Abstract

This study aims to determine students' perceptions of online learning in practical courses at the Bali Tourism Polytechnic during the corona virus (COVID-19) pandemic. The students’ perceptions are limited to the aspects of teaching and learning, capabilities (lecturers' abilities), and facilities and infrastructure. The population in this study were all students of Room Division Management program of the Bali Tourism Polytechnic. The sample was taken using a purposive sampling technique which only focused on students who were taking practical courses in the Room Division Management program. Data were collected using online questionnaires and in-depth interviews with several students to obtain more detailed information. The data analysis technique used qualitative analysis consisting of data collection, data reduction, data presentation, and conclusion. The results showed that students' perceptions of online learning in practical courses are positive, with details of the teaching and learning aspects of 67%, the aspects of capabilities (lecturers' abilities) of 94%, and of the aspects of facilities and infrastructure of 79%. Based on the results of the interview, it was found that the problem lies in the devices owned by students that are not compatible to access online learning so it is difficult to do practicum at home.

Abstract

Training has become a fundamental aspect in maintaining and even developing human resources in an organization. Training is a serious program that cost a lot, therefore the training program provided should be formulated based on the employee’s needs. Online training is one of the methods that is expected to give more flexibility and efficiency to the employees and the employers. As a luxury resort, Hotel X conducts online training and sets minimum hours to be achieved by the employees. However, based on the data obtained, most of employees do not achieve the minimum hours. Therefore, this research aims to analyse the online training program conducted at Hotel X in Bali. This research employed quantitative and qualitative methods to obtain the employees’ perceptions regarding the training course, content, instructor, and its relevance to their job. The quantitative data were obtained through a set of questionnaires administered to 180 samples and qualitative data were obtained by conducting interview with some employees and some managerial and senior staff. The result showed that, the training course and the training content provided are very good, the training instructor is qualified and very good, and the online training materials are relevant to the respondent’s job.

Abstract

Desa Sayan memiliki potensi yang luar biasa dari alam yaitu persawahan, sungai, dan hutan serta budaya seperti kesenian angklung gangsa dan angklung kocok, serta kesenian lukis aliran ‘Young Artist’ yang cukup terkenal. Dengan potensi yang luar biasa tersebut masih ditemui kurangnya kesadaran dan kemampuan masyarakat setempat dalam memberikan pelayanan yang baik khususnya dalam memberikan penjelasan mengenai produk desa wisata alam dan budaya yang dimiliki. Oleh karena itu, dibutuhkan pelatihan terhadap bidang-bidang tersebut yang akan dilakukan secara bertahap sehingga kemampuan mereka dalam memberikan pelayanan kepada wisatawan baik wisatawan lokal maupun wisatawan mancanegara kedepannya akan lebih baik. salah satunya melalui kegiatan pelatihan. Pelatihan kepemanduan wisata lokal bagi masyarakat di Desa Wisata Sayan, Kecamatan Ubud, Kabupaten Gianyar merupakan sebuah kegiatan pelatihan yang diselenggarakan oleh Program Studi D4 Manajemen Bisnis Perjalanan, Politeknik Pariwisata Bali sebagai bentuk pengabdian kepada masyarakat. Harapan setelah diselenggarakannya pelatihan adalah menumbuhkan pemahaman para peserta pelatihan dalam mengelola DTW maupun fasilitas penunjang pariwisata yang ada di Desa Wisata Sayan, Ubud serta  sikap professional dalam memberikan pelayanan prima kepada wisatawan.

Abstract

This study aims to identify the application of the teachings of Tri Kaya Parisudha local wisdom in guiding tours in Bali. For this reason, the study was conducted using qualitative approach by collecting data through in-depth interviews to five senior tour guides, scholars in Balinese culture, Hindu Religion and philosophy, and Hindu religious figures in Bali. The data obtained through the interview were analyzed descriptively. The results showed that Tri Kaya Parisudha local wisdom should become the reference for tourist guide in handling their clients. It could be used as philosophy, ethic, as well as a base for service to the clients or guests. However, there are still a number of tour guides who do not apply the Tri Kaya Parisudha teaching in handling their clients. More studies on this topic would enrich the topic and research on how to implement it in real life situation would be useful for improving the quality of tour guide in Bali.

Abstract

This writing is descriptive qualitative study which is aimed to identify the tourism interests and supporting facilities needed by international tourists taking a cycling package tour in Petak Kaja Village. The study is a type of village or rural area tourism development based on the theory of sustainable community based tourism. Data were collected through interview with 15 tourists taking cycling tour program in Peta Village. The result shows that the tourists taking part in this cycling package tour found some village attributes such as the local people, their daily life, the landscape beauty, village rice fields, local ceremonies, village houses, temples and schools are interesting. Meanwhile environment cleanliness, village traffic and quality of village roads are less interesting. The landscape beauty is most interesting and the village traffic is the least interesting. They urgently need clean and hygienic toilets and clear and good quality of water which they can use in the houses of local people. The results showed brought about some practical implication namely the need to provide and improve the facilities needed by the tourist and the cleanliness.

Abstract

One form of tourism that has grown significantly around the world is educational tourism. The potential of Indonesian for Foreign Speakers (BIPA) as an educational tourism destination offering educational experiences is discussed in this study. The study's methodology is a qualitative one because the issues under investigation concern actors in the tourism and education industries' attitudes and perspectives on BIPA as one of Bali's main interests for international tourists. Data were collected by interviewing a number of key informants including the BIPA program director of the Balai Bahasa Bali, BIPA teachers, a faculty member who is also involved in an international program at Udayana University, a number of individuals involved in the tourism industry, including the current and previous president of the Indonesian Tour Guide Association, tourism observers, and academics. The study's findings indicate that BIPA has the potential to become one of Bali's top draws for visitors looking to learn the Balinese and Indonesian languages.

Abstract

The linguistic landscape has attracted the interest of many language researchers recently. One area of study that has not received much attention is the linguistic landscape of restaurants. Therefore, this study aims to analyze the linguistic landscape of food stalls in Melasti Beach, Bali. Data was obtained by taking photos using a cell phone camera against signboards, banners and menu lists displayed in front of the restaurant. A total of 43 photos were collected and there were 144 items analyzed. then categorized based on the language used. The results of the study found that the use of language in the linguistic landscape at Melasti Beach was dominated by the use of Indonesian and followed by English and other foreign languages. There is the phenomenon of bilingualism and multilingualism. This linguistic landscape is in line with tourists visiting Melasti Beach.

Abstract

This article aims to describe the tourist behavior of State Civil Servants of the Ministry of Tourism and Creative Economy of the Republic of Indonesia. Data was obtained by distributing questionnaires via Google form to staff. Of the fifty (50) people who were asked to fill in, as many as forty-one (41) or 82% filled it out. The data obtained were analyzed descriptively and the findings from this study were that the tourist behavior of state civil servants at the Ministry of Tourism and Creative Economy varied greatly. Most of the respondents travel between three to 6 times a year, like nature tourism, plan their trips within a week or less and between 3 to 6 months, travel between 2 to 3 days and between 4 to 6 days. Sources of information for their holidays mostly come from social media and from friends or colleagues. Most of them like to travel with their families and a few travels with friends, but no one travels alone.

Abstract

Many studies have demonstrated a large impact on the job satisfaction and the way it influences productivity of employee or staff performance in order to increase hotel performance. This research is focused on analyzing employee job satisfaction level at InterContinental Bali Resort using Gruneberg Job Satisfaction Model as main theory. The data on this study gathered by distributing questionnaires and conducting interviews. After that, the result of it will be analyzed in quantitative and qualitative methods. The result from the research is most employees in Food & Beverage Service at Intercontinental Bali Resort are satisfied with the indicators stated by Gruneberg theory, however some improvements was addressed and findings were discussed.
