Abstract

The ability to recognize Arabic letters (huruf hijaiyah) in early childhood is a fundamental skill that needs to be stimulated from an early age, as it forms the basis for reading the Qur’an and supports children’s language and cognitive development. Observations at RA Perwanida 3 Palembang show that children aged 5–6 years are already able to recognize, mention, read, and distinguish hijaiyah letters well, indicating that the learning process implemented by teachers has been effective and developmentally appropriate. This study aims to describe the strategies used by teachers in introducing hijaiyah letters and to identify the supporting and inhibiting factors in the learning process. This research uses a qualitative method with a case study approach, and data were collected through in-depth interviews, participatory observation, and documentation of learning activities. The results show that teachers apply varied and engaging learning strategies through play-based approaches such as singing, storytelling, and routine repetition, as well as using the Iqro method and listening–visual techniques. Teachers also utilize various learning media such as hijaiyah flashcards, hijaiyah puzzles, Iqro books, and visual materials to improve children’s engagement and understanding. Supporting factors include adequate learning facilities, parental involvement, and children’s enthusiasm during learning activities. Meanwhile, inhibiting factors involve irregular attendance, individual differences in ability, noisy classroom conditions, and children’s fluctuating concentration. This study concludes that creative and contextual learning strategies are effective in improving children’s ability to recognize hijaiyah letters; however, improvements are needed in attendance consistency and attention management to optimize learning outcomes.

Abstract

This research aims to improve Islamic Education (PAI) learning outcomes for grade XI.9 students at SMA Negeri 2 Soppeng through the implementation of the Active Knowledge Sharing method. The primary issue addressed is the low level of student engagement and learning achievement caused by conventional teaching methods. This study utilizes Classroom Action Research (CAR) consisting of planning, acting, observing, and reflecting stages. The subjects were students of class XI.9 at SMA Negeri 2 Soppeng. Data were collected through observation sheets of student activities and learning outcome tests. The results indicate that the application of the Active Knowledge Sharing method effectively enhances student participation and comprehension of PAI materials. This improvement is evidenced by the increase in average test scores and the percentage of students achieving the minimum mastery criteria across cycles. In conclusion, the Active Knowledge Sharing method is an effective strategy for improving the quality of PAI learning at SMA Negeri 2 Soppeng. It is recommended that teachers adopt this method as an innovative, student-centered alternative to foster collaborative learning. Abstract

The management of ethnic diversity in elementary schools remains a critical challenge in Indonesia's education system. This study addresses the issue of low interethnic tolerance among fourth-grade students who tend to segregate based on tribal backgrounds. To overcome this, the RADEC (Read, Answer, Discuss, Explain, Create) learning model was implemented as an intervention. This Classroom Action Research (CAR) was conducted over two cycles involving 21 students at a public elementary school in Tebo Regency. Data were gathered through observation of teacher activities and questionnaires measuring tolerance attitudes. The findings revealed a significant transformation: whereas 57.14% of students were initially categorized as having low tolerance, the final cycle saw 100% of students achieving high and very high tolerance categories. The RADEC model proved effective not only in improving cognitive understanding but also in fostering social collaboration through structured interaction phases.

Abstract

This research addresses low cognitive abilities among early childhood students at PAUD Bethel Jerol in South Aru District due to teacher-centered learning approaches and suboptimal teaching methods. The study aims to determine whether constructivist learning approach can enhance cognitive abilities and learning activities of 11 students (5 boys, 6 girls). Using classroom action research methodology conducted over two cycles from June 3-11, 2024, each cycle consisted of planning, implementation, observation, and reflection stages. Data collection employed observation sheets, documentation, and cognitive ability tests. Results demonstrate significant improvements: student positive activities increased from 26% in cycle I to 42% in cycle II, while average cognitive scores rose from 6.3 to 7.2. The number of students achieving minimum completeness criteria (score ≥7.8) increased from 1 student (3%) to 12 students (34%). The research concludes that constructivist approach effectively improves both student activities and cognitive learning outcomes by allowing children to build knowledge based on their experiences through direct observation and active participation.

Abstract

This study was conducted based on the researcher’s direct experience during the PLP 2 program at SDN 1 Darma, where observations were carried out on the use of recycled smart board learning media developed by a fifth-grade homeroom teacher. The media was applied as an alternative instructional variation in classroom learning and received a positive response from students. Early observations showed that students demonstrated higher levels of engagement when learning activities incorporated smart board media compared to learning that relied solely on textbooks. Based on these conditions, this study aims to examine how the use of recycled smart board media contributes to supporting student engagement in fifth-grade elementary classrooms. This research employed a qualitative descriptive design involving fifth-grade students at SDN 1 Darma. Data were obtained through classroom observations, interviews with teachers and students, as well as documentation of learning activities. The data analysis process consisted of data reduction, data presentation, and conclusion drawing. The results indicate that the application of smart board media fostered a more interactive learning atmosphere, encouraged active student participation, and increased students’ confidence during the learning process. In addition, the media helped teachers deliver learning materials in a more concrete manner that aligns with the characteristics of elementary school students. Therefore, recycled smart board media can be regarded as an effective learning practice to enhance student engagement at the elementary education level.

Abstract

This study was conducted to address the issue of low religious character building in early childhood at Mutiara Waworada Kindergarten, where some students are unable to consistently demonstrate religious behavior, such as reciting prayers correctly, participating in worship activities in an orderly manner, and behaving politely in daily interactions. This condition requires a learning approach that is not only instructional but also able to guide children to a deep understanding of religious values. Therefore, this study aims to describe the process and impact of applying a deep learning approach in strengthening students' religious character, particularly in terms of spiritual, social, and emotional independence. This study uses a qualitative research type with a descriptive design. The data sources consist of classroom teachers, students in group B, and supporting documents in the form of lesson plans, observation notes, and documentation of learning activities. Data collection techniques include participatory observation, semi-structured interviews, and documentation of religious learning activities. The data was analyzed through stages of reduction, data presentation, and conclusion drawing by applying triangulation techniques to improve validity. The results of the study show that the application of the deep learning approach through worship observation activities, gradual guidance, simple reflection, and positive reinforcement succeeded in forming more consistent religious behavior in students. Children showed improvement in prayer discipline, emotional control, concern for friends, and independence in performing worship practices. Deep learning has been proven to have a holistic impact in strengthening religious character integrated with children's social and emotional development.

Abstract

This study was motivated by the finding that some school administrative staff have not been fully able to complete their tasks optimally. This condition is thought to be caused by low levels of competence in several important aspects, such as technical, managerial, and interpersonal skills. Based on this, this study was conducted to analyze the effect of competence on the performance of school administrative staff. This study uses a quantitative approach with a survey method. The subjects in this study were all administrative staff of UPT SMA Negeri 1 Wajo, totaling 22 people. Data collection was carried out through a closed questionnaire with a Likert scale. Data analysis was carried out descriptively and inferentially using a simple linear regression test with the help of the SPSS version 30.0 program. The results of the study showed that the competence of administrative staff was in the "good" category with a percentage of 79%, and the performance of administrative staff was also in the "good" category with a percentage of 81%. The results of the simple linear regression analysis showed that there was a positive and significant influence between competence and the performance of administrative staff, with a significance value of 0.021 (<0.05) and a regression coefficient of 0.607. This means that the higher the competence of administrative staff, the higher the performance shown.

Abstract

Students’ learning interest in Natural and Social Sciences (IPAS) is still relatively low, which affects their motivation and learning outcomes. This study aims to determine the effect of the Ecoliteracy and Adaptation (ELA) learning model based on local wisdom on improving the learning interest of fifth-grade students at SD Negeri Gedongkuning. This research employed a quantitative approach using a quasi-experimental method with a nonequivalent control group design. The subjects consisted of two classes, namely an experimental class that applied the Ecoliteracy and Adaptation (ELA) model and a control class that used the Problem-Based Learning (PBL) model. Data were collected through observation and documentation, while data analysis was conducted using prerequisite tests (normality and homogeneity) and hypothesis testing with an Independent Samples t-test using SPSS. The results showed that students’ learning interest in the experimental class increased significantly, as indicated by the increase in average scores from pretest to posttest and supported by statistical analysis showing a significance value of 0.000 < 0.05. The findings indicate that the Ecoliteracy and Adaptation (ELA) learning model based on local wisdom is more effective than Problem-Based Learning (PBL) in improving students’ learning interest. Contextual and experience-based learning through environmental and local wisdom integration encourages active participation, motivation, and students’ curiosity in the learning process.

Abstract

The background to this research is based on the importance of classroom management skills for a teacher in creating a constructive, safe and entertaining learning environment, which can improve student discipline. This research aims to describe the classroom management skills applied by teachers in fostering discipline in grade 3 students at SDN Pasirjati and to describe what obstacles are experienced by teachers in implementing good classroom management to foster student discipline in grade 3 SDN Pasirjati. This research uses a qualitative approach with a descriptive research design. The qualitative data analysis technique used is based on Miles and Huberman's interactive model, which includes three main steps: data reduction, data presentation, and conclusion or verification. Based on the results of research conducted in class 3 at SDN Pasirjati, it can be concluded that the classroom management skills carried out by teachers are in accordance with the indicators of success in classroom management skills which can foster students' disciplinary attitudes. Then, the obstacles experienced by teachers in implementing classroom management in class 3 at SDN Pasirjati are differences in character between students, family environmental factors, and finally facilities and infrastructure that are still inadequate.

Abstract

Political education plays an important role in shaping students’ political literacy, particularly amid the increasingly massive development of digital media. Digital media not only serves as a source of political information but also influences students’ ways of thinking, attitudes, and political participation. This study aims to analyze the role of political education in enhancing students’ political literacy in the digital media era as well as its implications for political attitudes and participation. This research employs a qualitative approach using a literature review method by collecting data from various scholarly articles, books, and relevant academic sources. The findings indicate that political education contributes significantly to improving students’ understanding of political systems, democratic values, and critical thinking skills in responding to political information in digital media. Furthermore, adequate political literacy encourages the formation of rational, responsible, and participatory political attitudes. Therefore, strengthening political education that is adaptive to digital media developments is a strategic necessity in building a politically literate young generation committed to democratic values.
