Abstract

This study aims to examine teachers' perceptions of the implementation of career guidance in elementary schools, specifically at GMIT 27 Mebung Elementary School, Alor Regency. The implementation of career guidance in elementary schools generally still faces various problems that hinder the achievement of objectives, such as teachers' limited understanding of the concept of early childhood career guidance, the lack of a systematic program, low parental involvement, and the absence of a dedicated guidance counselor at the elementary school level. Career guidance in elementary schools is not only an introduction to the world of work, but also contains educational values that support the development of students' potential, interests, and learning motivation from an early age. This study used a qualitative method, with a case study approach. Data collection techniques, namely participant observation and in-depth interviews to explore teachers' understanding regarding the implementation of career guidance services in the school environment. The data analysis technique used was descriptive qualitative analysis. The results of the study indicate that teachers have a positive perception of the importance of career guidance in elementary schools, although their understanding and practice are still simple and not systematically structured. Career guidance is not only provided through special services, but is also integrated into subjects and various school activities. In intracurricular activities, teachers link subject matter with career insights.  Meanwhile, in extracurricular activities such as scouting, sports, and the arts, career guidance is implemented through skills training, creativity development, and the instilling of discipline. This research contributes to strengthening the role of teachers as facilitators of career development from an early age and serves as a reference for developing career guidance programs in elementary schools, particularly in the Alor Islands region.

Abstract

This study aims to discuss guidance for students of GMIT 23 Ruilak Elementary School. The main problem is that students experience difficulties in reading, writing, and arithmetic and face challenges in social-emotional development. GMIT 23 Ruilak Elementary School students need special education services tailored to the form and level of difficulties they experience. This study uses a descriptive qualitative approach with data collection techniques in the form of observation, interviews, and documentation. The data sources used are primary and secondary data sources. The results of the study indicate that GMIT 23 Ruilak Elementary School students experience difficulties in reading, writing, and arithmetic and face challenges in social-emotional development. The causative factors include internal factors such as mild brain disorders and emotional and external factors such as heredity, negative experiences, less supportive environments, family pressure, and lack of parental attention and guidance. Although teachers have also conducted initial assessments, academic guidance, and emotional support, these efforts have not been optimal due to limited special programs and professional staff. Therefore, collaboration between schools, teachers, parents, and related parties is needed to create inclusive and adaptive learning for GMIT 23 Ruilak Elementary School students.

Abstract

Problematic behavior in children is a major challenge in education, especially at the elementary school level. Children who exhibit deviant behaviors such as disturbing peers, disobeying rules, or displaying emotional instability can disrupt the teaching and learning process and create an unconducive classroom atmosphere. This study aims to identify effective guidance approaches in addressing students' behavioral issues at school, focusing on the role of teachers, collaboration with parents, and challenges encountered in the field. The research employed a qualitative descriptive method using interviews with a single respondent, a classroom teacher. The findings indicate that personal approaches, open communication, and collaboration between schools and parents are key in managing students’ behavioral issues. Additionally, teachers play a role as mediators in uncovering students' potentials and directing them towards positive activities. However, limitations in school support and external environments remain significant challenges. Therefore, synergy among schools, families, and communities is essential in creating a learning environment that supports the holistic development of children.

Abstract

This study aims to examine the forms of guidance provided for children with learning disabilities in Grade IV at SD GMIT 05 Adang, Teluk Mutiara District, Alor Regency. The research employed a qualitative descriptive approach, with data collected through observation and interviews. The results showed that guidance was carried out through both individual and small group approaches, focusing on academic, social, and emotional aspects. Teachers utilized concrete media and gradual repetition of material to enhance students’ understanding. The guidance program also involved collaboration with parents. The impact was evident in the increased student engagement, such as greater confidence in asking questions and developing basic reading and writing skills. However, challenges remained, such as limited facilities and a lack of teacher training in handling students with special needs. Therefore, it can be concluded that appropriate guidance approaches, supported by collaboration among teachers, parents, and counselors, are essential to optimally support students’ learning development.

Abstract

Guidance for children with learning disabilities is very important in achieving educational goals. This guidance is different from children in general. This study aims to identify the existence and role of Guidance and Counseling teachers at Gideon Kalabahi Elementary School in supporting students. The research method used is a qualitative case study with a Semi-Structured interview data collection technique. The results of the study show that Gideon Kalabahi Elementary School does not yet have a Guidance and Counseling teacher, but when there is a problem regarding learning difficulties such as not being able to read, all teachers act as Guidance and Counseling teachers. And there is a program (Reading Game) that can help children with learning difficulties such as not being able to read. This finding emphasizes the importance of special attention for children who experience learning difficulties through programs that are implemented as a strategy in providing assistance to children with learning difficulties. So it is important for elementary schools to overcome problems in children. Elementary schools should have Guidance and Counseling teachers with the aim of being able to provide special assistance to children with learning difficulties (Learning disabilities), but in general at Gideon Kalabahi Elementary School when there is a problem with a child, all teachers act as Guidance and Counseling teachers. This is also a special note for the government to be able to implement Guidance and Counseling teachers for elementary schools because the reason is that skilled resources start from the basics.
