Abstract

This study aimed to identify the relationship between self acceptance and fluid adherence in ESRD patients undergoing HD. This study used cross sectional design with consecutive sampling of 121 respondents. Data collection used fluid adherence questionnaires, self acceptance scale and documentation studies. The analysis used chi square and logistic regression. The result showed that 79,3% of respondents had adherence to fluid restriction and 78,5% of them had self acceptance. The analysis result also showed there was a significant relationship between self acceptance and fluid adherence (p=0,024), but no significant relationship between self-acceptance and IDWG (p=0.154). There was significant relationship between confounding variable of the length of time undergoing HD and fluid adherence (p=0.033), adequacy HD and IDWG (p=0,011). However, other confounding variables were not significant relationship with fluid adherence, which were: age, gender, education, and comorbidities. Furthermore, the multivariat analysis found that self acceptance was the most dominant variable affecting fluid adherence (p=0.006) after controlling by variables of the sex and the length of time undergoing HD, which can predicted 21% to fluid adherence. In conclusion, from the results of this study, it was found that there was a significant relationship between self-acceptance and length of time undergoing hemodialysis with fluid adherence in terminal renal failure patients undergoing hemodialysis. Abstract

Background: Chronic low back pain is defined as pain that persists for 12 weeks or more and is a major health problem worldwide and is associated with high medical costs, decreased productivity, and disability. The use of analgesics with nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs or opioids is one of the most common strategies to manage CLBP, but is not free from various adverse side effects. The use of other effective interventions to control pain including non-opioid medications, topical treatments, physical modalities, and complementary and alternative therapies is needed to reduce the side effects resulting from the use of pharmacological therapies. Auricular Point Acupressure is one of the complementary strategies of Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) that is widely used clinically to treat pain. APA may be useful for acute or chronic pain, either alone or in combination with other treatments. Objectives: To analyze the effectiveness of Auricular Point Acupressure for chronic low back pain. Methods: Literature review through online databases namely: Google Scholar, PubMed, EBSCOhost, and Scopus on articles with free full-text criteria, using Indonesian or English, publication in the last 10 years (2013-2022), and research designs of clinical trials, randomized controlled trials, systematic reviews, meta- analysis. The article search used the keywords (low back pain OR low back pain OR back pain) AND (auriculotherapy OR auricular therapy OR auricular acupressure OR ear acupressure) AND (pain OR disability). Results: 50 articles were found with 5 articles meeting the inclusion criteria. Of the five articles, the majority explained that the use of Auricular Acupressure is relatively safe and effective for reducing chronic low back pain, some articles showed a decrease in disability rates and improved sleep quality. Conclusions: Auricular Point Acupressure can be considered a relatively safe and effective complementary therapy fopr reducing chronic low back pain.

Abstract

ABSTRACT Pain is a problem that always arises in postoperative patients. Pain in patients after orthopedic surgery is higher than in other surgical cases. Postoperative pain management has not been fulfilled optimally. Untreated pain problems have a negative impact both physically and psychologically. To find out the implementation of the 24-hour pain assessment protocol in patient with orthopaedic surgery. This study is the application of Evidence Based Nursing (EBN) in post orthopedic surgery patients. Inclusion criteria: patients undergoing orthopedic surgery, aged 18 years, can communicate well, willing to be involved in the study. Exclusion criteria: patients with decreased consciousness and patients with cognitive impairment. Pain reporting was carried out independently at the 3rd hour, 7th hour, 11th hour, 15th hour, 19th hour and 24th hour in a state of rest and in a state of movement. The most severe postoperative pain was reported by patients in the first 3 hours after surgery and began to decrease in both conditions both at rest and during movement. Pain at 3 to 19 hours showed a significant difference between pain at rest and on movement (p<0.05). At the 24th hour measurement, the results showed that there was no difference in pain scores at rest and during movement (p>0.05). Application of pain assessment protocols for 24 hours after orthopedic surgery can determine the dynamics of patient pain from time to time while at rest and during movement. Pain in patients after orthopedic surgery is at a mild to moderate level. Keywords: Assessment, Orthopaedic, Pain, Surgery  ABSTRAK Nyeri menjadi permasalahan yang selalu muncul pada pasien paska operasi.
