Abstract

This study examines the professionalism of Islamic Religious Education (IRE) teachers and the implementation of Islamic education policies at SDN Trans Despot Leungah. Islamic education policies are often seen as formalities without proper execution, hindering the achievement of learning objectives. The research aims to explore how these policies impact teacher professionalism. Using a qualitative descriptive approach, data was collected through observation, interviews, and documentation. The results indicate that the professionalism of IRE teachers at SDN Trans Despot Leungah is fairly good, as evidenced by their possession of teacher certifications, relevant qualifications, mastery of teaching materials, effective communication skills, and strong moral character. The implementation of Islamic education policies has been fairly successful, with the school principal actively encouraging teachers to attend seminars (both online and offline) aimed at improving their professionalism, in line with Government Regulation No. 19/2017. This research is limited to an elementary school setting, and further studies are encouraged to expand the exploration of this topic to junior and senior high school institutions.

Abstract

This study investigates the effectiveness of Artificial Intelligence (AI) tools in enhancing digital content creation within project-based learning (PBL). Conducted at the Department of English Language and Literature, specifically the English Education Study Program, Faculty of Languages and Arts, Universitas Negeri Medan, the research focuses on students enrolled in the Digital Education Content Creator subject. The objective of the study is to evaluate the effectiveness of Artificial Intelligence (AI) in enhancing the quality of educational video content compared to conventional methods within a project-based learning framework. The research used a randomized sampling method, involving 80 students divided into two groups: an experimental group of 40 students using AI tools and a control group of 40 students relying on traditional approaches. Both groups created videos assessed based on six key criteria: content quality and relevance, clarity and structure, engagement, technical quality, duration and tempo, and accessibility and usability. The results show that the experimental group achieved significantly higher post-test scores, with an average of 3.8 compared to 2.64 in the control group. Hypothesis testing also supports these findings, with a t-test result exceeding the critical value. The findings confirm that AI tools significantly improve content quality, enabling students to produce more relevant, accessible, and technically refined digital content within a PBL framework. Future research should address AI's long-term effectiveness in different subject areas, accessibility challenges, and ethical concerns in education.

Abstract

Moral education is an integral part of Islamic education, aiming to develop individuals of character, religious devotion, and good manners. Imam Ibn Hibban and Al-Harith bin Asad Al-Muhasibi provide unique perspectives on the goals, content, and methods of moral education. This study examines the differences and similarities between their views, focusing on intellectual and spiritual approaches in moral education. Imam Ibn Hibban emphasizes the role of knowledge and intellect in fostering a love for good morals and avoiding vice. He sees morality as a reflection of one's intellectual understanding, requiring education to integrate cognitive, affective, and psychomotor elements. Conversely, Al-Harith bin Asad Al-Muhasibi approaches moral education through a Sufi lens, prioritizing the purification of the soul (tazkiyatun nafs) and closeness to Allah. He stresses the importance of controlling desires, introspection (muhasabah), and spiritual role models in shaping morals. Both scholars agree on the significance of manners and environmental influences in shaping behavior but differ in their emphasis on knowledge and manners as the foundation of morality. The findings underscore that Islamic moral education is rooted not only in knowledge but also in profound spiritual and moral dimensions.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the evaluation of Islamic Religious Education (PAI) learning in grade V of SDN 158 Palembang, focusing on the implementation, effectiveness, and challenges faced. The research uses a descriptive qualitative method, collecting data through in-depth interviews, observations, and document studies. The study subjects include PAI teachers and grade V students as the primary data sources. The study results show that learning evaluation is carried out in an integrated manner covering cognitive, affective, and psychomotor aspects. Teachers use written tests to measure conceptual understanding, attitude observation to assess students' character, and hands-on practice to evaluate worship skills. This evaluation has provided a comprehensive picture of student achievement, although obstacles such as limited time for in-depth assessment and lack of standardized evaluation tools have been found. Observations revealed that the direct practice-based approach was more effective in building students' understanding of the teaching material than conventional evaluation methods. This study concludes that although the evaluation of PAI learning has been reasonably practical, developing a more structured and technology-based evaluation system is still needed to improve the efficiency and accuracy of assessment. The implications of this study emphasize the importance of individualized guidance for students and strengthening teacher competence in carrying out holistic-based learning evaluations. These findings can be the basis for developing PAI education policies at the elementary school

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the implementation of affective evaluation in learning Aqidah Akhlak at MI Adabiyah 2 Palembang, focusing on the role of teachers in instilling character values in students. This study uses a qualitative approach with interview techniques as the primary data collection method. The study results show that practical evaluation has been well implemented through using relevant teaching materials, a personal approach to students, and the habit of positive behaviors such as praying, saying greetings, and speaking politely. Teachers play an active role in motivating and guiding students, individually and in groups, to understand and apply the material in daily life. However, challenges are still found in the equitable distribution of the application of character values among students. Some students have shown improvement in behavior, while others need more attention. Therefore, a more systematic and comprehensive strategy is required to ensure that practical evaluation can be applied evenly. This research strengthens the importance of adequate assessment as an integral part of learning Aqidah Akhlak to build the moral character of students with good personalities. The implications of this research provide practical insights for educators and educational institutions in improving the quality of character value-based learning.

Abstract

This study aims to evaluate the effectiveness and challenges of curriculum implementation in Madrasah Ibtidaiyah (MI) in Indonesia, as well as provide strategic recommendations for improvement. A qualitative approach with a descriptive-analytical design is used to identify factors that affect the success of curriculum implementation. Data was collected through in-depth interviews with madrasah heads and teachers, participatory observations, and analysis of related documents such as syllabi and evaluation reports. The findings show that limited teacher training, lack of learning facilities, and dominance of traditional approaches are the main obstacles to achieving curriculum goals. The results of the analysis highlight the importance of applying project-based learning methods (PBL) and character education to improve 21st-century skills, such as critical thinking, communication, and collaboration. However, the implementation of this method still faces technical and pedagogical obstacles. This research also found the need to strengthen teacher competence through continuous training and the provision of relevant educational resources. In conclusion, the implementation of the curriculum in MI requires synergy between education policies, teacher training, and infrastructure support. The recommendations of this research include improving training programs, procuring technology-based facilities, and collaborating with the government, madrasas, and the community. This research contributes to supporting the development of Islamic education that is more adaptive to the challenges of the globalization era.

Abstract

Digital tools have become increasingly popular in enhancing student engagement and accessibility, particularly in the context of English Language Teaching (ELT). This study explores the effectiveness of Heyzine digital flipbooks in improving engagement and accessibility for diverse learners in the Technology in ELT course at Universitas Negeri Medan. Using a descriptive qualitative approach, data were collected through classroom observations, lecturer interviews, focus group discussions (FGDs), surveys, and questionnaires. The findings show that digital flipbooks significantly enhance student engagement, with multimedia elements like videos, animations, and quizzes catering to different learning styles. Accessibility features, such difficulties accessing content in digital flipbooks and accessibility in mind for students with different needs, were particularly beneficial for students with learning disabilities. However, technical challenges such as slow loading times and navigation difficulties were noted, alongside concerns regarding accessibility design for students with visual, auditory, and learning disabilities. Despite these issues, 75% of students reported never feeling disengaged, and 95% of students found the interactive features most engaging. The study concludes that while digital flipbooks have great potential to foster engagement and improve learning outcomes, ongoing improvements in usability and accessibility are necessary to fully support diverse learners.

Abstract

This study aims to examine the application of Norm-referenced Assessment (PAN) and Benchmark Assessment (PAP) in processing the Indonesian language learning outcomes of students at SMAIT Putri Al Hanif Cilegon. A qualitative approach with an interactive case study method was used. Teachers were identified as the primary data sources, while related documents served as supporting data. Data analysis followed the Miles and Huberman method, which includes three stages: data reduction, data presentation, and data verification. The findings reveal that SMAIT Putri Al Hanif applies both evaluative approaches during midterm assessments to periodically measure students' progress and achievements in Indonesian language learning. This demonstrates the school's commitment to providing holistic and measurable assessments, enriching the Indonesian learning process. However, this study has limitations, particularly in the research timeline. It only evaluates a few factors influencing the quality of midterm exam scores for 10th-grade students, leaving room for further research to explore other unexplored factors. Conclusions are drawn based solely on the available data analysis, emphasizing the need for future studies to adopt different methods, broader samples, and more comprehensive research instruments. The author hopes that future research can more comprehensively and efficiently manage and evaluate student outcomes from both formative and summative assessments. Teachers, as evaluators, must understand learning outcome processing techniques to minimize unfairness in student assessment. This study offers valuable insights into evaluation practices and provides a foundation for developing more effective assessment methods in Indonesian language teaching.
