Abstract

This study aims to assess the economic value of the Mangrove Edupark ecotourism area in Semarang City through an economic valuation approach. This study uses the travel cost method and the contingent valuation approach to measure the amount of willingness to pay (WTP) of visitors for the sustainability of the mangrove ecosystem. A survey was conducted on 35 respondents who had met certain criteria, and the results of the regression analysis showed that the number of visits, travel costs, income, and distance from home had a significant effect on WTP. On the other hand, the age variable did not have a significant impact. The results showed that the average WTP of respondents reached IDR 4,742.86 per individual, with a total value of IDR 166,000. This finding shows that there is public concern for environmental sustainability as well as support for the development of conservation-based tourism. Therefore, the results of this study can be used as a basis for formulating strategic policies for the management of sustainable mangrove ecotourism areas, as well as increasing community involvement in coastal conservation efforts.

Abstract

Doom Spending has become an increasingly prevalent phenomenon among Generation Z, particularly as an emotional coping mechanism for stress and anxiety about the future. This study aims to analyze the influence of income, social media, and lifestyle on Doom Spending behavior among Generation Z in Tegal City. This research employs a quantitative approach using a survey method, where data were collected through questionnaires distributed to 384 respondents. Data analysis was conducted using the Partial Least Squares-Structural Equation Modeling (PLS-SEM) method with SmartPLS software. The results indicate that income significantly affects Doom Spending, as individuals with higher incomes tend to have greater financial flexibility to engage in impulsive spending as an emotional escape. Social media also significantly influences Doom Spending, primarily due to exposure to promotional content that increases  impulsive consumption tendencies. Additionally, a consumptive lifestyle reinforces Doom Spending behavior, especially among individuals who experience fear of missing out (FOMO). Simultaneously, income, social media, and lifestyle collectively contribute to the rise of Doom Spending among Generation Z. These findings highlight the importance of financial literacy education and increased awareness of the impacts of  impulsive consumption. Future research is recommended to incorporate additional variables such as self-control or social pressure and to expand the sample coverage to other regions to obtain more comprehensive results.  Keywords: Income, Social Media, Lifestyle, Doom Spending, Generation Z.   Abstrak  Doom Spending menjadi fenomena yang semakin marak di kalangan Generasi Z, terutama sebagai bentuk pelampiasan emosi negatif seperti stres dan kecemasan terhadap masa depan. Abstract

This study examines the impact of the contextual teaching and learning (CTL) model in increasing students' self-confidence and higher-order thinking skills (HOTS) in Economics at SMA Negeri 1 Demak. Addressing challenges such as low self-confidence and limited critical thinking often associated with traditional teacher-centered methods, the research compares the CTL approach with Problem-Based Learning (PBL). Using a quasi-experimental design with a nonequivalent control group, the study involved 72 eleventh-grade students who were equally divided into an experimental group (employing CTL) and a control group (using PBL). Data was collected through direct observation of self-confidence indicators as well as pretest-posttest tests to measure HOTS based on aspects of analysis, evaluation, and creation. Statistical analysis, including observation sheet results, N-Gain score calculations, and Independent Sample t-Test, revealed significant improvements in both self-confidence and higher-order thinking skills among students in the CTL group compared to those in the control group. The findings indicate that the CTL model not only increases cognitive engagement but also fosters a more interactive and supportive classroom environment, ultimately enhancing academic performance in Economics. These findings support the adoption of the CTL model as an effective learning strategy in improving Economics subject outcomes at the high school level.

Abstract

This study examines green consumption behavior during Car Free Day (CFD) activities at Simpang Lima Semarang, a public space that serves as a meeting point for social, economic, and environmental interactions. This participatory case study aims to explore the forms of environmentally friendly consumption practices implemented by visitors and vendors in the open space. The method used is a participatory case study with participatory observation and in-depth interviews conducted over four weeks, involving 70 vendors and 143 visitors, with 24 informants willing to be interviewed in depth. Data were analyzed using a thematic approach to identify emerging patterns of behavior. The results show that various green consumption practices are implemented, such as the use of tumblers and cloth shopping bags by visitors, as well as the use of environmentally friendly packaging, the provision of local or organic products, and trash bins by vendors. Supporting factors include individual environmental awareness, social values, and the influence of family or community, while the main constraints are limited facilities and access to environmentally friendly options. These findings suggest that CFD Simpang Lima functions as an informal learning space for building ecological awareness through daily social interactions. This study recommends government support and community initiatives to enhance environmental literacy and the availability of green facilities in public spaces. These findings are currently limited to short-term observations, so further research is suggested to be conducted longitudinally or expanded to other cities to compare patterns of green consumption behavior in different urban contexts.

Abstract

Tanjung Mas is an administrative village in North Semarang that includes a fishing settlement known as Tambak Lorok, located within the Semarang Port area. Due to its direct access to the sea, the area is rich in marine resources. However, this abundance has not translated into prosperity for the local fishing families. In fact, Tanjung Mas is one of the three urban villages in Semarang City that are classified as experiencing extreme poverty. This condition has significantly impacted the area's economic resilience of fishing families. This study aims to analyze the influence of financial literacy, financial behavior, and financial inclusion—three factors that play an important role in determining the economic resilience of fishing families in Tambak Lorok. This research adopts a quantitative approach using a questionnaire-based survey method. Data analysis was conducted using SPSS version 26, chosen for its ability to objectively and empirically test the partial and simultaneous effects of independent variables on a single dependent variable. A total of 265 respondents were selected using a convenience sampling technique. The analytical method employed was multiple linear regression. The hypothesis testing results show that all three variables have a significant positive effect, with significance values of Sig. = 0.002 for financial literacy, Sig. = 0.001 for financial behavior, and Sig. = 0.000 for financial inclusion. Future research is encouraged to broaden the geographic scope of the study to enable comparative analyses across different fishing communities, adopt a mixed-methods approach for more comprehensive results, and consider modifying or adding other relevant variables.

Abstract

This community service activity was carried out to address the issue of household organic waste accumulation in Wonorejo Village by introducing a sustainable and environmentally friendly solution: the cultivation of Black Soldier Fly (BSF) larvae, commonly known as maggots. The main objective was to educate and empower local residents, particularly women involved in kitchen waste management, through a socialization and training program that promotes maggot-based waste processing. The method of implementation involved direct presentations using PowerPoint slides, followed by discussions, a question-and-answer session, and the distribution of a structured questionnaire to evaluate participants' understanding and motivation. The results indicated a high level of cognitive comprehension among participants regarding the role of maggots in decomposing organic waste and mitigating its environmental impact. Participants also showed a strong sense of responsibility toward environmental protection and a willingness to share their new knowledge. However, motivation to begin maggot cultivation was only moderate, highlighting the need for further technical training and support. The activity demonstrated the potential for maggot farming to reduce food waste by up to 60%, lower methane emissions, and offer additional income opportunities. Nevertheless, cultural stigma and inconsistent waste segregation remain challenges. This initiative revealed that, with proper education and local engagement, sustainable waste management practices can be effectively introduced in rural communities

Abstract

The home-based food industry, including tofu and meatballs, plays an important role in supporting the local economy and overcoming environmental poverty challenges. This study aims to analyze the environmental impact of home-based tofu and meatball production using ISO and OpenLCA standards. The analysis covers all stages of production, from raw material acquisition, washing, grinding, mixing, filling, steaming, to cooling. The Life Cycle Inventory (LCI) results show that each stage contributes to the use of energy, air, and raw materials, with the steaming process having the greatest impact on the most dominant category compared to other stages. Recommended measures include energy efficiency through heat insulation and biogas use, selection of local suppliers, use of low-chemical raw materials, air washing recycling, and utilization of organic waste for compost or biogas. This study proves the need for sustainable production strategies in the home-based food industry, not only to minimize environmental impact, but also to strengthen competitiveness and local economic sustainability.
