Abstract

This research aims to (1) describe the imperative form of dialogue in the TV One News talk show episode "Immoral Actions, Motive for the Murder of Brigadier Joshua". (2) describe the meaning of the imperative in the TV One News talk show dialogue episode "immoral act as the motive for the murder of Brigadier Joshua.". The research method used is a qualitative approach, with a focus on data analysis in the form of words, phrases and imperative sentences contained in the talk show. The research results show two things, firstly, two forms of imperatives are identified, namely a structural imperative form and a non-structural imperative form. These two studies describe the nine meanings of imperatives, namely commands, requests, persilaa, requests for permission, prohibitions, hopes, suggestions, invitations and threats.

Abstract

This research aims to examine the internal and external problems faced by teachers at SMPN 13 Makassar. Internal problems include challenges or obstacles that arise within teachers in carrying out their professional duties. Meanwhile, external problems include factors outside the teacher's control that influence performance, such as frequently changing educational policy interventions, and a lack of educational facilities and resources. The research method used is qualitative, involving in-depth interviews and participatory questionnaire. he research results show that internal problems often originate from within teachers who do not fully understand the implementation of the Independent Curriculum, have difficulty compiling teaching modules, are confused about choosing learning media for students, and have difficulty determining formative assessments. Meanwhile, external problems stem from a lack of ongoing training from institutions. Recommendations from this research include increasing training and professional development for teachers, improving educational facilities, and strengthening communication and collaboration between all stakeholders in education. It is hoped that this research can provide insight for policy makers in improving the quality of education at SMPN 13 Makassar.

Abstract

This study aims to describe the politeness of Indonesian netizens' language in the 2023 comments section of the Twitter (X) accounts @aniesbaswedan, @prabowo, and @ganjarpranowo, based on Leech's politeness scales: cost-benefit scale, optionality scale, indirectness scale, authority scale, and social distance scale. The method employed in this research is a qualitative descriptive approach. Data were collected using library research, observation, and note-taking techniques. The analysis techniques used include (1) Identification, (2) Coding, (3) Classification, (4) Analysis, and (5) Discussion. The findings reveal that Indonesian netizens' digital politeness on social media Twitter (X) in 2023 is still often neglected. Out of 195 utterances analyzed, 91 were deemed polite, while 104 were impolite. On the cost-benefit scale, polite utterances involved support and prayers for the interlocutors, while impolite utterances consisted of demands or orders directed, opinions, suggestions, or feedback delivered in harsh language. On the optionality scale, many impolite utterances occurred due to the absence of options or opportunities given to the interlocutor. On the indirectness scale, numerous impolite utterances were found to insult and belittle the interlocutor. On the authority scale, polite utterances included hopes and support for the interlocutor regarding their positions. In contrast, impolite utterances consisted of harsh criticism of the performance of the interlocutor. On the social distance scale, polite utterances consisted of encouraging words, hopes, and prayers for the interlocutors, while impolite utterances used overly familiar terms that disrespected the interlocutors, slang, and harsh language.
