Abstract

This study aims to comprehensively analyze teacher preparedness in teaching students with intellectual disabilities. Discussions include teachers' understanding of student needs, challenges faced, learning strategies implemented, and factors influencing their effectiveness. This study used a quantitative approach with descriptive analysis methods. Data were collected through a Likert-scale questionnaire distributed to teachers at special needs schools (SLB) in South Sulawesi using a simple random sampling technique. The collected data were then analyzed using descriptive statistics. The results showed that most teachers were not fully prepared to teach students with intellectual disabilities. Although teachers had a good understanding of teaching approaches, significant weaknesses were found in terms of sensitivity to students' emotional and social needs. The main challenges faced by teachers included an inadequate curriculum, difficulties implementing teaching methods, and classroom management. External factors such as limited access to training were a major obstacle to teacher preparedness.

Abstract

This study aims to analyse the readiness of the management of MTsS Ulumul Qur’an, Central Aceh, to implement the Love-Based Curriculum (KBC) in the first semester of the2026/2027 academic year. This study employs a qualitative approach using a case study design. Informants consisted of the headteacher, the deputy head for curriculum, teachers, and form tutors, selected through purposive sampling. Data were collected via semi-structured interviews and documentation, and subsequently analysed using the Miles, Huberman and Saldaña model. The research findings indicate that the madrasah management’s readiness falls into the ‘early readiness’ category, characterised by the implementation of teacher training, curriculum dissemination, and the development of KBC-based teaching materials. Teachers are beginning to understand the KBC concept and integrate values of love into their teaching, although levels of readiness still vary. The main supporting factors include a pesantren-based madrasah culture, the leadership of the headteacher, and collaboration with parents. Meanwhile, the constraints encountered include difficulties in integrating values into teaching, time constraints, differences in pupils’ backgrounds, and the sub-optimal evaluation of affective aspects.

Abstract

Cognitive ability plays a crucial role in early childhood development because it supports thinking, problem-solving, memory, and understanding of the surrounding environment. However, learning activities conducted in early childhood education settings are still dominated by conventional methods, resulting in less optimal cognitive stimulation. Canva-based educational games can act as an alternative learning medium that promotes interactive and enjoyable learning experiences. This study aimed to determine the effectiveness of Canva-based educational games on the cognitive abilities of children aged 5–6 years at TK Bhakti Family, Bengkulu City. This study employed a quantitative method employing a Quasi-Experimental Design with a Pretest-Posttest Control Group Design. The study involved 40 children in the experimental group and 40 children in the control group. Data were gathered through observation, documentation, and a cognitive ability assessment instrument that met validity and reliability requirements (Cronbach’s Alpha = 0.753). The homogeneity test yielded a significance value of 0.890, indicating homogeneous data. Based on the Independent Sample T-Test, the significance value was 0.856 (>0.05), which suggests that no significant difference existed between the experimental and control groups. The findings suggest that Canva-based educational games provide engaging and interactive learning experiences; however, they do not significantly affect the cognitive skills of children aged 5–6 years.

Abstract

This study aims to construct an instructional leadership model for school principals based on Kemuhammadiyahan values within the context of an Islamic boarding school. This issue is addressed to overcome a persistent problem, namely the dichotomy of curriculum and the dominance of bureaucratic leadership styles that tend to neglect the academic substance of pesantren education. This research employed a qualitative approach with a descriptive-analytical case study design. Data were collected through semi-structured interviews, passive participatory observation, and document analysis at Pondok Pesantren Modern Muhammadiyah Sangen. Informants were selected using purposive and snowball sampling techniques, involving the principal, vice principals, asatidz, and Muhammadiyah organizational administrators. The data were analyzed using the interactive model of Miles, Huberman, and Saldaña. The findings reveal three main themes: (1) the theological internalization of the values of Tauhid, Amanah, Tajdid, Berkemajuan, and Uswah Hasanah as the leadership worldview, (2) the articulation of instructional strategies through the mandatory integration of Al-Islam values in lesson planning and school culture formation, and (3) the formulation of a hypothetical model of progressive instructional leadership. This model synergizes balanced guidance for teachers and students through the implementation of a tripartite curriculum consisting of general sciences, pesantren classical texts, and Kemuhammadiyahan. This study contributes to the enrichment of value-based educational leadership theory through a progressive modernist Islamic leadership paradigm. Practically, the findings provide an applicable guideline for school principals in managing the quality of an integrated 24-hour curriculum. Future studies are recommended to examine the validity of this hypothetical model in broader pesantren contexts using a multi-case approach or research and development design.

Abstract

This research was motivated by the low mathematical problem-solving abilities of fourth-grade students at SDIT Asshomadiyah, particularly in mathematics learning. Students experienced difficulties in understanding word problems, determining appropriate solution steps, and applying mathematical concepts in real-life situations. This study aimed to determine the effect of the Problem Based Learning (PBL) model on the problem-solving abilities of fourth-grade students on the topic of the area of squares and rectangles. This research employed a quantitative approach using a quasi-experimental method with a nonequivalent control group design. The population of this study consisted of all fourth-grade students at SDIT Asshomadiyah, totaling 44 students. The sampling technique used was saturated sampling, with class IV-A serving as the experimental class and class IV-B as the control class. Data collection techniques included tests, observations, and documentation. The research instruments consisted of essay-based pretests and posttests to measure problem-solving abilities. The data were analyzed using normality tests and the independent sample t-test. The results showed that the implementation of the Problem Based Learning (PBL) model had an effect on students’ problem-solving abilities. This was indicated by the improvement in problem-solving ability scores in the experimental class, which was better than that of the control class. Therefore, the Problem Based Learning (PBL) model can be used as an alternative learning model to improve students’ mathematical problem-solving abilities on the topic of the area of squares and rectangles.
