Abstract

The problem of limited energy and high household electricity consumption in Indonesia encourages the importance of implementing energy-efficient lighting technology. The still high use of energy-wasting incandescent lamps indicates the low energy literacy of the community in choosing efficient types of lamps. This study aims to analyze and compare the energy efficiency of three generations of lamp technology, namely incandescent lamps, compact fluorescent lamps (CFLs), and LED lamps, with an experimental approach. Testing was carried out using a wattmeter, lux meter, and infrared thermometer in a closed room with controlled conditions. Each type of lamp was tested with a light output equivalent to ±800 lumens. The test results showed that LED lamps had the lowest power consumption of 10 watts with the highest efficiency of 80 lumens per watt and a surface temperature of 45°C. CFLs have a power consumption of 15 watts with an efficiency of 53.3 lumens per watt and a temperature of 70°C. Meanwhile, incandescent lamps consume 60 watts with an efficiency of only 13.3 lumens per watt and a surface temperature of 120°C. Simulation of household use shows that the use of LEDs can save electricity costs of up to 112,500 rupiah per month compared to incandescent lamps. The results of this study provide empirical evidence that LEDs are the most efficient lighting solution in terms of energy, cost, and safety of use for the household sector.

Abstract

Biannual preventive-maintenance results (2022 & 2024) for the 150 kV Tanjung Pura line bay circuit breaker at Pangkalan Brandan Substation confirm reliable performance. Offline tests with Kyoritsu 3125 (5 kV) and ISA CBA-2000/Megger evaluated insulation resistance, contact resistance, operating time and contact synchronization against SPLN 52-1:1984, KEPDIR 0520-2.K/DIR/2014 and OEM limits (≤120 % FAT, ≤120 ms for 150 kV). Insulation far exceeded 1 MΩ/kV: 315–428 GΩ (62 600–85 600 MΩ/kV) in 2022 and 181–190 GΩ (36 200–38 000 MΩ/kV) in 2024; the drop is within safe bounds and linked to instrument variance and insulator surface condition. Contact resistance stayed low at 36.0–38.7 µΩ (<40 µΩ), although resistive loss rose from 0.13–0.139 W to 0.435–0.468 W due to higher load current. Opening time was 37.3–38.9 ms and closing time 68.2–72.6 ms, both compliant. Contact synchronization measured 0.3–0.8 ms open and 3–3.4 ms close, well below the 10 ms limit. The breaker is operationally healthy. Recommendations: periodic instrument calibration, pre-test insulator cleaning, strict adherence to SOPs and safety standards, and improved crew coordination for future consistency and safety.

Abstract

The three-phase induction motor stands as the predominant choice in industrial applications due to its numerous benefits. To optimize its performance, maintaining the integrity of the motor's power supply is essential. A significant factor influencing power quality is the load applied to the motor. This research focuses on analyzing and calculating the power consumption of a three-phase induction motor under varying control valve opening conditions, ranging from 10% to 100%. The motor under study operates as a pump driver, facilitating the transfer of sweet water in the fatty acid production facility at PT Unilever Oleochemical Indonesia. Key parameters examined include variations in current, power factor, and input power. Findings indicate that when the valve opening varies from 10% to 100%, the motor’s power output reaches up to 106% of its rated capacity at full valve opening. Conversely, at the minimum valve opening, the motor’s efficiency drops to 67.9% relative to its nominal power.

Abstract

Solar Power Plant is a power generation system that uses solar energy to generate electricity. PLTS components consist of solar panels, solar charger controller, battery and inverter. Solar panels are used to convert solar energy into DC electrical energy. The solar charger controller functions to regulate the voltage value distributed to the battery. The battery is used to store electrical power and the inverter is used to convert DC current to AC. In its use, the components installed on the PLTS need to know the efficiency percentage so that the amount of electrical energy utilization that can be generated can be known. This study aims to analyze the efficiency of electrical energy generation produced by solar panels with a capacity of 250 WP and a 2000 W inverter. Tests were carried out 5 times within a 5-hour time span (10:00 WIB – 14:00 WIB) using a 350 W Water Pump load. The test results showed that the solar panels were able to produce an average power of 76.39 W, with the largest power reaching 86.55 W. The calculated solar panel efficiency was 15.13%. The battery efficiency, based on the highest power measured, reached 0.80%. The inverter's power output varied, averaging 919.6 watts, with the highest output reaching 935 watts.

Abstract

The stability of a three-phase power supply is crucial for ensuring the reliable operation of photography studio equipment, which is generally sensitive to electrical disturbances. One common disturbance is phase failure, which can cause equipment damage, reduced work quality, and safety risks. This study aims to analyze and implement a microcontroller-based phase failure detector system capable of detecting abnormal conditions in a photography studio's electrical system quickly and accurately. The system is designed using an ATmega328P microcontroller integrated with voltage sensors on each phase. When one of the phases fails, the system will provide a warning via a buzzer and LED indicator, and can optionally disconnect the load to prevent further damage. Test results show that this detector is capable of detecting the loss of a phase in less than 1 second with an accuracy level of XX% (adjusted based on the results). Thus, this system can improve protection for studio equipment and support more reliable operations.

Abstract

This study aims to untangle the influence of fossil energy dependence on national energy security in Indonesia. Using a qualitative descriptive approach and literature study as data collection methods, this study examines the actual conditions of the national energy mix, the challenges of the energy transition, and its impact on four dimensions of energy security: availability, accessibility, affordability, and affordability. The results of the study indicate that the dominance of fossil energy in the national energy system causes energy supply vulnerability, distribution inequality, burdens due to fiscal subsidies, and increased carbon emissions. On the other hand, the government's commitment to increasing the portion of renewable energy has not been optimally achieved. Therefore, a more progressive and integrated energy transition strategy is needed to strengthen national energy security. This study contributes as a basis for analyzing more sustainable energy policies in the future.
