Abstract

Pakuan Village, Narmada Sub-district, West Lombok Regency, is an agrarian area with continuously growing tourism potential; however, it still faces serious challenges in managing agricultural and domestic waste. The common practices of uncontrolled disposal and open burning pose risks of environmental pollution, health problems, and a decline in the attractiveness of the village as a tourism destination. This community service activity aimed to enhance local community capacity in waste management through operational training on the use of an incinerator as an appropriate technology. The activities comprised an initial survey, educational sessions on waste characteristics and potential, hands-on training in incinerator operation, as well as mentoring and evaluation. The target participants were members of the Pakuan Village waste management team. The results demonstrated a significant improvement in participants’ understanding and skills in identifying waste types, applying standard operating procedures, and operating the incinerator safely and in an environmentally friendly manner. Evaluation results indicated that 90% of participants were categorized as having good to very good understanding of the operation and maintenance of the equipment. The implementation of the incinerator effectively reduced waste volume, minimized pollution risks, and supported environmental cleanliness in the village. Overall, this activity contributed to strengthening environmental awareness, empowering the community, and supporting the development of Pakuan Village as a sustainable agrarian and tourism village.

Abstract

Kebutuhan akan keseimbangan gizi melalui asupan makanan bagi anak usia dini sangat penting karena pada usia tersebut anak-anak sedang aktif dalam masa pertumbuhan. Kekurangan gizi pada masa pertumbuhan dapat menyebabkan beberapa masalah kesehatan pada usia dewasa, seperti penyakit tidak menular diantaranya kanker, kardiovaskuler, dan diabetus melitus. Upaya meningkatkan minat anak dalam mengkonsumsi makanan sehat dan seimbang bergizi perlu dilakukan pada anak sejak usia dini. Metode sosialisasi yang dilakukan dengan mengenalkan bermacam bentuk buah dan sayur serta penjelasan terkait manfaat nutrisi olahannya untuk dikonsumsi. Kegiatan sosialisasi dilakukan pada saat pertemuan guyub rukun antar wali murid TK IT Buah Hati Kita. Hasil sosialisasi menunjukkan peningkatan pengetahuan jenis buah dan sayur sebesar 102,4% dan peningkatan pengetahuan manfaat nutrisi sebesar 107,9%.

Abstract

This community service program aims to improve the productivity and management of goat farming in Central Lombok through the implementation of a livestock data recording system, understanding of pedigree, and health monitoring technology. The main issues faced by the partners include the lack of a structured recording system, limited knowledge of pedigree-based breeding, weak reproductive management, and low access to livestock product marketing. Therefore, this program focuses on empowering farmers through socialization, training, mentoring, and the formation of independent farmer groups for the sustainability of the program. The implementation results show significant achievements. As many as 80% of farmers were able to apply the livestock recording system either manually or digitally, with 90% data accuracy. Pedigree training enhanced the farmers' understanding of breeding, with 90% of farmers mastering the concept, and 75% of livestock from selective breeding showed superior quality. The use of health monitoring applications by 80% of farmers was able to reduce livestock mortality by 20% within six months. Additionally, the implementation of the recording system increased the birth ratio by 25%. The sustainability of the program is maintained with the formation of independent farmer groups that serve as platforms for information sharing and supporting the consistency of technology application. 75% of farmers continued recording practices, pedigree-based breeding, and health monitoring after the program ended. Factors supporting sustainability include the capacity of farmers and support from extension workers, higher education institutions, and local governments. Overall, the program successfully improved efficiency, genetic quality of livestock, reduced mortality, and strengthened farmers' independence, and it has the potential to be replicated in other regions.

Abstract

This activity aims to improve the quality of cocoa beans and promote sustainable local chocolate production through the application of optimized roasting techniques tailored to the characteristics of locally grown tropical cocoa beans. The program was led by Prof. Wan Rosli Bin Wan Ishak from USM, accompanied by Prof. Haslina Ahmad, along with collaborators from the field of Bioactive Materials and Synthesis at UPM. The activities included the delivery of training modules entitled Enhancing Cocoa Bean Quality through Optimized Roasting Techniques for Sustainable Local Chocolate Production, demonstrations of roasting processes involving parameters such as temperature, roasting time, humidity, and variations in roasting schemes, as well as a field visit to the chocolate production house at Kampung Coklat Senare. This visit aimed to provide a deeper understanding of the production workflow, the diversity of local cocoa beans, and opportunities to strengthen supply chains based on locally sourced raw materials. The primary focus of the program was the design of energy-efficient roasting strategies with minimal environmental impact, while preserving bioactive compounds and characteristic cocoa aromas through controlled Maillard reaction pathways. The initiative emphasized technology transfer, community capacity building, and the adoption of sustainable production practices among cocoa-based micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs) in North Lombok. The long-term impact is expected to be reflected in improved processing efficiency, greater utilization of local resources, and more stable income opportunities for cocoa farmers and local MSME actors. The activity was conducted at Kampung Coklat Senare, Genggelang Village, North Lombok, on 21 January 2026, highlighting the importance of international–local partnerships within the context of community engagement in tropical regions.

Abstract

This community service activity was implemented as part of the Field School program organized by the Ministry of Environment of the Republic of Indonesia on 21 May 2025 at Hotel Aruna Senggigi. The program targeted micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs) affiliated with Social Forestry Business Groups (KUPS) across West Nusa Tenggara. The primary objective was to enhance the capacity and competencies of KUPS actors in utilizing digital marketing platforms, particularly Google Business Profile, Canva, and CapCut, as strategies to strengthen product marketing through digital channels. The program was implemented in three main stages: (1) classroom based sessions introducing the concepts of digital marketing, Google Business profiles, and the use of Canva and CapCut; (2) hands on practice in creating Google Business profiles by participants; and (3) interactive question and answer and sharing sessions. The results indicated a noticeable improvement in participants’ understanding and skills in utilizing digital platforms to promote KUPS products more widely and effectively. Participants were able to create and optimize Google Business profiles, design visual promotional content using Canva, and produce promotional video content using CapCut. Overall, the activity made a tangible contribution to improving digital literacy among KUPS MSME actors in West Nusa Tenggara while supporting environmentally based and sustainable economic empowerment programs. It is expected that similar initiatives can be conducted regularly with more intensive mentoring to ensure the sustained adoption of digital marketing practices among KUPS entrepreneurs.

Abstract

This community service activity aims to enhance the capacity of the Kaba Indah Lestari Women Farmers Group (KWT) in developing cup-dip coffee products as an innovative business diversification effort that offers added value and market orientation. The main problems faced by the group include limited product innovation, the absence of standardized production procedures, and the lack of packaging design and visual appeal. The methods implemented in this program included delivering instructional materials, conducting Focus Group Discussions (FGD), demonstrations, and hands-on production training. The materials provided covered raw material standards, roasting technology, grinding, weighing, and packaging of cup-dip coffee. The FGD was conducted to design attractive packaging that aligns with the group’s identity. The results showed an increase in participants’ knowledge and skills in understanding production technology, as well as their ability to create new packaging designs ready to be used for product branding. Participants demonstrated strong enthusiasm and expressed commitment to continuing the production and marketing of the cup-dip coffee products. Overall, this community service activity had a positive impact on strengthening business capacity, increasing the added value of local coffee products, and supporting the economic independence of the KWT in Bandung Jaya Village.

Abstract

This community service program was conducted to enhance the entrepreneurial capacity of junior high school students by strengthening their technical literacy in catfish aquaculture, a fisheries commodity with substantial economic value. The activity was implemented from 3–7 November 2025 at SMP Sumbarrang, Gowa Regency, and was delivered in a theoretical format due to limited facilities for practical aquaculture activities. The training materials covered the concept of youth agropreneurship, household-scale catfish farming techniques, feed management, community-based marketing strategies within the school environment, business feasibility analysis, and the development of entrepreneurial action plans. The methods employed included interactive lectures, group discussions, business plan simulations, and pre–post test evaluations. The results indicated a significant improvement in students’ technical literacy, reflected by a 49–50% increase in understanding related to farming techniques, feed management, and market opportunities. Entrepreneurial motivation also increased among 78% of participants, demonstrated by greater willingness to express business ideas and heightened awareness of their family’s economic potential. Support from schools and parents was identified as a key factor strengthening the sustainability of the program. Overall, this activity produced a replicable empowerment model for cultivating young agropreneurs in rural school settings, contributing to local economic development through the fisheries sector.

Abstract

Salah satu program kerja kuliah nyata (KKN) Bina Desa yang dilaksanakan oleh mahasiswa adalah kegiatan bimbingan belajar bagi siswa dengan tujuan meningkatkan pemahamn siswa sekolah dasar terhadap mata pelajaran matematika. Program ini dilaksanakan di SDN 1 Semaya pada tanggal 23 Oktober 2025, dengan peserta siswa kelas VI. Metode pelaksanaan meliputi tahapan perencanaan kegiatan, pemberian pretest, bimbingan belajar, dan pemberian posttest sebagai evaluasi akhir. Materi fokus pada operasi hitung campuran dan pecahan dengan pendekatan kontekstual, menghubungkan konsep matematika ke situasi sehari-hari. Hasilnya menunjukkan peningkatan pemahamn melalui kenaikan nilai posttest dibanding pretest, serta antusiasme siswa yang positif. Secara keseluruhan, kegiatan ini efektif membantu siswa menguasai materi sulit, berkontribusi pada pembelajaran di sekolah dasar, dan menjadi wadah mahasiswa untuk menjalankan pengabdian masyarakat.

Abstract

Virgin Coconut Oil (VCO) is extracted coconut oil containing medium-chain fatty acids that are believed to have many health benefits. These fatty acids are easily digested and absorbed by the intestines because their molecules are relatively small, allowing the body to directly burn them to produce energy. Furthermore, VCO contains lauric acid, which can dissolve lipid membranes in the form of viruses, thus disrupting the immune system and inactivating the virus. VCO is processed without heating, without the addition of chemicals, dyes, or preservatives, allowing it to remain as pure vegetable oil without changing the composition or characteristics of the oil. VCO has high economic value. The manufacturing process is easy. The methods used in this Community Service are Counseling, hands-on practice, and discussion. It is hoped that the use of coconuts will not only be sold as unprocessed fruit, but that coconuts will be processed into pure coconut oil or Virgin Coconut Oil and can be developed more widely through group entrepreneurship programs, thereby increasing the income of the congregation, especially in the GMIT Elim Sialain Congregation, Uitao Village, Semau District, Kupang Regency.

Abstract

The goal of this community service program was to assist teachers to learn more about technology and get better at using AI tools like ChatGPT, QuillBot, and Canva AI to make engaging learning materials. The program used a model of workshops where everyone could participate, followed by continuing mentoring and self-evaluation. Twenty English teachers from the Musyawarah Guru Mata Pelajaran (MGMP) network went to SMPN 4 Gunung Sari for mixed-type training. Surveys, observations, and conversations were used to gather information. The results show that teachers' trust and ability to use AI in English Language Teaching (ELT) has grown significantly. Participants made lesson plans and teaching tools that used AI and shared the best ways to do things through digital communities. Teachers liked the practical method and were ready to keep using AI tools, even though there were some problems, like not enough infrastructures and not enough time for practice. This program shows that learning how to use AI can change the way teachers do their jobs and help schools build a culture of digital innovation that lasts. It is suggested that a training of trainers’ model be used to make the program more impactful to facilitate the MGMP community. Thus, it will create a chain effect that helps teachers become more independent and keeps the training going in their local areas.
