Abstract

Power system stability is a critical factor in maintaining the continuity and quality of energy supply, especially in transmission systems that face load fluctuations and integration of renewable energy sources. The main problems in this study are voltage instability and reactive power oscillations that often occur due to disturbances such as sudden load changes or short circuits, as well as the limited capacity of conventional controllers in reducing these impacts. This study aims to explore the role of Static VAR Compensator (SVC) as part of Flexible AC Transmission Systems (FACTS) technology in improving transmission system stability through a qualitative approach. The research method is carried out with descriptive analysis based on literature studies, mathematical modeling of the power system, and numerical simulations to understand the dynamics of the system response to disturbances. The focus is given to qualitative evaluation of the interaction between SVC, system parameters (voltage, reactive power, and phase angle), and the impact of controller placement on network reliability. Simulation case studies cover small to large disturbance scenarios to assess the effectiveness of SVC in restoring stability. The results show that SVC integration makes a significant contribution to improving the dynamic stability of the transmission system. Qualitative analysis finds that SVC is able to reduce voltage oscillations and accelerate post-disturbance system recovery through adaptive reactive power regulation. However, the limited capacity of SVC in handling extreme disturbances indicates the need for combination with other FACTS controllers (such as STATCOM or UPFC) for more complex systems. This study also reveals the importance of proper SVC placement strategy to optimize its effectiveness.

Abstract

Measuring and Limiting Devices (APP) or kWh meters have a very significant role in securing PT.PLN (Persero) income. kWh Meter acts as a transaction point between PT.PLN (Persero) as a producer and customers as consumers, therefore the accuracy of the kWh Meter in measuring energy consumption used by customers plays an important role as company income, because from all PT.PLN (Persero) business processes from generation, transmission, to distribution, only energy measured in the customer's kWh Meter will be the electricity bill that must be paid by the customer as a consumer to PT.PLN (Persero) as a producer. To obtain real measurement results with good quality, consistent preparation and evaluation are needed in its implementation, if not implemented properly it will result in losses for the company in the form of losses caused by the kWh Meter being jammed or damaged and still installed at the customer's transaction point. Therefore, APP must be managed properly and correctly by competent and highly dedicated officers. APP maintenance is carried out with the aim of avoiding measurement discrepancies by APP which ultimately cause excess or shortage of bills.

Abstract

In the modern industrial world, conveyor systems are important components that support the efficiency and sustainability of the production process. The use of induction motors as conveyor drives has become the main choice because of its durability, energy efficiency, and relatively low operational costs. This study aims to analyze the performance of induction motors, especially three-phase induction motors, in belt conveyor systems in industrial environments. The method used is a quantitative descriptive approach by analyzing technical parameters such as motor power, efficiency, power factor, torque, and operational and maintenance data. The results of the study show that a three-phase induction motor with a power of 1.5 kW provides more stable and efficient performance than a single-phase motor of 0.75 kW, both in terms of energy consumption, torque efficiency, and operational efficiency. The efficiency of the three-phase motor is recorded at 88% with energy consumption of ±85 kWh per month in a work cycle of ±200 hours. With a maximum torque of 6.0 Nm, the motor is able to overcome inertia loads optimally. It is concluded that the selection of three-phase induction motors that are in accordance with the needs of the conveyor system can improve energy efficiency and extend the operational life of industrial equipment.

Abstract

The problem of limited energy and high household electricity consumption in Indonesia encourages the importance of implementing energy-efficient lighting technology. The still high use of energy-wasting incandescent lamps indicates the low energy literacy of the community in choosing efficient types of lamps. This study aims to analyze and compare the energy efficiency of three generations of lamp technology, namely incandescent lamps, compact fluorescent lamps (CFLs), and LED lamps, with an experimental approach. Testing was carried out using a wattmeter, lux meter, and infrared thermometer in a closed room with controlled conditions. Each type of lamp was tested with a light output equivalent to ±800 lumens. The test results showed that LED lamps had the lowest power consumption of 10 watts with the highest efficiency of 80 lumens per watt and a surface temperature of 45°C. CFLs have a power consumption of 15 watts with an efficiency of 53.3 lumens per watt and a temperature of 70°C. Meanwhile, incandescent lamps consume 60 watts with an efficiency of only 13.3 lumens per watt and a surface temperature of 120°C. Simulation of household use shows that the use of LEDs can save electricity costs of up to 112,500 rupiah per month compared to incandescent lamps. The results of this study provide empirical evidence that LEDs are the most efficient lighting solution in terms of energy, cost, and safety of use for the household sector.
