Abstract

Abstract

Urolithiasis is a stone formation in the urinary tract that includes kidney stones, ureter stones, bladder calculi, and urethra. Urolithiasis is a disease of the urinary system that occupies the third position, where the prevalence reaches 10% and continues to increase in recent decades. Virginia Henderson proposes a theory of basic human needs that is appropriately used as the basis for the nursing assessment. The study aims to illustrate the application of Virginia Henderson's theory for nursing assessment in patients with urinary system disorders. The method used is a case study with an instrument based on 14 domains of basic human needs according to Virginia Henderson's theory. The results of the study showed there are basic needs that are problematic including eating and drinking needs, self-protection and hygiene, a sense of security and comfort, relaxation, and health services. Analysis of the data group with the Standard Diagnosis Keperawatan Indonesia obtained four nursing diagnoses each preoperative and postoperative phase. The results of the study showed that the application of Virginia Henderson's theory to patients with urolithiasis found 5 basic needs that had problems, there is eating and drinking, protection and personal hygiene, a sense of security and comfort, relaxation, and health services. In addition, Virginia Henderson's theory approach can be used as an assessment model, especially in the case of the urinary system. Further studies are needed to obtain a standard form of nursing assessment model based on Virginia Henderson's theory of basic needs.

Abstract

Malposition of the acetabular component is a risk factor for postoperative dislocation. This study aims to identify and review studies related to the effectiveness of the use of a hip abduction pillow in reducing the incidence of dislocation in postoperative total hip replacement patients. The sources used are several online databases, namely Scopus, ScienceDirect, and SpringerLink published from 2000-2021. With keywords “Hip Abduction Pillow”, “Leg Abductor Cushion”, “adductor pillow”, “Concave Hip Abduction”, “Post Total Hip Replacement surgery”, “dislocation post total Hip replacement”, “Hip replacement”, and total hip replacement intervention". It was found that dislocation affects the occurrence of revision surgery. Risk factors that lead to THR revision surgery are younger age, greater comorbidities, diagnosis of avascular necrosis (AVN), larger femoral head size, male gender -male, longer operating time, and smaller size of the femoral head.Hip abduction pillow intervention has been shown to have little effect on the occurrence of dislocations in patients after total hip replacement surgery. Keywords: dislocation; hip abduction pillow; post surgery total hip replacement ABSTRAK Malposisi dari komponen acetabular merupakan salah satu resiko penyebab terjadinya dislokasi pasca operasi.

Abstract

Background: Total Joint Arthroplasty (TJA) has been proven as the common procedure for end-stage disease in both hip and knee OA. TJA surgery is usually elective. There is a long waiting time between the diagnosis and the surgery, creating a potential for functional decline during the preoperative period that makes a greater effect of disease severity on postoperative result. Therefore, preoperative management is important in TJA preparation in allowing an opportunity window to improve function in patients waiting for TJA surgery and improve postoperative functional recovery. Preoperative exercise programs, known as prehabilitation, have been studied to improve results, before and after surgery. The implementation of prehabilitation before TJA in the recent literature has been shown has many benefits to improve functional statusObjectives: This literature review sought to assess the effects of prehabilitation on the functional status of patients undergoing TJA.Methods: This review made use of articles obtained through online search on the database of EBSCO, Science Direct, Proquest, and Scopus, with inclusion criteria having full text, published in 2016-2021, and written in English which then matched with certain specific keywords to get the appropriate article. Results: A total of 7 selected articles have been reviewed in accordance with the search objectives and the results are presented in tabular form. The results of the article indicate that the participants in this study consisted of patients who underwent TKA or THA.Conclusions: Based on a review conducted on selected articles, it was revealed that prehabilitation provides several benefits including increasing muscle strength, increasing ROM, reducing pain, reducing hospital stay duration, and allowing faster physical and functional recovery after TJA surgery.
