Abstract

Abstract The problem of waste is still a problem in both urban and rural areas. In Indonesia, it is known that organic waste is generated more than non-organic waste. Organic waste comes from various sectors of community activities, such as homes, restaurants, markets, hotels, and others. So that there is still a need for methods to overcome the problem of organic waste. One of the methods is bioconversion, which is a process that involves microorganisms to convert organic waste into high-value products. This study uses the help of maggot or Black Soldier Fly (BSF) to process organic waste at restaurants in Pontianak City. The use of BSF in organic waste from the rest of restaurant activities is an effort to reduce the burden of waste to the landfill. The purpose of this study was to determine the amount of waste decomposition and the quality of compost through bioconversion using BSF. The study began by collecting organic waste left over from restaurant activities and feeding BSF larvae at a variety of feeds of 10, 15, 20 g/larvae/day. Waste processing was carried out for 19 days and observed every 3 days according to the organoleptic method. The result of bioconversion of restaurant organic waste is compost, then it is tested in the laboratory and data analysis is carried out. The results showed that the quality of the compost obtained based on temperature and pH was in accordance with the compost quality standards. Physically, the compost produced by bioconversion with BSF is in accordance with SNI 19-7030-2004, which is black in color, has a fine texture and smells like soil. However, the value of organic C exceeds the quality standard, so it is necessary to process it before using it so that the carbon in the compost can comply with the quality standard. Keywords : Bioconversion, BSF Larvae, Compost, Organic waste Abstrak Persoalan sampah masih menjadi masalah perkotaan maupun pedesaan. Di Indonesia, diketahui bahwa timbulan sampah organik lebih banyak dibandingkan sampah non organik. Sampah organik berasal dari berbagai macam sektor kegiatan masyarakat, misalnya rumah, rumah makan, pasar, hotel, dan lainnya.  Sehingga masih diperlukan metode untuk mengatasi permasalahan sampah organik. Salah satu metodenya adalah biokonversi, yakni proses yang melibatkan mikroorganisme untuk mengubah sampah organik menjadi produk yang bernilai tinggi. Penelitian ini menggunakan bantuan maggot atau Black Soldier Fly (BSF) untuk mengolah sampah organik rumah makan di Kota Pontianak. Penggunaan BSF pada sampah organik dari sisa aktivitas rumah makan merupakan upaya untuk mengurangi beban sampah ke TPA. Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui  besarnya dekomposisi sampah dan kualitas kompos melalui biokonversi dengan memanfaatkan BSF. Penelitian dimulai dengan mengumpulkan sampah organik sisa aktivitas rumah makan dan memberi pakan larva BSF pada variasi pakan 10, 15, 20 g/larva/hari. Pengolahan sampah dilakukan selama 19 hari dan diamati setiap 3 hari sekali menurut metode organoleptik. Hasil biokonversi sampah organik rumah makan adalah kompos, kemudian diuji di laboratorium dan dilakukan analisis data. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa kualitas kompos yang didapat berdasarkan temperatur dan pH sudah sesuai dengan standar baku mutu kompos. Secara fisik, kompos hasil biokonversi dengan BSF sudah sesuai dengan SNI 19-7030-2004 yakni berwarna kehitaman, bertekstur halus dan berbau seperti tanah. Namun nilai C organik melebihi baku mutu, sehingga diperlukan proses pendiaman terlebih dahulu sebelum digunakan agar karbon dalam kompos dapat sesuai dengan standar baku mutu. Kata kunci : Biokonversi, Kompos, Larva BSF, Sampah organik

Abstract

Filter membrane technology is known to remove turbidity, colour and microorganisms in water. However, the stability of these parameters during storage is still being determined. This research was conducted to determine changes in pH, turbidity, and total coliform of water treated using membrane filter technology and stored at room temperature and in the refrigerator. Water stored at room temperature increases the pH more easily during storage time. On the other hand, there was no significant difference between changes in the turbidity value of water stored at room temperature and in the refrigerator. Closed storage at room temperature and refrigerators can also protect water from the growth of total coliform. Water treated using membrane filter technology is proven to be stored at room temperature or in the refrigerator without experiencing significant changes in pH, turbidity, and total coliform.

Abstract

Peningkatan jumlah hotel di Kota Pontianak memberi dampak negatif, yaitu meningkatnya timbulan limbah cair. Proses pengolahan air limbah Hotel yang banyak digunakan hotel-hotel di Pontianak khususnya di hotel Aston yang telah memiliki instalasi pengolahan limbah dengan pengolahan biologi tersuspensi. Air hasil olahannya sering kali belum memenuhi baku mutu air limbah yang boleh dibuang sesuai dengan PERMEN/ LH/ 68/ 2016 Tentang baku mutu air limbah domestik. Pada penelitian ini parameter yang diukur yaitu BOD, TSS dan pH. Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui efisiensi pengolahan limbah cair hotel Aston menggunakan reaktor tersuspensi (lumpur aktif) dalam menurunkan parameter BOD, dan TSS. Pengolahan setiap reaktor terlebih dahulu menumbuhkan mikroorganisme selama 14 hari. Lumpur aktif sebanyak 25gram diberi aerasi. Berdasarkan hasil penelitian pengolahan limbah cair hotel Aston dengan reaktor tersuspensi mampu menurunkan parameter BOD, dan TSS. Efisiensi penurunan pada reaktor tersuspensi dengan waktu terbaik 7 hari mampu menurunkan parameter BOD dari 109,81 mg/L mejadi 31,76mg/L dengan efisiensi 71,07 %, dan penurunan parameter TSS dari konsentrasi awal 78 mg/L menjadi 26,33 mg/L dan efisiensi 66,24%. Pengolahan dengan perlakuan tersuspensi dapat menurunkan parameter BOD, dan TSS pada waktu 7 hari.

Abstract

Coliform bacteria can be used as an indicator of the presence of pathogenic bacteria, such as E.coli bacteria that cause diarrhea. The aimed of this study is to determine the relationship between physical-chemical parameters namely temperature, pH, DO and BOD to the density of coliform bacteria in Jawi River, Pontianak. The sampling was conducted at one point each in the upstream, midstream and downstream area of the Jawi River during two tidal conditions of the Kapuas River in September 2016 at 09:40 (at low tide) and at 15:40 (at high tide). The correlation of physical-chemical parameter to coliform value was tested Pearson Product Moment. The results showed that coliform bacterial density increased from upstream to downstream with 150-1500 MPN/100 ml at high tide and 930-11000 MPN/100 ml at low tide. The results showed that the coliform bacterial density value had a positive relation with pH and BOD parameters and negative relation with temperature and DO parameters. So, it can be concluded that there is a correlation between physical parameters, such as temperature and chemical parameters such as pH, DO and BOD to microbiological parameters especially Coliform bacterial density. The benefit of this study is to give information about water quality of Jawi River and its correlation with density of Coliform bacterial, so that people are expected to pay more attention to the use of clean water to avoid the disease caused by coliform.

Abstract

global warming and environmental issues are being caused by the overuse of fossil fuels and increased industrialization around the world, which has resulted in the production of greenhouse gases. As a result, it's crucial to reach net-zero carbon emissions. By balancing the total quantity of carbon dioxide or other greenhouse gas emissions over a specific period and taking actions that are ecologically responsible, net zero carbon emissions can be accomplished. For environmental sustainability to be successful, it must be able to influence people's attitudes and behavior toward the environment. To understand NGOs' obligations in supporting net-zero carbon emissions, this paper presents a methodical debate utilizing NGOs as case studies. The method is employed in this work by reviewing the body of primary and secondary research on the study issue. This essay initially lists different environmental NGOs organizations before categorizing and outlining some of the significant GHGs reduction initiatives made by these organizations. This essay also addresses key issues that must be addressed upon to achieve the best outcomes. This report gives a broad overview of the synergizing domains that NGOs around the globe work in to assist improvement environmental security.

Abstract

Population growth has led to increased runoff and wastewater flowing into drainage channels. This study, therefore, aims to evaluate the drainage capacity of selected channels in Medan City and whether they can still serve the community in the next 10, 20 and 30 years. The observed channel starts from Taduan Street No. 1 to Taduan Street No. 153, with a length of 1,000 m. This evaluation considers population growth, the volume of domestic wastewater, the volume of runoff, the generation of sediment in channels, and evapotranspiration as part of the water cycle. Monthly maximum rainfall data from 2012-2021 from the BMKG Sampali Medan and population data along Taduan are used in the review in this article. Based on the investigation, it is known that the volume of drainage on Taduan Street is no longer able to serve the community even for 2032. It is necessary to review and redesign the dimensions to ensure that wastewater from household activities and runoff does not have a negative impact, especially during the rainy season. With as many as 48 injection wells and the Watershed expansion, it is expected to reduce inundation. Keywords:   Drainage channel, Domestic wastewater, Evaluation,  Medan, Rainwater

Abstract

Perjalanan dan pariwisata telah tumbuh secara signifikan dalam sepuluh tahun terakhir, menjadinya salah satu sektor ekonomi dengan pertumbuhan tercepat di tingkat global. Namun di lain sisi banyak penelitian telah menyebutkan adanya kemungkinan hubungan antara jumlah sampah yang dihasilkan di berbagai destinasi wisata dengan jumlah pengunjung. Kajian ini menjabarkan secara rinci tentang masalah yang timbul akibat sampah di sektor wisata, termasuk sumber asalnya dan potensi pengelolaannya dari apa yang sudah dipraktikan saat ini. Pihak yang mendukung kegiatan pariwisata, sampah dari para wisatawan, dan sampah dari pengelolaan pariwisata adalah beberapa sumber yang teridentifikasi dimana sampah dihasilkan yang jika pengelolaannya tidak dilakukan dengan tepat maka dapat mengancam kualitas lingkungan. Sampah plastik dapat diolah secara mekanis, kimia, atau biologis, tergantung tujuan akhirnya, budget, ketersediaan teknologi untuk pengolahan, sumber daya manusia sebagai eksekutor, dan banyak pertimbangan lainnya.

Abstract

The environmental crisis is happening today requires the attention of the global community. One approach that can be done is to apply the teachings of Islam as a whole. Belief in religion can influence people to maintain the environment. This study was conducted to determine how the environment in Islam. Scientific publications in accordance with Islamic friends in the neighborhood of indexed Dimensions analyzed by a systematic literature review (SLR). The parameters analyzed were the number of publications per year, the origin and the origin of the author's state institutions. Furthermore, the results were analyzed with the VOS Viewer software. A total of 30 relevant scientific articles selected and analyzed. Publications related to the environment in Islam increased since 2006 with some of the topics of discussion. A popular topic of research is on the management of natural resources and environment, water conservation, and climate change.

Abstract

Kualitas udara saat ini semakin menurun akibat peningkatan sumber pencemar udara oleh kegiatan manusia sehingga perlu dilakukan upaya pengendalian pencemaran udara. Kendaraan bermotor merupakan penyumbang pencemaran udara yang cukup besar. Di indonesia, prgram Car Free Day dilakukan pertama kali di surabaya tahun 2010. Tulisan ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis program Car Free Day yang dilakukan pada beberapa kota di indonesia sebagai upaya dari pemerintah untuk mengurangi pencemaran udara. Program ini juga sejalan dengan Kota Sehat. Metode yang dilakukan adalah penelitian deskriptif dengan analisa data sekunder. Kesimpulan yang dihasilkan bahwa program Car Free Day sangat efektif dilakukan untuk mengurangi pencemaran udara. Hasil pengukuran akan menjadikan advokasi kebijakan dan kampanye pentingnya mengurangi penggunaan kendaraan pribadi.   Kata-kata kunci: Car Free Day, kota sehat, pencemaran udara

Abstract

Data SIPSN tiga tahun terakhir menunjukkan timbulan sampah di Kabupaten Langkat meningkat 24,71% atau dari yang awalnya 152.099 menjadi 189.685 ton. Lebih dari 42% timbulan sampah disumbangkan oleh sektor domestik yang seharusnya dapat dikelola sedekat mungkin dari sumbernya. Dengan demikian, kegiatan pengabdian kepada masyarakat ini bertujuan memberikan pelatihan agar masyarakat lebih memahami cara mengurangi timbulan sampah dengan mengubahnya menjadi produk yang bermanfaat. Pelatihan dilaksanakan pada 5 Agustus 2021 di Rumah Komunitas Pohon Rindang, Desa Perkebunan Bukit Lawang, kepada 43 anak usia 8-15 tahun. Metode yang digunakan adalah penyuluhan interaktif dengan memberikan demonstrasi cara membuat keranjang takakura dan stringbag. Keranjang takakura 45x37x57 cm dapat menampung hingga 1,5 kg sampah organik basah per hari, sedangkan pembuatan pakaian bekas menjadi stringbag dapat menunda pembuangan material ke TPA. Dalam jangka panjang kegiatan ini diharapkan menjadi kebiasaan baru bagi masyarakat dalam mengelola sampah untuk menjadikan Desa Perkebunan Bukit Lawang sebagai desa pariwisata yang berkelanjutan.
