceh has great potential to increase agricultural production and improve farmers' welfare. In this context, agricultural extension workers play a strategic role as a bridge between the latest agricultural technologies and field-level farming practices. This study aims to analyze the influence of age, formal education, work experience, distance to the working area, and the number of assisted villages on the performance of agricultural extension workers. The research location was determined purposively. The data were analyzed using multiple linear regression analysis, which was applied to examine the influence of several independent variables on the dependent variable. The study was conducted from June 2025 to November 2025. The results show that the performance of agricultural extension workers at the Agricultural Extension Center (BPP) of Dewantara, North Aceh District, is categorized as high. Internal and external factors simultaneously have a significant effect on the performance of agricultural extension workers. However, only formal education and age have a significant effect, while work experience, distance to the working area, and the number of assisted villages do not have a significant partial effect on the performance of agricultural extension workers at the Agricultural Extension Center (BPP) Dewantara, North Aceh District. Abstract

The agricultural sector is always faced with risks and uncertainties that can harm farmers. Therefore, there is a need for systematic and institutionalized efforts to reduce these risks and uncertainties, namely through agricultural insurance. This study aims to analyze the factors that influence farmers' participation in the AUTP program. This study involved 60 respondents. To analyze the level of farmers' participation in AUTP program, it is calculated using Likert Summated Rating scale and to analyze the factors influencing farmers' participation in AUTP program using multiple linear analysis method. The results of the study show that the factors that influence farmers' participation in the AUTP program in Silau Rakyat Village, simultaneously all independent variables have a significant effect on the dependent variable. However, partially, only the variables of income, farming experience, AUTP information, program benefits, and frequency of crop failure have a significant effect on farmers' participation in the AUTP program, while the variables of land area, socialization, and frequency of socialization have no significant effect on farmers' participation in the AUTP program in Silau Rakyat Village.

Abstract

Flooding and climate variability pose significant challenges to rice farmers in Gampong Pulo Iboih, North Aceh, particularly through disrupted irrigation, declining land conditions, limited access to production inputs, and low adoption of climate-adaptive cultivation technologies. This community empowerment program aimed to strengthen farmers’ capacity to restore rice production through the application of adaptive cultivation technologies and participatory learning. The program was implemented through five stages: socialization and problem identification, technical training, demonstration plot development, mentoring and monitoring, and sustainability planning. Activities combined theoretical instruction with practical learning involving farmer groups, students, lecturers, and village authorities. The intervention included the application of superior rice seed, jajar legowo planting, improved land and water management, integrated pest management, and irrigation pumping, complemented by household-product processing training for women. The program resulted in increased farmer knowledge and skills in land management, superior seed utilization, jajar legowo cultivation, and irrigation management. It also produced a rice demonstration plot, a simple locally made planting tool, a functioning pumping-based irrigation system, and diversified household products. The participatory approach strengthened community ownership and created potential for sustainable adoption of the introduced innovations.
