Abstract

Indonesia menjadi salah satu negara yang memanfaatkan tanaman sebagai obat alternatif untuk menangani penyakit yang diderita masyarakat. Daun benalu jeruk nipis banyak mengandung senyawa aktif yang dapat menjadi antibakteri. Tujuan penelitian adalah menguji aktivitas antibakteri fraksi dan senyawa aktif daun benalu jeruk nipis (Dendrophtoe petandra (L.)Miq.) terhadap bakteri Staphylococcus aureus dan Escherichia coli. Penelitian ini menggunakan sel bakteri Staphylococcus aureus dan Escherichia coli sebagai objek dan menggunakan beberapa konsentrasi dari fraksi nheksan benalu jeruk nipis. Penelitian menerapkan metode eksperimental laboratorium secara in vitro yang bersifat eksploratif analitik melalui teknik fraksinasi cair-cair (FCC) dengan pelarut n-heksan, etil asetat dan metanol yang diuapkan menggunakan Rotary evaporator dan teknik pengeringan menggunakan hair dryer. Skrining fitokimia bertahap dilakukan untuk mengidentifikasi flavonoid, alkaloid, saponin, tanin, terpenoid, steroid, dan triterpenoid yang ditandai adanya busa dan terbentuknya cincin berwarna. Hasil menunjukkan bahwa berat fraksi yang diperoleh menggunakan pelarut n-Heksan = 1,32 gram (3,38%), etil asetat = 32,76 gram (83,94%), dan etanol air = 4,95 gram (12,68%). Hasil uji skrining fitokimia diperoleh pada ekstrak (4 senyawa kimia), fraksi n-heksan (2 senyawa), fraksi etil asetat (4 senyawa) dan fraksi etanol air (2 senyawa kimia). Hasil uji aktivitas antibakteri diperoleh diameter zona hambat fraksi n-Heksan pada E.coli (9,25±1,15) dan S.aureus (9,41±0,52); etil asetat pada E.coli (10,67±1,15) dan S.aureus (10,33±0,52). Hasil uji konsentrasi hambat minimum fraksi n-Heksan 80.000 ug/ml pada E.coli (12,33±0,95) dan S.aureus (12,75±0,52), dan 625 ug/ml pada E.coli (7,29±0,18) dan S.aureus (0,00±0,00).

Abstract

Neck pain is one of the musculoskeletal disorders reported globally, with a fairly high number of incidences. In Indonesia, the incidence of neck pain reaches 46.5%, with symptoms of pain episodes that increase and recur. Neck pain can be caused by several factors, one of which is sedentary activity, such as the duration of sitting every day. The duration of sitting, which is part of the ergonomic factor, causes the body to maintain stative muscle tension for a long time. This study aims to analyze the relationship between sitting duration and the incidence of neck pain in medical students at Sriwijaya University. The method used is observational analysis with a cross-section approach. The number of samples in the study was 63 medical students, which were taken using a simple random technique. The instruments used in data collection were the sitting duration questionnaire and the Nordic Musculoskseletal Questionnaire (NMQ). The data was analyzed using the Chi-square test with a significance level of p = 0.05. The results showed that the distribution of neck pain incidence in this study was 60.3% and the duration of sitting was high, which was above 8 hours per day, reaching 55.6%. The results of the study also showed that there was a significant relationship between the duration of sitting and the incidence of neck pain in medical students at Sriwijaya University (p = 0.01). So, it can be concluded that sitting static for more than 8 hours per day can cause pain in the neck muscles.

Abstract

Penelitian eksperimen yang menggunakan intervensi diet pada tikus putih (Rattus norvegicus) terus mengalami peningkatan. Bentuk penelitian intervensi diet yang saat ini sering dilakukan adalah diet vegetarian. Penggunaan pelet standar dalam penelitian yang menerapkan diet telah banyak dilakukan, namun pengembangan pelet berbasis nabati masih belum dilakukan di Indonesia. Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk menganalisis efektivitas pelet nabati yang dikembangkan melalui pengukuran bobot tubuh tikus putih. Metode yang diterapkan dalam penelitian ini adalah deskriptif dengan desain eksperimen laboratorium. Jumlah pelet nabati yang dikembangkan adalah tiga, yaitu pelet untuk diet vegetarian tipe quasi, lacto-ovo dan vegan. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa pada kandungan proksimat pelet yang dianalisis, persentase karbohidrat tertinggi ditemukan pada pelet diet vegetarian tipe quasi. Kandungan persentase protein dan lemak tertinggi masing-masing ditemukan pada pelet diet vegan dan quasi. Sedangkan pelet diet lacto-ovo menunjukkan persentase kandungan air yang paling tinggi. Hasil intervensi ketiga bentuk pelet yang diberikan pada tikus putih menunjukkan penambahan bobot tubuh setiap minggu penelitian. Hasil juga menunjukkan bahwa pelet untuk tipe diet lacto-ovo memberi pengaruh yang paling tinggi terhadap peningkatan bobot tubuh tikus putih dibandingkan pelet diet lainnya. Pelet berbasis nabati efektif digunakan sebagai pakan alternatif dalam penelitian intervensi diet vegetarian pada tikus putih.

Abstract

Insomnia is a complaint in terms of difficulty initiating or maintaining or restorative sleep that lasts at least one month and causes impairment in individual functioning. Adolescent poor sleep patterns can also be caused by the use of electronic media (television, laptop, gadgets, computers, etc.) for a long duration, migraine, and smoking. The impact of sleep deprivation on adolescents can lead to decreased school academic performance, increased absenteeism, depression and traffic accidents. This community service activity is in the form of counseling and education about the cause of insomnia, the adverse effects that can occur, and efforts to prevent insomnia, promotive actions that can be taken, and assistance for independent sleep analysis and early detection so that insomnia disorders do not develop into worse types and cause other diseases through material presentation and discussion session. About 30 students of SMP IT Bina Ilmi Palembang have received benefits and solutions in the form of educational information about the cause, impact and preventive measures that can be taken to reduce the risk of insomnia which increases during the Covid-19 epidemic.

Abstract

Carpal tunnel syndrome is a musculoskeletal disorder of the wrist caused by pressure on the median nerve as it passes through the carpal tunnel, resulting in symptoms such as pain, tingling, and numbness. One of the jobs that is at risk of causing CTS complaints is online motorcycle taxi drivers because the awkward posture of the wrist while driving can increase the occurrence of CTS. This research aims to determine there is a relationship between awkward wrist posture and Carpal Tunnel Syndrome based on the Boston Carpal Tunnel Questionnaire (BCTQ) in online motorcycle taxi drivers in Palembang City. This research used a cross sectional method. The data obtained is primary data obtained from interviews using the Boston Carpal Tunnel Questionnaire (BCTQ) to see Carpal Tunnel Syndrome, and Rapid Upper Limb Assessment (RULA) to measure awkward wrist posture. There is no significant relationship between awkward wrist posture (p=0.487) age (p=0.757), length of service (p=0.928), duration of work (p=0.761) with Carpal Tunnel Syndrome based on the Boston Carpal Tunnel Questionnaire (BCTQ). While BMI has a significant relationship (p=0.043) with Carpal Tunnel Syndrome based on the Boston Carpal Tunnel Questionnaire (BCTQ). The conclusion is there is no significant relationship between awkward wrist posture and Carpal Tunnel Syndrome based on the Boston Carpal Tunnel Questionnaire (BCTQ) in online motorcycle taxi drivers in Palembang City.

Abstract

Computer Vision Syndrome (CVS) is a group of eye and vision problems caused by long-term use of visual electronics. Since the COVID-19 pandemic, the use of digital devices has increased, resulting in increased ease of exposure to CVS which is feared to disrupt sleep quality. This study aimed to determine the relationship between sleep quality and CVS among adolescents during the COVID-19 pandemic. This research is an observational analytic study with a cross-sectional design using primary data. Data were taken through a questionnaire with a sample of 96 adolescents who met the inclusion and exclusion criteria. Data analysis was carried out with the Chi-Square test. In this study, the results showed that the quality of sleep in adolescents had a prevalence of 59,4% as well as the prevalence of adolescents diagnosed with CVS by 56,3%. There is a statistically significant relationship between sleep quality and CVS with a p-value of 0,001. There is a high prevalence of poor sleep quality and CVS among adolescents. CVS is significantly related to sleep quality.  The implication of this result is that can impact academic performance and exacerbate the symptoms of CVS, such as eye strain, blurred vision and headaches

Abstract

Pendahuluan: Gangguan muskuloskeletal semakin mendapat perhatian untuk diteliti karena dampaknya yang dapat mempengaruhi kesehatan fisik maupun mental. Pola makan sehari-hari telah menjadi salah satu faktor terbesar yang menentukan kondisi kesehatan sistem muskuloskeletal, salah satunya pola makan tinggi indeks glikemik (IG). Makanan IG tinggi menyebabkan lonjakan cepat kadar glukosa darah dan insulin yang terlibat sebagai pemicu peradangan kronis dan stres oksidatif yang merupakan kontributor patofisiologi gangguan muskuloskeletal. Tinjauan ini bertujuan untuk mensintesis bukti yang menghubungkan diet IG tinggi dengan perkembangan dan eksaserbasi masalah muskuloskeletal. Metode: Artikel dikumpulkan dengan menggunakan mesin pencari seperti Google Scholar, Pubmed, Medscape, dan Science Direct yang diterbitkan pada tahun 2003-2024. Hasil: Mengurangi diet IG dan beban glikemik (BG) dapat meringankan gejala dan meningkatkan hasil fungsional pada pasien dengan gangguan muskuloskeletal. Misalnya, diet rendah IG telah dikaitkan dengan pengurangan rasa sakit serta peningkatan kualitas hidup penderita dengan gangguan muskuloskeletal. Kesimpulan: Diet IG tinggi terbukti merupakan faktor risiko signifikan yang dapat dimodifikasi untuk pencegahan perkembangan gangguan muskuloskeletal. Strategi kesehatan masyarakat yang mempromosikan pola makan rendah IG berpotensi mengurangi gejala gangguan ini dan meningkatkan kualitas hidup penderita. Terlepas dari temuan ini, beberapa penelitian longitudinal dan intervensional diperlukan untuk menetapkan hubungan sebab akibat dan lebih memahami mekanisme molekuler yang terlibat.

Abstract

Low Back Pain (LBP) merupakan gejala berupa nyeri pada pinggang bawah yang berlokasi di bawah tulang rusuk. Nyeri ini banyak dialami oleh pengemudi ojek online yang timbul dari kebiasaan berkendara. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis hubungan indeks massa tubuh dan durasi berkendara dengan kejadian LBP pada pengemudi ojek online Kota Palembang. Penelitian ini menerapkan pendekatan analitik observasional dengan desain cross-sectional. Sampel penelitian diambil dari populasi pengemudi ojek online di Kota Palembang melalui Teknik purposive sampling. Total sampel dalam penelitian yang telah memenuhi kriteria inklusi dan eksklusi berjumlah 55 responden. Pengukuran indeks massa tubuh (IMT) dilakukan dengan membagi nilai berat badan terhadap tinggi badan kuadrat. Sedangkan durasi berkendara dan kejadian LBP responden diukur melalui teknik wawancara. Hasil uji statistik Chi-square menunjukkan terdapat hubungan yang signifikan antara IMT dengan kejadian LBP (p = 0,025) dan hubungan antara durasi berkendara dengan kejadian LBP (p = 0,042).  Pengemudi ojek online yang IMT > 25 kg/m2 dan mengemudi lebih dari 7 jam/ hari lebih cenderung menderita kejadian LBP

Abstract

Background: Brachytherapy is a radiation therapy that can deliver radiation to cancer by minimizing radiation exposure to adjacent organs or tissues. In its implementation, brachytherapy can cause pain so that adequate anesthesia is needed in order to get optimal results. This study was aimed to determine the adequacy of anesthesia and complications that occur in gynecological cancer patients undergoing brachytherapy with spinal anesthesia.Methods: A descriptive observational study using primary data that taken by interviewing the patients who underwent gynecological brachytherapy under spinal anesthesia at dr. Mohammad Hoesin Palembang. The number of samples in this study that met the inclusion criteria was 18 subjects. Pain was assessed using an 11-point numeric rating scale. Data were collected in 5 different times, before procedure, during applicator insertion, during radiation process, during applicator removal, and 4 hours after brachytherapy. in addition, all complications that occurred during the procedure were recorded. Data were analyzed to describe the mean, median, minimum, and maximum of pain scores.Result: The average pain score before brachytherapy was 0.78, at the time of applicator insertion was 0, 0.28 at irradiation, 0,11 at removal of the applicator and 1.33 after the brachytherapy procedure. The most common complications were back pain (27.8%) and urinary retention (27.8%).Conclusion: For most patients, high dose rate (HDR) brachytherapy under spinal anesthesia was well tolerated, in fact most patients experienced no pain and no significant life-threatening complications. The post-brachytherapy pain score had the highest average score. Then, back pain and urinary retention were the most common complications.

Abstract

Chronic musculoskeletal pain is a widespread condition that impacts quality of life and poses significant health care challenges. Recent research shows that dietary factors, especially the consumption of high glycemic index (GI) foods, play an important role in exacerbating musculoskeletal pain through metabolic and inflammatory pathways. High GI foods cause a rapid spike in blood glucose, which causes increased production of reactive oxygen species (ROS) resulting in oxidative stress. Oxidative stress disrupts normal cellular function, increases the production of pro-inflammatory cytokines, and exacerbates chronic inflammation, a major driver of musculoskeletal pain. This review discusses the mechanisms by which high GI foods increase oxidative stress and contribute to the onset and persistence of chronic musculoskeletal pain and discusses oxidative damage increasing degradation of musculoskeletal tissue, delaying recovery, and worsening pain perception. Previous studies linking high GI diets to increased oxidative stress and the incidence of musculoskeletal pain provide evidence of the potential for dietary modification as a non-invasive therapeutic strategy. In conclusion, reducing foods with a high glycemic index and adopting a diet rich in antioxidants and low glycemic index to reduce oxidative stress and inflammation is very necessary. Understanding the impact of diet on oxidative stress offers a promising avenue for the prevention and treatment of chronic musculoskeletal pain. Further research is needed to strengthen this association and develop targeted dietary interventions for CMP patients.
