Abstract

Arabic morphology (Ilmu Shorof) learning in higher education is often perceived as abstract and cognitively demanding, which can reduce students’ motivation and engagement. This condition highlights the need for pedagogical innovation that enhances the quality of learning experiences. This study aims to refine a gamified learning product for Ilmu Shorof and to evaluate students’ perceptions of its pedagogical quality using the ARCS motivational model (Attention, Relevance, Confidence, Satisfaction). The research employed an evaluative approach with a descriptive quantitative design. The participants were 50 students of the Arabic Language Education program who used the refined gamification product in Ilmu Shorof learning. Data were collected through an ARCS-based perception questionnaire and analyzed using descriptive statistics. The findings indicate that gamified Ilmu Shorof learning received positive responses across all ARCS dimensions, with mean scores in the good category. These results suggest that gamification not only enhances learning motivation but also functions as a pedagogical innovation that supports a more transformative approach to Ilmu Shorof learning in higher education.

Abstract

Invasive weeds possess high adaptability and dispersal capacity, enabling them to alter plant community structure across various agroecosystems, including rubber plantations. This study aimed to identify invasive weed species and analyze their dominance based on the Summed Dominance Ratio (SDR) in a rubber plantation in Gandus Subdistrict, Palembang City. The study employed vegetation analysis using a purposive sampling method with quadrat transects across three observation zones (front, middle, and back of the plantation), each consisting of seven plots measuring 2 × 2 m. Vegetation parameters analyzed included relative density, relative frequency, importance value, and SDR. The results recorded 15 weed species from 8 families with a total of 315 individuals, with Asteraceae representing the most dominant family in terms of species richness. SDR analysis indicated that Rolandra fruticosa was the most dominant species (28.27%), followed by Asystasia gangetica, Digitaria ciliaris, Ageratum conyzoides, and Synedrella nodiflora. The dominance of these species reflects high ecological pressure within the rubber plantation agroecosystem, facilitating the proliferation of invasive weeds. These findings provide baseline information on weed community structure and can serve as a reference for developing more effective weed management strategies in rubber plantations.

Abstract

This research investigates the effectiveness of digital storytelling as a supplementary tool for lexical fact retrieval and sustainable retention of EFL vocabulary among middle school learners. The research was conducted in particular Islamic School in Gresik, Indonesia. The selected participants were 38 eight-grade EFL learners, divided into experimental and control groups. Vocabulary knowledge was assessed through pre-test, immediate post-test, and delayed post-test conducted after two weeks. The independent sample t-test showed a significantly greater mean improvement in the digital storytelling (DST) group compared to the control group (MD = 8.04, p < .001). The vocabulary retention proved by the result of paired sample t-test which show consistency on the students’ delayed test result (p > .005). This study contributes to the growing literature on digital storytelling and its impact on lexical support. The method proved that DST is effective to enhance students’ vocabulary retention through related multimedia. Digital Storytelling enhance students’ focus and motivation to participate in class.
