Abstract

This study evaluates the implementation of collaborative learning theory in high school education through a comprehensive literature review. Collaborative learning is an educational approach that encourages students to work together in groups to achieve shared learning objectives. The research aims to analyze the effectiveness of this approach in enhancing student learning outcomes, active participation, scientific attitudes, and critical thinking skills. The methodology involves the collection, selection, and analysis of relevant literature from various sources, including scientific journals, books, and research articles published between 2018 and 2023. The findings indicate that collaborative learning significantly improves students' academic performance and fosters a more interactive and dynamic learning environment. Additionally, it highlights the versatility of collaborative learning, demonstrating its applicability across various subjects, both in the sciences and humanities. The study concludes that implementing collaborative learning strategies can create a more engaging educational experience, promoting deeper understanding and motivation among students. This research underscores the importance of innovative teaching methods in enhancing educational quality and preparing students for future challenges. Overall, the study advocates for the integration of collaborative learning in high school curricula to optimize student learning experiences and outcomes.

Abstract

Misconception is a condition of different concepts that are owned by scientific concepts. Misconceptions impact learning processes and outcomes, so teachers need to make reductions. The first step to reduce misconceptions is to find the data on students’ misconceptions. This study aims to diagnose high school students’ misconceptions about ecosystems. The survey method research used a three-level multiple-choice test to diagnose ecosystem misconceptions. The research sample were 200 high school students from five high schools in Jakarta, Indonesia. The sample from each school were 40 students. The results showed that students’ understanding of concepts was spread over six levels: understanding concepts, false positive misconceptions, false negative misconceptions, misconceptions, guessing or understanding concepts but lacking confidence, and not understanding concepts with a misconception percentage of 21.41%. Based on the analysis of the ecosystem sub-concept, the highest misconception occurred in the energy flow sub-concept (25.39%) and the second highest in the biogeochemical cycle sub-concept (20.41%). Teachers can use the findings as a basis for designing effective learning to reduce misconceptions so that optimal learning processes and results can be achieved.

Abstract

Pandemi covid yang melanda dunia termasuk negara Indonesia mengibatkan perubahan dalam semua sisi kehidupan. Kondisi pandemi ini menjadi saat yang tepat bagi guru untuk dapat memanfaatkan teknologi dalam proses pembelajaran sesuai tuntutan guru abad 21. Kenyataan yang ditemukan berdasarkan survey dan diskusi yang dilakukan pada kabupaten Bekasi kemampuan guru dalam penerapan teknologi secara optimal belum merata. Banyak guru yang kesulitan untuk mendesain pembelajaran yang mesti berlangsung secara daring. Guru kesulitan untuk memberikan tugas yang menuntun, kesulitan menyiapkan sumber belajar yang membelajarkan sehingga kemandirian siswa dalam belajar belum terkondisikan. Solusi yang ditawarkan adalah kegiatan berupa seri webinar. Kegiatan Webinar series dilaksanakan tanggal 2-28 Agustus 2021. Peserta kegiatan adalah guru-guru IPA di Kabupaten Bekasi yang tergabung dalam MGMP. Kegiatan ini menargetkan luaran berupa peningkatan pengetahuan peserta tentang sumber belajar berbasis teknologi, peningkatan literasi teknologi serta peningkatan motivasi peserta dalam pengembangan sumber belajar berbasis teknologi dapat tercapai dilihat dari hasil pretes dan postes. Ketercapaian target juga dapat terlihat dari antusias peserta saat tanya jawab dan dari contoh produk yang mereka kembangkan.

Abstract

Background: Semua lapisan masyarakat harus ikut berperan aktifdalam mengelola produk sisa makhluk hidup. Siswa SMA sebagai bagian dari masyarakat juga harus terlibat   aktif dalam mengatasi permasalahan lingkungan. Kegiatan bertujuan untuk peningkatkan kepedulian, peran aktif dan membudayakan prilaku peduli lingkungan siswa dalam mengatasi persoalan lingkungan terutama tentang limbah/sampah. Metode: Kegiatan diikuti oleh 31 siswa sebagai perwakilan dari beberapa SMA di Kabupaten Bekasi yang diawali pretest unt mengetahui kemampuan awal peserta, dilajutkan dengan pemaparan materi serta praktek pembuatan pupuk organik cair. Kegiatan diakhiri dengan posttest untuk mengetahui peningkatan pemahaman dan keterampilan peserta. Hasil: Berdasarkan data hasil pretest dan posttest didapatkan bahwa terjadi peningkatan skor dari 6,43 menjadi 8,56. Terjadi peningkatan skor sebesar 2,13 yang merupakan meningkatan cukup baik. Peningkatan skor juga terjadi pada setiap target luaran yang meliputi peningkatan pemahaman, ketrampilan serta motivasi dengan rentangan peningkatan skor dari 0.97-3,38. Kesimpulan: Terjadi peningkatan pemahan siswa tentang masalah lingkungan tentang pupuk organik cair dan keterampilan siswa dalam membuat pupuk organik cair serta  motivasi siswa untuk mengolah limbah menjadi pupuk organik cair.

Abstract

Environmentally friendly is one of the behaviors that need to be instilled from an early age. Instilling behavior can be done through education. The activity aims to improve students' knowledge, skills and environmentally friendly behavior. Educational activity and training were attended by 30 students of Cisaat Elementary School. Participants participated in the activity with enthusiasm as seen from their activities during the presentation of the material and practical activities. This educational activity succeeded in increasing students' knowledge, skills and motivation in implementing environmentally friendly behavior. With the increase in knowledge, skills and motivation in implementing environmentally friendly behavior, it is hoped that elementary school students can contribute to overcoming environmental problems according to their capacity. Environmentally friendly behavior is expected to become a culture and a habit that lasts into adulthood. Students who have participated in the activity are expected to be able to pass on their abilities to other students. The program is expected to continue, so that this education can reach all levels of society.

Abstract

The implementation of biology learning in the field encounters numerous challenges. Specifically on genetic substance material, students experience learning difficulties due to abstract, interdisciplinary concepts and difficulties in understanding textbooks. This problem can be overcome one way by using learning media. Under current learning demands, technology-based media is appropriate to use. Augmented Reality (AR) based media is one option. The accessibility of augmented reality-based media remains limited, especially for genetic substance material, despite the necessity for media capable of visualizing its complex and abstract characteristics. The results of the needs analysis for teachers and students also show that AR-based media is needed in genetic substance learning. The use of AR media is very possible because of the support of adequate infrastructure. Teachers and students also expressed their willingness to use AR media in learning. Based on the research results, it can be concluded that AR-based biology learning media on Genetic Substance material is urgent to be developed. This media will be able to enrich the variety of biology learning media and become one of the solutions to overcome problems in biology learning, especially genetic substance material.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the effectiveness of using the ARSINAPS mobile augmented reality application on learning motivation and outcomes in high school and biology education students. The method used in this study was quasi-experimental with a post-test control group design. The research sample consisted of two experimental classes and two control classes from three schools in the Jakarta, Bekasi, and Tangerang areas, totalling 140 students, and from the college level, consisting of one experimental class and one control class, totalling 68 students. The data obtained were in the form of learning outcomes in the respiratory system and learning motivation scores in biology learning. The average high school-level motivation score in the control class was 85.99, and the overall average for learning outcomes was 77.33 and 63.05. Based on the results of the data calculations, the application effectively improves students’ learning outcomes at the high school and undergraduate levels

Abstract

Background: The development of technology in education and teaching requires teachers to have skills in making and using technology as a learning medium, learning resource or learning supplement. ARSINAPS is an Augmented Reality learning media based on the android system that has been developed in order to help teachers to be able to visualize the structure of the tissues that make up the respiratory system with three-dimensional objects. The skill of using digital media for teachers certainly needs to start with workshop activities and socialization of digital learning media.Thus, in order to improve the skills of using digital media, this P2M activity was carried out by introducing ARSINAPS as an AR learning supplement product and also providing training to be able to make AR media simply. Method: The training was attended by 20 biology teachers from MGMP Bekasi district, West Java and the implementation of the activity was carried out at SIT Ulil Albab, Bekasi. Results: Skills in using digital media as a medium and learning supplement increased after the introduction and training on making Android-based Augmented Reality media. The average N-Gain score is 7.13 and is in the high category. Conclusion: Teachers are motivated and can already use Augmented Reality-based learning media as a supplement to learning in schools.

Abstract

Critical thinking has become a competency standard for primary and secondary education graduates. However, the quality of critical thinking among Indonesian students remains relatively low. Efforts are needed to enhance students' critical thinking skills. One such effort is implementing the problem-based learning (PBL) model assisted by hypercontent e-books based on cognitive conflict. This study aims to determine the effectiveness of the PBL model assisted by hypercontent e-books based on cognitive conflict in improving students' critical thinking abilities. The research uses a quasi-experimental method and was conducted at a high school in Jakarta. The sample consisted of 64 students, with 32 students in the experimental group and 32 students in the control group. The sample was selected using multistage random sampling. The results of the study show a significant improvement in critical thinking skills in the experimental group compared to the control group, with an average N-Gain of 0.61 for the experimental class, which is higher than the control class (0.45), with the effectiveness of learning falling within a range of 0.30-0.70, which is categorized as moderate. These results indicate the effectiveness of the PBL model assisted by hypercontent e-books based on cognitive conflict in enhancing students' critical thinking skills. The use of the PBL model assisted by hypercontent e-books based on cognitive conflict can be an innovative alternative in learning to improve students' critical thinking abilities.

Abstract

This research aims to determine the effect of the Learning Cycle 7E model on the problem-solving skills of junior high school students in the context of ecology and biodiversity in Indonesia. The research method used is a quasi-experimental design with a pretest-posttest nonequivalent control group design. The research sample consists of 64 students from Junior High School in East Jakarta, with each class comprising 32 students selected through simple random sampling. Based on the hypothesis test using the independent sample t-test, there is an effect of the Learning Cycle 7E model on the problem-solving skills of junior high school students in the context of ecology and biodiversity in Indonesia. The results of this study imply that the Learning Cycle 7E model can be an alternative for enhancing students' problem-solving skills in the context of ecology and biodiversity in Indonesia.
