Abstract

Learning equipment is important things that determine the quality of the learning process and output. We need a study about validity, practicality, and effectiveness of the learning equipment to ensure teaching and learning quality. The purpose of this research is to evaluate the validity of the learning equipment based on guided discovery, especially the students’ worksheets. This research was a descriptive qualitative research that provides the result of students’ worksheets and experts' recommendations. The experts who validated these student’s worksheets were three experts on mathematics education. The instruments used in this study was the validation sheets for LKPD. The result of validation sheets analysis for LKPD showed that in general, the students’ worksheets were valid. The validity of the didactical aspect and contents aspect sequently were 0,667 dan 0,704.

Abstract

Abstract. This study aims to analyze the types of error and its factors that cause students’ error in solving operation research problems in the program linear topic based on Newman’s Error Analysis (NEA). This research is qualitative research by using a descriptive approach. The subjects in this study are fourth-grade college students in the Mathematics Education Program at State Islamic Institute of Kerinci that chosen by purposive sampling technique. The data was collected by using a test and interview. The data analysis was done descriptively. Based on the research findings, the types of students error in solving operation research problems were reading errors, comprehension errors, transformation errors, process skill errors, and encoding errors. The factors that cause the students' error were the students can not interpret, understand and understand the meaning of the questions overall; can not determine the formula to solve the problems; can not carry out the algorithm of arithmetic operations.

Abstract

The Covid-19 pandemic has had a significant impact on the education system around the world, leading to changes in the implementation of learning that reduce the number of face-to-face meetings and require students to engage in more self-regulated learning. To ensure optimal student learning achievement despite studying independently, teachers must select a suitable model. One alternative solution to increase self-regulated learning is the Flipped Classroom model. Therefore, this study aims to examine the effectiveness of the Flipped Classroom model in promoting students' self-regulated learning. To investigate the effectiveness of the Flipped Classroom model, a quasi-experimental research design was employed, using a pretest-posttest nonequivalent control group design at a State Islamic Junior High School in Kerinci, Jambi. Data was collected through a self-regulated learning questionnaire, and the hypothesis was tested using a t-test. The results of the study indicate that the Flipped Classroom model is highly effective in increasing students' self-regulated learning in mathematics. As such, this model is highly suitable for sustainable application at all levels of education in the future.

Abstract

The mathematical content in school mathematics must not be isolated from students known context students so the mathematics learning becomes meaningful. One context that is close to the student environment is a popular cultural context, for example batik crafts. This research aims to explore native batik of Kerinci related to transformation geometry content. The type of research used is ethnography. The instrument used in this research was the researcher himself (human instrument). The data collection techniques used are literature study and documentation. The data analysis techniques used are data reduction, data presentation and drawing conclusions. The results of the research show that the motif of native batik of Kerinci contains mathematical concepts in the geometry transformation content, namely reflection, translation, rotation and dilation. These findings can be integrated into mathematics learning through transformation geometry learning tools using the context of native batik of Kerinci.

Abstract

Mathematical knowledge will be meaningful for students if it is discovered through mathematical rediscovery activities. This research aims to provide an overview of the activities carried out by researchers in teaching material on multiplication rule and permutation as an insight for other researchers to try various activities that are relevant for teaching combinatorics material in general. This research is a scoping literature review using the 8-stage framework of Xiao & Watson. The review was carried out on 6 relevant articles published in various reputable international journals without a specific time limit. Based on the results of the review, it was found that learning permutations using activities included using the context of towers, beaded bracelets, presentation sequences, teddy bears, and photography. The activities used generally consist of arranging physical objects. The author suggests using reorderable objects to teach permutations. The context used must be adapted to the knowledge and experience of the students.
